What´s this MS file you speak of? And why can´t I install the "VC++" file?

This Vc++ file, is it the same as :

"C++ 2005 Service Pack 1" ? Since I´m having problems installing that one from win.update

Thanks for the suggestion, it works. It would be nice if Bioware actually tested their products before releasing them. Bad patch that breaks the game on top of the game was brken when I first installed it, something about a physx.dll or something. I had to reinstall the game. Bioware is not looking favorably with me at the moment.

For every1 who's system crashes or hangs after pressing play, try changing your 3d card driver as this worked for me, got mine from laptopvideo2go.

I believe that means the mod isn't packaged properly... but you should ask over on the toolset forums to be sure

I just wanted to share with everyone that this issue has been reported and filed, and is being investigated.
I
apologize for the inconvenience this has caused for some people.  It's
as nerve racking for us to see that people can't play the game as it is
for you.  I know silence from "official" sources can be unbearable at
times, but we do appreciate your patience.

Also, thank you to
the community that has been able to find some work arounds for people
that were unable to play the game.  It is appreciated.

Allan

Its been a week. Fix these stupid problems or I'm not buying your games again. Its a damn shame I can't put a stop payment on that transaction because I got scammed. Now I've wasted my valuable time running all over the internet installing your fixes that dont work.

Approximately 80% of the errors we've encountered on here can be resolved with some end-user troubleshooting. There are people willing to help with the problems when given some basic information, but ranting on the devs or people who are trying to help is no way to get help.

Thanks for the help Dateranoth.

I got it working but had to re-download the vcredist_x86 from a different link - one midway down page specific to x86.

Installing that worked.

Ridiculous that we have to jump through all these hoops to fix THEIR patch but thanks, I had to take both steps but it worked for my Vista x64.

yea i've done a whole bunch of different things including the impulse fix.  I've done just about everything in this thread.  Its that the game freezes when it tries to launch not any other bug that've been reported. I think its that somehting is corrupted but I cant download a fresh file from impulse without it updating.  Not quite sure what to do and AC2 comes out soon I was hoping to have a lot more game time in by now but what can you do.  They'll figure it out eventually.  Bioware is ligit, and its a good game.  They just rushed a patch and we got some casualties but like the dev, allan, said I appreciate everyone on here whos helping and not complaining.

just tried running the game in safe mode and got this error:

AWC.dll

the game cannot launch because of a misconfiguration. Please
reinstall your game and try again.

dont know if this is because of safe mode or something that might be important. regardless i have
reinstalled multiple times with this same result

Help i'm going crazy not playing

Well, the problem can be caused by a number of things, but try this post:

http://social.biowar...58/index/158329

If the first fix doesn't work for you then go to the second page.  I walk another person through trouble shooting, and if you follow those steps it should work for you.

didn't work thanks though

yeah i have some wierd problem that no one else has i'm afraid that i just need to wait for EA or Bioware or Impulse to figure out whats going on

So Bioware know that the patch causes problems and yet they keep it available in the downloads section of the website without any warnings. Great customer service, folks!

the fixes that it provides are enough to get it playable for some people... and technically the patch doesn't cause any actually problems... the fact that you may be missing a microsoft update causes the problems; which is clearly an end-user problem
