I was just wondering, if you are a Male Shep, how many of you have kept Kaiden alive instead of Ashley?

Or on the other hand, if you are Female, how many of you have kept Ashley alive instead of Kaiden?

I am just wondering, with the default shep always keeping their gender counterpart alive, is there any interesting dialogues between shep male->Kaiden and shep female->Ashley if you didnt kill them in 1?

Male Shep, kept Kaidan alive.

I have no animosity towards Ashley, but I felt that because she was

a) Lesser rank than Kaidan

B) Not a biotic like Kaidan

c) Believed in God and heaven

d) wanted to redeem her family name

Ashley was the better choice for me personally.

Male Shep, kept Kaiden alive. Liked him more than Ashely.

In all of my recent plays I've kept Kaiden alive to make sure I don't accidentally bed Ash, but the dialoug is exactly the with Kaiden as it is with a non-romanced Ash, take away a little "I'm interested in her" talk with Kelly.

Carth Onasis is the man, Ashley is an alien racist.

Plus there are much hotter LI's in ME2 anyway

Of my 4 ME1 files (2 male 2 female) I kept Kaiden alive on one and that was my "bad judgments file" (I also killed Wrex). Couldn't stand Kaiden too much of a cry baby and that's saying something in this game.

Female Shepard, I usually save Kaidan (if he's a LI) but I have also saved Ashley in some playthroughs. The times I saved Ash I left Kaidan with bomb. My reasoning was even though he is higher ranking (a point for him) he was with the bomb and as such needed to guard it from the Geth. I figure making sure the bomb goes off is paramount, so whoever is left guarding it is the one left behind. So I make sure ahead of time to leave the person I'm not saving with the bomb. Metagaming, I know.

I haven't seen any extra dialogue in 2. You get a handshake. There's so little even if you saved your ME1 LI, there's even less if you saved the other person.

I normally let Ashley get nuked. Doesn't matter if its MaleShep or FemShep.

Hmm, what is the conversation between male Shepard and Kaiden on Harvest?

Same goes for the conversation between female Shepard and Ashley?

setting off that nuke was the only thing Kaiden ever did besides stand in his little corner on the ship. only useful in death because he sure wasn't in life.Ash, on the other hand went on almost every mission and is an excellent character.

I never once kept Kaidan alive, I hated him then and I hate him now. Ashley however is one of my favorite from ME1.

My first play through of ME1 ever was with a male shep and i romanced and kept ashley alive.  Everytime after that I've killed her regardless of being male or female.  I can't decide if I find the poetry or the religion more annoying, either is a good enough reason to save Kaidan.  Replaying through as a femshep after beating ME2 several times I even romanced him mostly because at least he was a less annoying human specimen than ashley.

Talking about not trusting the player was not cool...then again I need to replay Kotor.

Eh, if Kaidan had set the nuke properly he could have retreated and caught up to my squad on the way to save Ashley and the Salarians.

Ashley had an interesting personality and character. Kaidan seemed like a nice guy, but he was just boring and whined about his headaches too much.

Me, I hate ashley way more than Kaiden. Kaiden was boring, ashley was xenophobic in a game where the best characters are aliens. You think Tali, Garrus, and Wrex should be confined to their quarters ashley? Guess what? It endangers the mission when I have crew who hate other members of the crew, go watch the nuke while me and My team of badass aliens fly off the defeat saren.

I like to imagine that Shepard argues with Kaidan's ghost in his free time.

I didn't choose my decision based on who I liked between Ashley and Kaidan, I chose based on the justification that tactically, Ashley had to make sure the nuke went off. That was more important. So I left her to defend the nuke. I decided what was best for the mission.

I kept him alive. It was simply a matter of roleplaying.

Kaidan has more technical knowledge so it makes sense to put him on the bomb, not to mention Ashley is far more suited towards leading a combat-heavy distraction team.

The mission of-course is to destroy the base and once the geth attack the nuke there is no reason not to go back and defend it. Even with the bomb armed it is concievable that the geth could overrun the defenders (all two of them) and deactivate or destroy it. So, Kaidan winds up surviving and Ashley dies. She was my Shepard's love interest too. ;_;
