You're absolutely right - but it does still seem to me that there should at least be a read-me with the patch to say "This may cause problems unless you have microsoft update blah-blah-blah installed, and you may need to blah blah blah as well."

It's a bit sickening to install the patch and then find yourself stuck and facing the need for fixes/reinstall.

Oh for the good old days when games worked first time out of the box! Now even the patches need patches ... oh dear, I *am* getting old and grumpy

Hi, my DA is from EADM and any fix didn't help ;x. Still got error 'bout bad config. Phenom II 940, 3ghz, 4gb ram, GF GTX275, Win7 Ultimate. Any idea?

Its been a week. Fix these stupid problems or I'm not buying your games again. Its a damn shame I can't put a stop payment on that transaction because I got scammed. Now I've wasted my valuable time running all over the internet installing your fixes that dont work.

I have the same problem in Steam; fortunately I'm in the UK and should a product fail to work as advertised, I can get a refund, which I'll be doing.

I've tried all of the end user workarounds, I was really excited about this game, but it seems Bioware don't want my money. Fair enough; there are plenty of other developers who do.

I don't know if this is the right thread for this but here goes.  I had the issue of not playing after patch, so I re-installed before looking here for the fix.  Now I have serious issues.  The game shortcuts cannot be found, I cannot patch, it says the game is not installed.  I re-re-install and it gives me a failed install message. I cannot uninstall, as it says the game is not installed.  The game files are still in my hard drive.  I have the purchased DVD, was not a digital download.  If anyone can help with this, would be great.

well i was playing this game for a day, love the story line etc. This morning i decided to redeem my in game golum and dragon armor, which i did sucessfully then decided to download the newest 1.01 patch since i did this i cannot launch the game anymore.... anyone know how to fix this?

I found issue for Windows 7. It's all because PhysX is inlcluded only for Win XP/Vista. On Nvidia site there is other driver for Vista/7. I think u can attach it to 1st post and to Bio: include all needed drivers please ;>

The PhysX drivers on Nvidia's site are here:

States there that the one download works for these Operating systems:

Windows Vista, Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows 7, Windows 7 64-bit, Windows XP 64-bit, Windows XP

A slightly older version is included with the DVD as well.

Great, got this game today, played the forst 2 hours, loved it, so went for the dowloads and the patch..... now the patched shafted me and it wont load the game, AWSOME....

yes but then it could not find the game and asks me if i want to install it, so trying a reinstall even though there was no uninstall

ok the reinstall seems to have fixed, it, guess we have to start reading about patches and if they work nowadays before blindly applying them

So it is not 1.01 for me.  I just downloaded it, then ran it, then opened the game.  Haven't started to play yet.  I am going to reboot first.  Read someone installed patch and all is well, then went to play later and it didn't work.  So I figured I would restart the computer and see what happens.

And to confirm, I am able to play with my DLC's and saved games after installing patch.  I downloaded the patch (only the one right?) and it says patch 1.01a; yet get 1.1 as displayed under daupdater.

I am with the idea too of having the version number displayed on the opening screen somewhere.  Not that it is too important to view all the time, but there does need to be someway to tell what version you have at a quick glance, not via opening up a separate file folder and running a program to find the version.

this is my dxdiag game freezes after i click play (the play button works). every fix has been tried scaned for viruses reinstalled several times nothing any ideas?

A certain order that what should be done? Installing the VC++ ATL security update?

If you're speaking of a game not yet installed, then I suggest installing the game, running the ATL update and getting your DLC, and then patching.

Very sad. The listed downloads did not solve my problem. I've tried 3 times with no success. My pc is XP/32 bit. I wish I could use this patch.

did you also try the microsoft update link and follow those directions? Are you having the non-clickable play button problem or something else?

Patch 1.01b still has issues!! After installing and going back into my game it lost my entire last save! I had completed the back alley quest and now it is unfinished.

Whatever you do DO NOT INSTALL 1.01b.

Tested 1.01b on both DVD and EADM install. It does install the needed Visual C++ runtime and fixes the Games Explorer not working.
