So will Kasumi be one of those "it's already on the disc, but we're making you pay money to unlock it" types of DLC?

Assuming it is, do you think 7 bucks is a ripoff? I do, considering I already bought the disc and I legally own it.

So whaddya think?

Also, if Kasumi isn't already on the disc then this post has no point and that's a different discussion all together so let's assume she is. Or, if you like we can assume that some of her is and some is a required download. In that case I say 7 bucks is too much considering they've only added a bit of content to what's already on the disc for only an hours worth of gameplay. I say more like $2 or $3. Am I being mean to BW? No. We're talking principles here!

Considering Capcom made around 15 versions of Street Fighter II and Charged full price for every single one of them, I think seven bucks is a deal.

Bringing in Capcom to this discussion is unfair. They are the worst! SFIV costume packs anyone? Also, if we're going to just throw out other developers how about considering how Rockstar offered a whole other GTA4 game for only 20 in the form of its DLC. Considering that, 7 bucks is highway robbery.

was *all* of kasumi's data on the disc, or just some of it?

if all of the data is on the disc, then i feel like im being cheated, but...

if only some of it is on there, it tells me that they were in the middle of making her but ran out of time / they knew she was coming so they made some sort of backbone code for the rest of her character to be "plugged into"

Character per character, Kasumi is the most expensive by far.

Whether it's "worth it" or not is fairly subjective, as is the decision to purchase the optional content or not. . .

i'm probably going to buy it regardless to support bioware and help them produce more DLC. but it is your choice to buy it or not and if you dont like it you can send a rude message to bioware yourself

True. The old quality vs. quantity angle.

To that I say if Kasumi's one hour of gameplay absolutely blows my mind akin to how being able to visit the Migrant Fleet or just talking to Thane every chance I could did in the full length ME2 then yeah, $7 could be worth it. It's still pretty steep. Especially if she's already there.

BioWare isn't pulling a Scamco-Bandai, charging you for a key to unlock the content on the disc. It's entirely new content.

thinking about it again, $7 for 90 mins of entertainment...

movies where i live are ~$10 and, depending on the movie, theyre around 90 mins long.

i think its worth it, considering its basically an interactive movie

All the PC hacks show a stand-in, generic model and have no dialogue for Kasumi, so I'd say 'planned but not on the disc' is pretty accurate...

I think movies and games are different things although games are starting to meld quite a bit with cinema. Think about it: you paid 60 for 25+ hours.

Know what would be fun? Bashing a DLC before it's released based on nothing more than speculation. Know what's boring? Waiting for the release and using "evidence" to make claims. Yay for fun threads! [/sarcasm]

i know a few files here and there of Kasumi were supposedly on the disc. But honestly, if the whole DLC is on the disc and they're just charging us money for an unlocking fee, the respect I have for bioware will take a major blow.

i see your point.
the whole game for ~$2.4 / hour vs this DLC for ~$4.6 / hour

Kasumi was only on the disc, in so much as they coded the game with her in mind for later. They left a space for her to stand in some places, and took her into account for the last mission. But her missions, her art, her room on the Normandy, all that wasn't there. There were only a few voice files, and a template/placeholder, that's not enough to say she was on the disc already.

That would be hilarious!

Someone should make a thread just like that.

I will wait for you guys to buy it, and if the complaints are too much they can stick their DLC somewhere. I would never have bought the HH for example. SO uninspired.

Do not speak ill of street fighter :o

The DLC will be worth it for me if the new bonus power, squad mate, and SMG are worth using.

The character Sounds cool. I will reserve judgment till I get to try it out. $7 for a new squad mate if it also includes back story , and new dialogue seems like a good deal though.

some debug test plugs were in the game, but no actual data other than vocal clips and a few other odds and ends. but the mission itself and the character model don't actually exist in the game as of now, nor does her special room on the normandy.

I actually paid about $30 (pc, new) for ME2, and the first playthrough was 45 hours. That's $1.5/hour compared to $5/hour for a 2 hour film. Plus, I have 7 full playthroughs, totalling over 150 hours easily, each different from the other. If I wanted to watch the film again, I'd have to pay for a new ticket or buy the DVD (and I'd have to wait for that to be released), an the film would be exactly the same as the one I already saw, and I could never watch the same film 7 times.

So, don't compare DLC pricing to films, because games are in their own league in terms of value for money. Compare DLC to games.

This is pretty much what i think aswell.
Is 7 bucks a ripoff to get her depends on how good her mission & contribution to the game is.

Though from what I've seen of her mission in the preview, we'll get a new casual outfit that looks similar to the cerberus officer uniform, a new SMG, a squad member, probably another upgrade like in Zaeed's DLC or the firewalker DLC, and another loyalty mission that looks like it may be cool from what little bit we've seen in the preview.

Bashing a DLC that hasn't even been released yet and that has had few hard details revealed is funny.

Seriously man?

ME2 DLC like what 7 dollar dlc and prolly last about a hour or 2 depending on ur skill.. i think all bioware DLC is worth while.. i even got the april fools day stuff for dragon age.. but thats just my opinon

I agree Ashley Williams for ME3 where do i get that and the tali banner?!
