Outside of these angry forums, Awakening is receiving great praise! What gives?

Yeah, archery is my favourite spec, but it went from being somewhat underpowered in Origins to severly overpowered in awakenings, which kind of made it broken IMO.
I had myself and Sigrun as archers and Oghren and Velanna were basically hanging around for moral support, lol.

Yeah i agree as a archer on awakening you need no team mates and by the time your done you have high dragon armor and they cant even hit you as you rain arrows down uppon them. Fun IMO hope archery is this fun in DAO2.

What i am interested in is if Bioware listens to the criticism of Awakening on the forums no matter if they think its right or wrong. Or if they see thoose that particiapate as "the small voice" becuase there is relativley few that goes to their forum in relation to how many that bought their product. Therefore ignoring some very plausible criticism and go about their business.
I mean if Awakenings get high reviews in magazines and alot of people buy it is Bioware content with that even though there are some massive cries (rightly or wrongly) of unfinished/rushed game,a pletora of bugs, onedimensional companions and so on. Do they look themselves in the mirror and say hey maybe we did something wrong with this product or do they just pat themselves on the back on the way to the bank? Thats what im intererested in.
I'm not sure, if we are "the small voice".
There was a similar discussion in another forum, which consists also mainly of a bunch of dedicated RPG-players. The question was "are we representative for ALL players?" The answer was simple. In terms of numbers and statistic-rules we are certainly not "representative".
But in terms of expertise we are superior compared to the hoards of so called casual players.
Yeah, it might sound arrogant, but I consider myself a bit more "expert" than the average gamer, who wouldn't even notice a bug as far as it is not something like a permanent CTD.
Thus, the devs have a base of "experts" here, free of charge, independent and honest. If one or two of them or their superiors ever visited a starter seminar about basic communictaions, they'd know, that the feedback, they receive from (most of) us is invaluable. Only a hardcore moron would ignore that.
Of course there are trolls and other persons who never learnt to express themselves in a non-agressive way, but it's easy to ignore these. Most of us are STILL polite, not offensive in an insulting way. But perhaps it's sufficient to think different than they do to count as "offensive".
BTW, look at this thread. Look at many similar threads. We are still ignored. It starts to become funny.

I hope the wound I inflicted to you is healed in the meantime

I wish I could actually make an archer....been waiting six months for them to fix this game so I can, but still they refuse to do anything, I just don't get it.

And the silence from Bioware (excluding David Gaider a couple of times) on this forum about the numerous issues people have posted is really strange i think.

I have no idea what you're trying to say, here. What are you afraid of again? That they'll stop listening? Or that they will actually stop and listen?Proposition_Joe wrote...
Baher of Glory; Yes thats one way to see it i suppose, but how many people really feel like listening to criticism of their work as Wishpig said they might (most probably) have worked very hard to get this expansion out, then we come out with out guns blazing " rushed product, too short, too easy, too many bugs etc." Im just afraid they turn off and stops to listen and if they do that, then they are on a dangerous path in my opinion, because then we will see degrading content no cennection between stories becuase they just look for some quick money and knowing that the casual gamer might not care about the issues we on the forums care about. That is so important to the most of us, story, connection, companions.
And aren't we already seeing these problems that you're describing? Especially the disconnect?

Yes thoose problems is what we have today, but we dont want them in future expansions, therefore i think its important that they continue to listen to the forums, even though we are a small representation of thoose who buy the game. Im afraid they are not listening because of their abscence on theese forums.

That's the part that really worries me, I mean in six months all we've gotten is a couple of posts saying "we're looking into it" regarding bug fixes, but never any fixes. The latest one was right after awakenings was released, which I'm guessing was simply PR to try to make people less angry since there's been no word at all since then. I only see the problems getting worse in future expansions/games since, as you said, we are a small part of the community that buy these games. Many people just grab every DLC and expansion without question which only goes to reinforce their behavior, if they can release bug filled products and people will still buy them up right away why would they spend more money to fix it. It's a sad trend of money over quality that is slowly taking over which worries me about future games.

I think the problem is that a lot of people don't know or don't care to post constructive criticism. If you don't like something in a product you have every right to complain; it's how you complain that will dictate whether the company changes policies or sticks with the same formula. Granted, some companies require brute force to get their cooperation.... But I don't think Bioware is one of them.
Just my two plat, take it for what it's worth

As long as you stick to longbows, you should be alright. It just the crossbows and shortbows that are fubar'ed. For me at least(PS3)
