I just recently found out* that even in the sequels to the Sims you can stop these little buggers from aging, which for me is essential, because after spending so much time on one guy, I won't just have him fall over and stay down.

Now my question for you is which of the games you can actually recommend more. The second part comes with a heap of add-ons, which may be read as a good thing (if you have the money), but the third is, at least technology wise, probably superior.
Don't just give stupid arguments, like "Sims III is still totally bugged, you'll have to wait at least until the next patch is out before you can even install it" or "Sims II has less options to customize your character than even the prequel, so you may be disappointed"; I want your honest opinions, and that means a) capslock, B) insults to anyone who disagrees with you and c) no coherent grammar or spelling. If you can't flame to support your game, then it's likely not worth buying.

* on 4chan, where I was also harshly shunned for actually buying my games before playing them...

That's what I said. And why I've asked which sequel is worth going for.

I only know of totally turning off aging in Sims 2. You can have an epic life in Sims 3 but avoid dying... I don't know about that. In my opinion, Sims 2 is the superior game atm in terms of architectural design. If you want to build without using cheats and little tricks, Sims 2 is better equipped. Halfwalls, half-floors, spiral staircases... Sims 3 will probably add this but it'll require another 6 or 7 expansions. Gameplay is superior in Sims 3 because of the details.

Thanks for the input.

I honestly couldn't wait. The details just are too good. Your behaviour at work, being able to change your walking style, the bonusses from several things... Goals and wishes can be overwhelming, though.

But at the same time, I'm realizing now and then that I miss something from the previous Sims 2. Roofs have gotten a lot more interesting with World Adventures, but they could have included stuff that already was included with Sims 2 expansion - this time as standard. Instead, they robbed the piano! There are community creations, sure, but I usually don't like having to use them. Makes the game too crowded and more vulnerable to glitches and serious errors.

^That is similar with the transition from the Sims to Sims 2 though. Par for the course I guess.

I had less problems from 1 to 2. The graphics were much better (of course), it had diagonal walls with doors and windows, basements, Children were able to grow up, there were wishes. I dunno, the overall experience with Sims 2 was better than with Sims 1 - even without animals, young adults, apartments (not without cars, they were a great addition; just as are the bikes).
So let's sum it up like this: the basic game of Sims 3 is better while the available collection (basic+expansions) for Sims 2 is better. Atm and imho only.

I find it interesting that many people when they see some body like a game they consider bad feel an urge to hurt them instead of, for example, just letting them continue to suffer on their own with the bad game. I believe this may be partly due to the fact that they fear that if they are not demonstrated how bad this game actually is, they could end up accidentally enjoying it - but I still fail to see how this could be... bad.

It is possible of course, that they merely have given up hope in us; we will always support the wrong games and are therefore responsible for Mass Effect II and the death of the Duke - disposing of us is then a necessity to heal the battered body of the gaming szene before necromancy becomes the only option.
If that is the case, I salute you, AntiChri5, for having the mental strength required to pull the trigger on your fellow human in order to save video gaming for all the innocent children.

Oh and thanks stardazzled for further information, even though your post did nothing to lessen my problem. :D
