It's all about the thrill of the kill. I've spent many nights playing games like Halo till the sun came up, and never got bored. I love the competition and drive of fighting against others. Plus that feeling of accomplishment and euphoria you get when you down someone that's skilled, or you pull off like 10 consecutive heads shots, is always nice. The thing I love with fps is that you're in control of whether you get shot or not. So kill or be killed my friends =P

@Rive Caedo, dont waste your time responding to SymbolicGamer as he is either a troll or a pathetic Halo fanboy, I am not sure which one he is but either way his opinion isnt worth squat.

I will say however that I did find some of his posts quite humorous.

Rive, Halo's campaign is the greatest story in the history of video games.

You think Half-Life is better?

How many best sellling novels and comic books did they make off it?

Let me clear this up for you.

Gameplay, story, music... Nothing beats Halo. It is king.

You can disagree, but you'd be wrong.

This post is funny because he uses the pathetic Halo fanboy logic "Halo is the BEST GAME EVAR and anyone who disagrees is an idiot". I am not sure if he is trying to parody the pathetic Halo fanboys or if he is the genuine article but I must say that the post did make me laugh.

Nah. It's not unfortunate.

I don't care if a person casually plays pc games. I like Solitaire. I just don't hang with people who consider themselves to be "PC gamers".

Wow I dont know who wrote that article but he sounds like a lobotomized chimp with a console fetish. Honestly PC gaming is superior to console gaming in nearly every way, it has nothing to do with elitism or a superiority complex but the truth. The only advantage that console gaming has over PC gaming is that it is more accessable in the way that it is cheaper to get into and easier to get started.

I wonder if SymbolicGamer realises how much of a hypocrite he is? He accuses PC gamers of being elitist jerks when it is he himself who discriminates against people who prefer to play games on a different platform to him.

I'm not a FPS fan. The few FPS titles I did enjoy never gave me this problem. I can marathon these games as much as any other other. I've never felt tired while playing an FPS unless I was already exhausted to begin with or found the game boring.

Kids Playing Call Of Duty and Halo are basically eating McDonalds Happy Meals, Valve is a 5 star restaurant, for winners.

See that's a bit too condesending to me. I'd put it this way:

Halo (and console gamers in general) are people.

Half-Life (and PC gamers in general) are people.

And both of them tend to think the other type of person sucks - and some are loud about it.

I fixed your analogy. No need to thank me.

I refixed it.

Never gotten tired as a result of playing an FPS... unless you count playing said FPS for over 13 hours in one day...

Because comic books and game novels are the pinnacle of success, amirite? Half-Life did more for the FPS genre than Halo has ever done. Halo was so popular because it was the Xbox's GoldenEye and because it was a launch title - It would have been pretty hard to get an Xbox without getting Halo (there was also an edition with had Halo bundled. How do I know? I had it)
Halo 2 was the most popular title on Xbox Live for nearly 2 years. Why? Because it was a capable game and one of the best on the service at the time. For console gamers, Xbox Live was generally the only way to play online (the PS2 online service never really caught on in the UK, I doubt it did in the US too) and because everyone had Halo, they were buying Halo 2.
Why did Modern Warfare take off on consoles? Because it was part of an existing franchise and because it was a capable, online shooter. Halo 3? Same again.

Half-Life is not the same as Halo. Half-Life is more about solving puzzles and the story (especially Half Life 2) than Halo. The gameplay is different, the style of game is different, the way the story is handled is different. They're almost like Turn Based Strategy vs Real Time Strategy.
