We know that time progresses a fair bit in both games, but we're never told how long both games are from start to finish.
What are your guesses?
I always thought Mass Effect 1 took over the course of six to eight weeks during Earth's summertime.
For instance, Eden Prime only looks like it took the course of an early morning [06:00 or 07:00] and ended mid-afternoon [14:00 or 15:00] or so.
Mass Effect 2 looks like it takes about maybe three months for all of the prepping to the suicide mission, perhaps from autumn to winter, or winter to spring much like when the game came out.
Anyone else have opinions on this topic? Perhaps even how long some missions may take? I really wanna hear some input on this!

Those time frames look pretty close, although I'd say they were a bit shorter.
About a month for ME1 and maybe 6 weeks to 2 months for ME2. Can't base that on anything, it's just what "feels" right.
Hard to say what time of year they'd be set in as they'd be different depending on what planet you'd be on.

A bit off topic I do find it interesting that the original Normandy could only have been in service for 2 or 3 months based on timelines like this since it was on it's first shake down run in ME1 and what happens a month after the mission....... That Admiral that was complaining about the credit funding must have been pissed.

@Steel Dancer -- You bring up a really good point, and I do have to agree about time of year, that's what felt right to me. But Mass Effect never felt like it was released at the right time of year [November and January] either, to me, it feels more like a late spring/summer game.
@wolfsite I have to agree to that. xD

ME2 seems much shorter and more urgent. Maybe a few weeks at most. ME1 seems for me to cover a few months. Just the opposite of the O.P's estimation.

Always thought ME1 was the more urgent matter, Eden Prime - Issue to Fix. 6 weeks tops. (Even though it was easy to get distracted driving around in the MAKO). ME2 seemed more long term, anywhere up to three months. Even though the Collectors were kidnapping human colonists, it wasn't a daily occurrence, otherwise the alliance would of cared a lot more even if it was outside Alliance Space. Collector attacks were random and scattered throughout the Terminus systems and happening for around two years.

On Noveria Dr. Cohen says Alestia Iallis arrived a month ago so obviously it was longer than one month if Saren told her to watch out for Shepard
