Assuming it worked before you patched.

Follow this link: http://www.microsoft...&displaylang=en

scroll down. Click the download button across from "vcredist_x86.exe". Save it to your desktop so you can find it easily.

Then double click on that downloaded file and follow the prompts to let it install.

Then try to load Dragon Age again.

Cool cool yeah looked at it before but didn't see where it said who to make them function properly. But i'll give it another shot. And THIS time with the knowledge that you both have provided.

Can't thank you guys enough! JironGhrad & ChandlerL you guys ROCK! :)

JironGhrad definitely rocks. I kind of just vibrate.

hehe, I just gave up my game time to help out here... *shrugs* My copy of DA:O CE works fine, no issues with patching or the content... and it even runs better than expected given my hardware configuration. Since I built the box myself, what I've done seems to work so I'm trying to pass that on to others... call me a glutton for punishment

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm helping but haven't experienced any of the issues reported except for the missing texture on BDragon Armor for elven females but that was one of the things I specifically tested for when people were reporting the issue.

I've now got DAO installed on 5 systems with differing CPUs, v-cards, sound cards, OSs. All work without a hitch.

Fixed it. Thanks. I'm getting a bit tired of Bioware releasing functioning games and then releasing patches that stops the game from working. Do theese people actually test the patches before releasing them?

I'm not sure how they'd test for this... it's based on the individual installation on a user's system and the dependency is tied to something you get from updating your computer... if you don't update then it won't work, should they load all the microsoft service packs into a patch to make sure people are updated?

if it's an FX-53, you're going to need a new rig entirely. If it's an onboard soundcard you might be able to resolve your issue (without disabling audio acceleration) by getting the latest audio drivers or buying a cheap X-fi and disabling the onboard sound

Well I know it is not onboard sound the name is just escaping me at the moment. I did have a crash to blue screen when I updated the sound card drivers so that was kind of scary but everything seems to be working ok now.

With the economy the way it is now I hope to not have to buy a pc for another six months. I have started configuring a couple different ones and 4-5 k is a whole bunch to spend right now........but I know it is coming for sure.

a cheap fix might be an X-Fi card, as you could buy a nice one and that'd be something you could likely move to a new box (you'd need to check to see if your current machine has a PCI-E 1.0 slot... it's the same height as all the other slots but only around 1-2" long usually found near the graphics card slot)

Well, as a bump and update. I've been in touch with some mods and hopefully we can get this stickied soon along with the possibility of a tech support FAQ and fixes.

That's good news, Dater. I've lost count how many times I've linked to or copy and pasted your post.
