I just beat it with an Adept (imported from ME1, level 54) on insanity.

It was pretty challenging. It was a breeze with other classes like Vanguard and Sentinel, or Soldier. But with Adept, it's much more challening. There were parts where I had to retry at least 10 times.

Overall though, Adept class kicks ass. :) Singularity is awesome. I also figured out how to deal with Husks, using Shockwave... Pick Sniper Rifle training (imo, best one for Adept) on the Collector ship, and have squad incendiary ammo (I got it from Grunt).

From afar with the Viper rifle (incendiary ammo on), shoot each husk twice, it will completely knock their armor out, leaving them vulnerable. Then as they are running toward you (they end up pretty much single-file), hit them with Shockwave, and it should kill them all in a row.

I never had so much fun in ME2 killing husks... It especially made the derelict reaper mission much easier. I used Grunt and Mordin.

I'm with you. I consider Adept the most fun class. Totally outclasses the Vanguard in regards to fun, in my opinion. It also provides the greatest challenge on Insanity pretty much

Yeah husks are a joke to the adept class i just pop a Singularity on floor in front of me then you just have to shoot off their armour & watch them die as they run into the Singularity:P

I actually found the adept easy on Insanity, even a NG+ insanity. Think I died less than 5 times the entire time, and all those times were because I hopped over cover rather than take it. It's fun and tactical and you actually use your squad a lot more. Personally I prefer the vindicator over the viper as my long range and keeping the tempest for short range,

As someone said above, singularity will slow down husks and kill them if they are unarmored. Or you can just be lazy and break out the avalanche. That weapon clears them out quickly.

No, Insanity is not too easy. It is just right. I am not a shooter fanboi, so I had to play on normal, then hardcore before progressing to insanity. I like it, but there is no need to make insanity harder.

What is really weird, is that in spite of my expectations I found the engineer the easiest. I didn't even use up all squad points for very long. But I just seem to die all the time when I try to use charge a lot (with my vanguard(s)).

lexicality: I use and have been using the suggestions you wrote down, but I really have reached the conclusion my comp is just too weak to run this game properly.

For me, insanity on newgame+ with an Adept gave me quite some deaths. Don´t use AI glitches and play "fair" against the AI. I died about 25 times vs the YMIR on Purgatory, because I still had much crossfire from mercs going on. Very challenging, I like.

If that´s not enough, try a playthrough without any death of you or your teammates. Have fun! ;)

Things like the YMIR getting stuck somewhere because of cover, or not "awakening" the YMIR by staying far behind.

Or you know that some mercs will appear in your back and abusing that fact by positioning "ready to kill" before they even appear.

Basically, this applies to all things you only can know because you played that level already far too often and you know it by heart... Scratch them off and you have a quite insanity difficulty! :)

You cant -not- know they are coming if you do know though.. So you might not position ready to kill, but you still know where they will be. Ymir getting stuck... Its just a stupid robot. If you want to face a ymir head on, be my guest. Even if the thing wouldn't get stuck, i could just run around "random obstacle" making him unable to shoot as well.

And about the awakening stuff.. Its more strategic then anything. If some guy doesnt see you, or the ymirs sensors (or however they notice you) dont go out that far, but i do see theres a mech parked there... Its wise to not go in close and expose myself while the 20 other guys are still shooting me as well.

If you want realism... Go and agro everything before you start killing. Its not that realistic that i could surprise a guy when they should know by now i sniped 50 of their comrades

Anyway, you seem to set limits to you playstyle and thats fine if you like that sort of challenge... I feel the game is balanced around these supposed "AI glitches", and if i could tell the AI what to do, you wouldnt ever make it out a mission without 100 deaths.

What challenge? The most dangerous enemies, except ymirs, are vulnerable to singularity.Harbinger assume control.Singularity and he is completly harmless. The same works with scions. Its also funny that singularity work on geth hunters, where the drone of the engineer fail.

I used to think it was too easy for the Sentinel.

Then I played Thane's mission.

Oh god, Thane's mission...

YMIR's aren't vulnerable to Singularity until their defenses are down.

Every class, except for the Adept, is given multiple options for defenses. The most important upgrades, Biotic Damage, aren't available until Horizon unless you do the Firewalker Mission. It has a very difficult early game as well considering two of the first four recruitments are entirely shield-based.

It depends more than most other classes on squad lethality as well

The sentinel is far too overpowered

I have to keep checking I'm playing insanity with a shotgun assault sentinel.

So far I'm pre iff and I've done everyones loyalty missions (except legion) and and am finishing off the remaining N7 missions.

I havent died a single time - not including the levitating bug.

I've taken area dominate as my extra skill. It makes for an interesting playstyle.

- strip a couple of shields with the area overload

- throw in the area dominate.

- run in towards any not dominated and shoot them at point blank.

- when the dominated chars break free of domination they'll blow your shields and knock themselves down

- put your shields back up and shoot & punch any remaining foes.

rinse and repeat.

I'm not the best videogame player, so playing on Insanity is a bit of a challenge for me. I'm playing as a Vanguard and I'm doing the mission to recruit Garrus.

I failed, a lot. I jumped from playing on Normal into Insanity, so I've decided to play on Veteran, then return to playing on Insanity. Though, I'm not sure if I should continue playing as a Vanguard, so I'm wondering, what class would be good for Insanity?

This is such a weird question. Not trying to be insulting (really, I'm not), but why do people switch to insanity if they want to get through it easily? The vanguard is great for insanity, Backdraft. Go to youtube and watch videos from: sinosleep, Kronner, ThatAverageGatsby, sabresandiego, Thisisme800 etc. They will give you ideas and you'll have tonns of fun.

Every class can beat insanity. The players just have to adapt to using their strengths and find the best strategy for themselves and the class they are playing.

Have fun.

@BackdraftBandit

+1 to greghorvath's comments

Go with whatever class you like at the level you feel comfortable at.

Your skill level will soon grow and you'll want to up the difficulty to compensate.

I never thought I'd like engineers but after watching Average Gatsbys engineer vid with the favourite game soundtrack I fell in love with that class.

Soldiers I hate - though thats probably down to the ammo override bug.

Alright, 6 playthroughs and I just learned about warp detonations and the fact that mdei gel isn't just for reviving squadmates.

NG+ insanity with Adept on Talis recruitment: I died about 25 times. I depend heavily on my squadmates to destroy shields. They die very quickly if you don´t leave them behind at the starting area. Once I knew how to keep them alive, the mission became a lot easier. Even then, I had to use heavy weapon to wear the collossus down. It seemed to recharge shields faster than two overloads and SMG could do to it while dodging its missiles and dealing with the geth spawning all 30 seconds. It was quite challenging and very fitting for insanity.

My first play through was as an Engineer on Veteran.

Second play through was just completed as an Adept on Hardcore. I had a blast with the game this time, and many missions took multiple attempts.Half way through I had my ultimate party and was just relentlessly moving through the enemies.

For my third play through, I choose Vanguard on Insanity. I am getting repeatedly crushed. Part of the issue is being left handed and the lack of real choices when it comes to key board and map mousing. I just can't melee fast enough. With the Vanguard on Insanity, I struggle through every mission, dying constantly. I am about to scrub the Vanguard attempt and pick a Sentinnel, though, the Sentinnel and the Adept seem very similiar. The adept as so much fun.

I still maintain the opinion that the difficulties should've been notched to a lower slot universally.

Veteran = Normal, Hardcore = Veteran, ecetera.

And not because "olol it's so easy what's wrong nubs", but because ME2 is genuinely more fun and involving on higher difficulty levels and borderline brainless lower down. It has nothing to do with whether or not people are capable enough, but with how much more fun they might have.

The two friends who I've evangelicized into playing ME2, I've made a point of suggesting starting on, at least, Veteran, and both thanked me afterward. (Then again, these are also "gamer" types)

That and something harder than Insanity, something actually truly masochistic instead of just genuinely challenging, would be nice for the min/maxers who can't help but break the game.

Depends how they make the game harder.. you already die from 3 bullets currently, and everything already got layered defenses aswel... Soo yea smarter opponents perhaps... them using different skills

I think they just need to find a better balance between the difficulty and the updgrades the enemied get. This game feels like an attrition war on insanity.
