Anyone else think insanity is too easy?

Any 'fun' builds to make it more challenging?

What class? Infiltrator I found to be easy. Vanguard I had to work at it, but it was awesome.

Sentinel's pretty easy. It's made easier by the fact that you can get Zaeed from the start and Garrus right after his mission. With the Sentinel, you could always pass on Reave, and go without a bonus. On my first insanity run, so far, I've had 5 deaths. That's right before I go to Horizon. For me, that's REALLY good.

But seriously, if it's too easy, try a NG+ run. Trust me, you WILL be frustrated.

I did a pyromaniacs challenge game that was hilarious.

However, that meant no biotics (unless Shepard is a vanguard) ... those barriers got quite irritating.

Challenge basically goes: all characters must put all points in a fire-based power (until max), and if they don't have one, pick someone else (if there's a choice).

Insanity in ME2 is a lot easier than Insanity in ME1 IMO. Haven't done an Insanity run on NG+ though...but I probably should. I want a challenge. >:)

Really? Which class did you play?
'cos god mode (immunity) made the game dumb.

my question to those of you griping about how insanity is too easy is this: how many times have you played through this game and or ME 1? I mean really if you've beaten it on insanity 6 times ya its going to feel easy, heck if you've beaten it on normal/veteran/hardcore a bunch of times its going to seem easy. Now don't get me wrong I don't think its too hard or overly hard, but I think it is a good balance of strategic, fun, and somewhat challenging.

You know, a game can just be easy or hard.

'cos they're compared to other games.

Devil May Cry 3 .. that's a ****. Mass Effect 2 .. cakewalk by comparison.

True but once you master any game easy or hard, it is easy for you, so the difference is essentially in how long it takes to master. Maybe ME2 takes less time to master than other games but if its fun (which I think it is) and each class plays different enough (I think they do) then just enjoy the game. If you want more of a challenge play something you're not an expert at

Once again, that's not true ... I happily claim to be a 1337 gamer, who have done silly stuff like take on the death star with a tyderian shuttle (in x-wing), being able to complete D&D2: shadow over mystara every single time on level 8 difficulty with any character, and beaten dark messiah of might and magic (on hardcore difficulty) without dying.

Even so, I have to say battletoads is freakin' impossible.

It's a PvE RPG, what do you expect?  Until there are huge advances in AI it'll be nigh impossible to make a legitimately challenging game.  All you can do is require finer precision on the same rote actions.

Uhh .. you started Baldur's Gate at level 1. 2 shots from an archer = game over.

"Finer precision" is not typically a skillset of rpgs as much as it is one for shooters and action games.

I've got a few ideas to make Insanity harder for you :)

* Kill with Melee only

* Don't spend experience points at all

* Play with one hand and closed eyes :)

LMAO ... no.

That's like saying Pete Sampras can have a "challenge" playing tennis against me if only he does so in a wheelchair.

Handicapping yourself is retarded.

As an Engineer insanity started out difficult, mainly because the class seems to come into its own at higher levels, and also because I hadn't learned my squadmates well yet, whom to use and how to use them. Now I'm tying up loose ends before the reaper IFF and must say its quite a bit faster and easier, though its still easy to die if I screw up.

Well, over on The Witcher's site, ppl have modded the game to be horrendously difficult .. 'cos the default "hard" mode is too easy.

That's one option .. though if it isn't done by the game's developers, I'd say it isn't as the game was "intended to be."

The other option is to play a harder game. In the good old days, there were plenty of games without such silly things as "saving the game." Game over is just that. Game over. Even the insert more coins to continue system was a crutch for too many people.

Which brings me to the final way to play ... one life. Shepard dies = galaxy doomed = you do not reload. I attempt this all the time, with every class. Only succeeded with infiltrator. Just started my 6th engineer attempt ... haven't made it past horizon yet.

Any game with auto-regenerating health and shields cannot be difficult, BioWare also included medi-gel, so that makes it even easier for those that use it.
Insanity is still much better than in Mass Effect 1, that was beyond ridiculous.
One of the things I hate about ME2 is that squadmates simply suck, they are basically your extended abilities carriers, nothing more. Best assassin in the galaxy and yet he cannot take cover properly. Immersion breaking stuff.
I would love to be able to go alone on all missions, just to avoid seeing squadmates suck so much.

There really should have been a "take cover" order ... the AI may not be smart enough to know when the crap is gonna hit the fan, but it's smart enough to path to the nearest cover and get on the other side of enemies.

So, just let me order them to do so. Damnit.

Yeah it does get annoying as hell watching Garrus for instance run around like he's invincible.

For me insanity isn't too easy, I find it just the right mix of challenge and enjoyment. But it does also depend a little on what class you play.
