Most exploitable sound file of the day, from my ME1 perusals, comes courtesy of Udina: "Oh, you haven't seen anything yet, Councilor! I've been holding back!" If I can find some grunts that sound enough like Keith David, the consummation of the Anderson/Udina relationship may yet come to fruition.
Remember he was in the cinematic perfection that was The Thing too! Though the purist in me says that if you whip things from places other than the game, it's kinda cheatin' Bobby
I sorta agree with that, plus there's a more practical reason to not do it. It's bad enough when there's a sound file I have to clip badly to take words out (there's at least two in the latest one that I cringe every time I hear them, but I NEEDED those damn lines!). But the thing about the ME soundfiles I'm using is that they're "clean," i.e. no background noise or other sounds involved. If I suddenly pulled something from a different source, the difference would be really jarring. You'd probably hear snips of background music, or even just the change in sound quality would be really noticable. So, yeah, I'll probably be sticking to ME sounds in the near future. Unless perhaps, ME voice actors have been in other PC games with rippable audio. Hmm, might need to look into that.
Still working through the ME1 audio before I get started on a new project. Odd note: BioWare seemed to be really bad about being economical with the space used for audio in the first game. Just going through the endgame audio, for instance, I've heard at least two instances, the scene with the saved council is one example, where the audio is in there twice. And I swear, it actually sounds like it was recorded twice, like they had the actors do two slightly different line-reads, and kept BOTH versions in the game audio. Such a waste of space.
Oh, and an interesting note: the original ending cutscene of Mass Effect 1 (the digging the team out of the rubble part) was originally longer, with dialogue between Shepard and Anderson. This is one cut I think was probably for the best: it was much more dramatic to have Shepard's entrance be silent except for the awesome music. Regardless, I assembled it
here.
