What is this Sci-fi people are talking about?  I only see a SyFy on my channel guide <_<

Anywhoo, go Stargate.  I like what I've seen of SGU so far, I've seen the first half-season.  Haven't seen any of the new ones yet.  I end up watching the show on my cable providers on demand thingie, because I'm usually doing other stuff during the time it airs.

As the first half of season one ended I was not very excited about SGU. The main lacking thing was any sort of enemy to rally against, or really any focus whatsoever. Infighting only remains interesting for so long before it gets tiresome to me. The 2 episodes since they've started it back up changed my mind on the show. It has some potential now, I think. It's still not quite as good as SG1 or Atlantis, but it might get there for me.

As an avid fan of SG-1 and Atlantis I musy say that SGU sucked. It just didn't feel like Stargate at all because they were trying to be edgy adn gritty etc. They should try to sopt copying Battlestar Galactica(another show I dislike) and for goodness sake the cameramen should get tripods. All the shots are shakey-cam which just irritates me when I'm trying to watch it. I want my cheesy military action sci-fi back.

Agree with this 100%. I love SG-1 and Atlantis, but after watching the original showing of SGU I just did not like it. Felt way too much like what I have seen from BSG. That's not something I care to see in my Stargate shows. So, SGU? Thanks but no thanks, I'll stick with SG-1 and Atlantis. So for those of you who do like SGU, hope you continue to enjoy it. As for me, I'll just be waiting to hear word of when they are finally going to do that Atlantis movie. (And the 3rd SG-1 movie)

They did a 10 episode test run. that's why we had that long pause between the episode 10 and 11. SyFy decided to pick it up for the rest on the season, and if I'm not mistaken that's about 22-23 episodes, so as of now we have 10 or so episodes before we have to wait for season 2.(If they pick it up for season 2)

They didn't do a test run. Syfy does this for all of their shows. They show 10 episodes of the season in the fall/winter then take a break while they are showing new episodes of different shows then air the rest of the season in spring/summer. That way they always have new programming all year.

Season 2 has already been picked up and filming.

Yes!! I saw this tonight on scifi. They had an interview with David Blue and he was talking about a second season. He also said the rest of this season picks up, but I think it's fine already..

yeah, the pace of introducing an entire cast of ~20 characters would have to be slow and redundant in order to build familiarity with the viewers. its not necessarily too slow, but for an action scifi show, the on-ship drama was a little slow for me. With the introduction (spoiler) of new aliens, I am very excited to see what direction this show goes in. I still really hate some of the cast of SGU though, mainly the kids, Chloe and Eli.

I still have trouble remembering peoples names. Took me a while to remember anyone but Rush and Eli.

And yes I dislike Chloe too. Eli is alright but it's kind of weird that out of all the scientists etc on board he's expected to do everything!

She has to be the damsel in distress, she's the only real damsel there! But you know how people like to subvert conventions. I'm sure they're eager to prove she's not useless.

Yeah I realy ike the Colonel as well.  He isn't some perfect paragon of god, bunnies and rainbows but he is doing the best he can in a crappy situation.   What he pulled with Rush in episode 10 (I think...on that dry plaet..don;t want to spoil anything) was extremy questionable but I would have probaby done the same thing.   I like t see good characters in bad situations.

Its a interesting show for the most part. I have only watched the first 4 episodes. Going to wait till I am at the half way part but there are a couple characters I would like to kick in the head.

Completely agree with you on this. Which is why i think he wont be in charge long.

Colonel Young seems like an ass to me. You just don't throw some one on an uninhabitable planet for trying to frame you, epically when he is the one of only ones that know how to use the ship. that could have cost everyone there lives latter on. I don't think Young will make it through the last episode of the season alive.

At every turn it seems like Rush does not care about anybody else on the ship and just has his own agenda......he finally snapped.

So far of our three "leaders" (young, rush, asian lady whose name i forget) the good colonel is the only one i trust.
