Which HW is best against YMIR mech?

I play as Sentinel with shotgun, but it still takes me some time to kill those mofos. I mean its not difficult, its just time consuming. I used to use grenade launcher, now I prefer arc projector (usually, against normal mob). Ive read that avalanche has some crazy damage output against barriers, armor and shields (like 700% or wiki is wrong). Is it usefu; against heavily armored (or shielded) enemies?

arc projector to take out the shields, sniper/handcannon/incinerate for armor, arc projector to finish them off

CAIN, if you can get it. Otherwise I like the Collector Beam Weapon.

The Cain makes short work of YMIR mechs, but I only bring it with me for 4 or 5 missions in the entire game:



Secure Smuggled Cargo

Horizon - Praetorian

Collector Ship - Praetorian

Final boss fight



And maybe one or two others. For killing YMIR mechs, I don't really use Heavy weapons but if I did I would just use my staple, the Avalanche. To clarify about the damage, the Avalanche doesn't do much raw damage to health, so the multiplier against protections must be high to balance the weapon out.



The grenade launcher should work too, as should the missile launcher or collector beam.

Same, the only other place I use the Cain is grunts loyalty mission on the Thresher Maw.

If you pop the Cain early in the Smuggled Cargo mission you can take all three down to just a bit of armor.

Here's an example.

Not a Sentinel, but it shows how much damage that Cain does. I love it!

For other missions with YMIRs I tend not to use any heavy weapons with my Sentinel. I like to get up close and personal :devil:

I constantly used the rocket launcher against the mechs because you can fire it from behind cover since the rockets are guided.

arc projector is very useful. I use it all the time. but it's not working with prothorian (collector's hovering machine). otherwise, it works for all enemies.

I found the Avalanche to be great. I got trapped in a room with the YMIR mech on Zaeed's loyalty mission and killed it solely using the avalanche, and it freezes it, giving you time to clear its rather large blast zone. In reality, most heavy weapons get the job done, it really comes down to personal preference.

I never seem to have enough ammo for the Cain. It's a fun weapon, but the amount of ammo it uses makes it effectively useless to me.



I've tried a bunch of the others, and now I'm back to the good old 'nade launcher, especially against YMIRs. It's a bit hard to aim, but the damage output is good. Only place I use something else is against the Praetorian on Horizon, which I always take down with the particle beam.

Anything you can fire quickly and duck back into cover with is great. This means that the Firestorm and the Collector Particle Beam are generally bad weapons for YMIR Mechs. The Cain is generally too powerful to waste a shot on a YMIR Mech. They're difficult, but not that difficult. Everything else is simply a matter of preference.

The Cain is not an efficient HW. Its more like the option you take when you want to skip a fight. If you want a weapon that efficiently takes out YMIR mechs, I'd say go with the Arc Projector.

The Cain doesn't work well for me because I usually have one shot at best, and that isn't going to kill it dead on Insanity. So for the YMIR, the arc projector works much better for me. And if I'm playing an Infiltrator, there's that constant desire to take it out with a headshot with my Widow. I've only managed it once.

Arc projector is very powerful, but it's not the fastest. Apart from Cain, Avalanche is probably the fastest since you can spam it as fast as you can tap the button. But the downside is that you'll spend a lot of ammo that way and you're probably better off with Cain, ammo-wise.

Oh man is that fun. The head just...dissappears. When I first did it, I thought I wasn't going to get the self destruct as the warning light wasn't going (at least not visibly), and nearly killed myself cause I didn't clear the blast radius.

I love the widow oh so much. If it's not in ME3, I don't think I'll be able to play it.

Actually, that's a big switch between ME1 and 2. The snipers are so worthless in ME1 because every time you zoom you have to wait a second or two for the aim to stabilize. That, and the damage is that much bigger than everything else (though it is still fun).

I like getting thet headshot during Garrus's loyalty mission, when you're against 2 YMIR's.

Headshot one, duck and cover.....KABOOOM! Both squaddies die in the blast, then immediately get back up again when the other mech dies.

Gernade Launcher or Missle Launcher. Flamethrower is suicide, Avalanche is flakey because you have to have the armor's down to have it work right. Collector beam is effective as well. I haven't tried the eye of dawn....I mean the latest dlc gun yet.

Best way is to aim for the head and hope it explodes with other targets around it.

As a soldier I use adrenaline rush 3 times, plus the sniper with anti barrier ammo then anti armor ammo and his gone, go for the head, always
