Could you give us some more details please.  What exactly does it do when you try to start it?  Which install version are you using (Steam, Impulse, DVD, D2D, etc ) .  What OS?

I tried the fix from MS, vcredit_x86, still no luck

It stalls on the 'Play' button.

And this only happened after the 1.01 install correct? 
Can you open your game directory /bin_ship and play the game by launching daorigins.exe ?

Can you try reinstalling the MS file as I think that's an issue with the file not installing properly.

Thanks for the help. Reinstall worked. I DL'd from MS off another link in thread 2681KB. Gonna try to resume game and see. Thanks!!!!

I experienced this issue upon installing version 1.01. 

The recommended solution worked as expected and I can now start the game again.

I am now able to run the game but it wont play.
Sayes 3 of my content items are unauthorized but they workered before.
I bought warden keep with biopoints and the others where part of my pre order.

Thanks for Tip about the FAQ.

I just wanted to thank you much for posting this fix. I go out of my frigging gord when I have to troubleshoot crap like this just to play a game. I am SO glad I didn't panic and just searched these forums for a solution. Double glad I subscribed to this website, that isn't like me to do so. Saved me much headache, thanks a LOT! Now back to this amazing game.

Can you be more specific?  What's not working with the DLC?

after installin the patch , if u go to the dlc option in the main menu, u see that the requaired version becomes 1.00 painted RED , and it means no good.. the dlc's does not apply in the dlc option in the journal either..

Excuse my ignorance, but exactly which FAQ do you mean, and exactly which item would address the problem with the DLC not being accepted because of mismatch in version numbers? I read through every single issue on the first page of the "Redeemed DLC Unofficial Troubleshooting and FAQ" thread, but none of them seem to apply to this specific error message.

hi all,sorry if this already been said but just to many pages to read through,any way i have found a fix to get it started on win 7 and a program called gamespy comrade well start up comrade and scan for your games then scroll to dao launch the game when it starts press the windows button and pin it to the task bar then after that you should be able to start dao without Comrade.

you're talking about bypassing the launcher... we preferred to fix the actual problem (which is addressed in the 1st part of the 1st post) and this was secondary (2nd part of the 1st post)

Thanks this solved my last problem..got things all back working again now.

I haven't gotten 1.01 to work, though I did not try the fix here. I use Vista 64, with an ATI Radeon 4800 series video card (with 9/09 drivers).
