I can see Alistair having kids with a person who is not a Grey Warden.
If the two wardens were to have a child, they would have to use magic or something to help. The royal line wouldnt die though with Alistair if he didnt produce an heir, there is another Maric bastard out there somewhere.

When Alistair tells you (after you announce to him and the landsmeet that you're going to marry him) about an heir you can answer with
Al: They'll expect an heir you know, two gray wardens blah blah blah
HNF: It's also not neccessary.
I personally choose "it won't be for lack of trying" but stil, it really isn't neccessary, it's old nobles fussing about old traditions (I'm looking at you Eamon).
