Are the gift & prank pack worth the price?

From what I read about it in the description this sounds like repeat of the horse armor snaffu by bethesda.  Why not just give this for free?  I mean just look at Mass Effect 2 the people who bought that new are getting lots of free DLC stuff and it is much bigger than this gift/prank pack based on descriptions alone.

So if someone who purchased it can give a minireview that would be greatly appreciated.

Money talks.

Also, DAO only sold half as well as Mass Effect 2. EA is probably pressuring Bioware to justify the franchise's production/operating costs compared to the "other" franchise.

Wow I did not know that DA:O only sold half as many copies as ME2. How in the heck are they able to announce a sequel this soon if that is the case?

They're roughly the same price as Return to Ostagar and Warden's Keep, which in my opinion are ridiculously cheap. Compare it to Bethesda's Fallout 3 DLC, which had roughly the same level of content, and cost around $15.

Five bucks for a bunch of (somewhat overpowered) gifts with cool effects? You could do worse. I mean, Morrigan's Alistair doll is just awesome for the sake of awesome, and Leilana's lute (which she can actually play) is too. Oghren can actually get drunk(er) with his gift, and Shale's prank item gives her an uncrushable pigeon on her shoulder, which happens to have covered her in bird poo. Also, Sten actually reads the Qunari Prayer for the Dead, which I think is awesome.

In short, fun new interactions that mesh well with the character's personalities? Youn could buy worse things for five dollars.

Call me dumb but I can't seem to create my own thread so I'll ask here......I have both DA and DA Awakenings and I got the Feastday Prank/Gift pack but can seem to play it. If I use the original DA disc, it says I need the DA Awakenings disc. I put that one in and then I look at 'downloadable content' and the pack is red. What gives? Can I not use the pack (which I paid for) if I have install DA Awakenings?

If not, that sucks! It seems like the people who bought DA Awakenings are being precluded from using the add-ons for the original DA. Which seems backwards to me. Does this mean in the future I will only be able to use DA A add-ons and not the ones for the original DA?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks.

Are you on PC, Xbox 360, or PS3?

If its an Xbox 360 you're playing on, try this:

Go to you Memory cache on your Xbox, then go to Games, then go to Dragon Age - Origins.  Find the Feast Day Prank/Gift/Combo pack block.  Delete it, then re-start Dragon Age and go to the main menu of the game.  Re-download the Feast Day Prank/Gift/Combo pack, and it should work.  It should show up as Downloaded instead of Purchased on your DLC list once you've done this.

This was a fix for the DLC Promo items.  Apparently, while you could download the items, you needed to be connected to the EA servers to get authentication or verification to use them in your game, so if you weren't online they wouldn't work.  I'm not sure if its the same thing with the Feastday pack, but I did it this way just in case and its worked fine.

Granted, if you're not using a 360 I'm not sure what it could be.

Thanks for the quick reply! Sorry, I didn't mention it but I'm using PS3. But, I would have to believe there's way to do it on PS3. I'll try something similar to what you suggest on my PS3.

Okay, so I tried to delete the downloads from the PS Store (where I bought it), and it doesn't have the option. I looked on my PS3 for a way to extricate the downloaded content from the game but can't find a way. I really hope they have a fix for this because I don't want to have to miss out on all DA Origins add-ons since I bought the Expansion Pack. I mean there has to be a way to integrate these add-ons to the games otherwise people who spend more money fro Expansion Packs are essentially being punished. Sounds bass-ackwards to me.

Hmm i also use PS3 and have downloaded Awakening onto my Origins disc, but Feastday works fine for me, so im not sure whats going wrong for you, but its not to do with the fact you have downloaded Awakenings at least.

It adds very little to the game, time-wise, but most of the gifts/pranks are quite funny. It really depends on what you're looking for. If you really like companion interaction and banter, I think it's worth it. If you prefer just questing and rarely talk to you companions, I don't think you'll like it.

@Forteg - I'm glad to know it's possible that it can work. Maybe I should try something else. Could it be possible my problem is that I bought the disc rather than downloading the game?

@Estelindis - Thanks for the info. I'm more of a quest player so it probably wouldn't be that much fun for me. My concern is just that if future add-ons come out for the original, I'll have the same problem :(
