@ buzz, do you have the configuration program working? try disabling the intro movies from there...

Thanks for the advice..........I will give that a whirl once I am done redownloading.

Shut the movies off and the game is still shutting down after the same intro screen??

Ok, cool. That Microsoft update totally did the trick! That said, is there anywhere that actually says the game is now 1.01? I mean I'm assuming the patch worked because my game wouldn't start after(wow, that sounds wierd), but it dosen't actually mention what version it is anywhere. Guess I should have checked my stats beforehand, then I could have compared.

if you browse to your install location there's a file called daupdater.exe that when run will provide the game version number in it's log

Checked my Vista update history and it's listed there plain as day:
7/30/2009 - Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB973923)

I have no idea why I had to reinstall it today.

Oh, and /bumpage.

it's odd but this is an ATL update for VC++ SP1, depending on which version of the VC++ you got you may or may not have the ATLs installed already, ergo why the fix is necessary... It's not so much Bioware's fault as a combination of Windows updates and dependencies

Is there a fix coming out soon to fix the downloaded items to reflect the game version? I have 5 things (Feral Wolf Charm, Collector's Edition, Memory Band, Blood Dragon Armor, and The Stone Prisoner) downloaded and not installed due to the game update required to run those items are v1.0 and I currently have the latest game update... >.<

there's a workaround for that, which has worked for some people... if you run the configuration program and go to "repair" there's an option to "clear the download cache"

doing so may correct the problem

That's why most projects have a "build machine" separate from the development ones.

Oh well...

Hmmm, the KB of the download file is the same discription as the one that was installed on my comp, except KB973923 (mine) said "(for previously installed versions)".

yeah, not that having an updated VC++ SP1 ATL is a bad thing anyway...
