I took a picture with Fraps, but I can't look at it. Do I need to convert the BMP to JPG?

No, that lies with the program you're using to view pictures. Do you have "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" installed on your computer? It's the default program for my computer and I can see BMP on it just fine, but I use ACDSee Photo Manager (paid for the full version) personally.

I'll have to check, I have Windows 7, so sometimes it's a little buggy when it comes to looking at pictures considering the default is some kind of editor software. Thanks!

Edit: Ohhhh, I figured it out. For some reason the BMP wants to open up in Photoshop and I didn't realize. Ha, I'm dumb, ignore me:P

Hey, what does the toolset say about when you sneak-support Bhelen and hand him the crown at the last second? He's insisting you can't be trusted because you're a murdering exile one minute and then he actually loses his composure when you - sorry, the Paragon Branka/Caridin - choose him.

Bhelen: "And we are supposed to trust this, the word of a drunken sot and a murdering exile known to be in Harrowmont's pocket?" (VO: angry, playing the crowd)
Steward: "Silence!" (VO: authoritative)
(Steward asks who Caridin/Branka picked. If Branka, VO is commanding. If Cairdin, VO is in awe.)
(DN picks Bhelen.)
Bhelen: "I... you leave me speechless. After all the venom we've spewed at each other... But I am honored you did what is right for your house." (VO: surprised and grateful)

And then cue in the cutscenes where Bhelen orders Harrowmont's execution. All the dialogue options the PC can pick from do not have any dwarf-specific conditions on them. Like if you say, "Let Harrowmont retire in peace!" -- it's not going to matter if it's the noble saying that. He responds the same as he would to all origins.

And then cut to the throne room after the crowning:

Bhelen: "You have truly surprised me, Sister." (VO: friendly)
Bhelen: "You have earned the right to rejoin House Aeducan." (VO: warmly, almost sincere)
Bhelen: "Without your aid, I would not have taken this throne so smoothly or so soon." (pleased)

And then cue in the standard dialogue. ("Throne belongs with Aeducans," "Bravo, where are my troops?" "You will be a stronger king," etc.)

I think I'm gonna go with my DC Rogue. I was curious and talked with Rica and the mom.... and wooow.

The mom apparently beat the kids or at least the PC? and the dad appeared went to the surface and never came back

Anyone get the lines with Rica saying when dad moved out the wine moved it, and how the PC was such a sweet boy/girl and then turned into carta thug that starts it Origins?

Would it be weird if I said I played the Origin and did everything for Rica? She's like... the perfect epitome of someone who looks out for her baby sibling.... and has to do the unthinkable to put money on the table.... and yet... doesn't complain and always tries to see something better out there

I think that Rica is the PC's sheath.... ya know? The one thing that stops him/her from becoming a cold hearted killer.....

Or is that just me?

She's what makes it impossible for me to side with Harrowmont, no matter how much my DC wants to see Orzammar tear itself apart. I've HEARD that she actually disowns you, but there's no way I'll be able to see that.

Jadia = Awesome. Ummm, can I ask a stupid question? How do I take screen shots? When I press my print screen (or whatever) button, it doesn't do anything.

I just remap my screen shots to F12. It works like a charm all the time. Fraps is good too. PrtSc key's behaviour  is a bit random for some reason.

Did anyone feel any sort of connection to Trian? It warmed my heart when he said he was proud of the DN for not letting grief and shame stand in his/her way. His journal made him seem vaguely well-intentioned also.
What does the toolset say about his dialog?

I had this love/hate thing with Trian. Reading his journal in his room was cool... I give Behlen props for being the best manipulator......

I did, oddly enough. My DN was very fond of raising his blood presure; it was her sisterly duty. Image IPBI got the feeling that he was always rivals with the DN but that lately it had been getting worse (such as in his last entry when he went to the Provings to remind everyone that he was still the heir which probably didn't work out like he hoped considering the DN won) because their father was getting older, the DN was gaining support from the common people, and Bhelen had been spending a lot of time with him subtly playing them against each other. That really nice dagger that the weapon merchant tried to send to the palace but Bhelen told the messenger to talk to Trian about it, for instance? Sure, Trian thought Bhelen just wasn't taking his responsibilities seriously but I think it's much more likely that he knew how offensive it would be for a messenger to ask the heir to the throne to play delivery boy for his younger sibling and just make things worse. The worse their relationship, the more likely the DN was to agree to kill him and the more likely that, either way, people would believe she did it.

I actually ended up naming Dog after Trian in that game since while he was kind of a prat, he was still her brother and she missed him.

I didn't dislike Trian, but I wouldn't say I felt a connection with him. More like I felt sorry for him. I think maybe he originally tried to help out his younger brother/sister and then came to find out that they were actually prefered by the people and their own father. It doesn't surprise me that he was hostile, I think he isn't stupid, that he knew his place on the throne was threatened by DN. I always thought that his hostility was insecurity.

Oh, I really like that idea. It might explain why he's so bitter, too. I mean, I DID try to be nice to him since he was so clearly doomed but he made it really, really difficult. Trian being insecure fits too, I think, especially with Bhelen hanging around making it worse.

Trian struck me as being insecure immediately when I talked to him. I don't think, if he had been given the throne, that he would have been a bad king. I don't think he would be excellent or anything, but I think he would kinda be like his father. Like, he spent his life trying to be like his father because he thought he would be king and then it turns out that his father prefers his younger brother/sister who is nothing like Trian. It seemed like he had the "middle child syndrome" despite being the eldest.

I have a million dwarven theories, and I almost wrote them all out in this post but that would be very similar to a book lol

He just couldn't seem to accept the DN being favored.  Like it was a grave betrayal for the DN to even  somewhat  perceive themselves the more entitled or worthy heir.
"every tradition-- everything that makes us who were are demands your loyalty to me"

I think though, he considers it more of a personal betrayal, rather than a betrayal to everything that constitutes a dwarf, regardless of what he says in his speech.
He's small like that.
I have to wonder if it's usual for Noble Dwarves to treat their siblings like that? Since you can play the DN as perfectly okay with it all.

I must admit... getting a rise out of Trian was awesome... especially when you can tell him to kiss your ***.

So it hurt all the more when you realize he wasn't out to kill you.... he was just... well...afraid of you... of your character which is quite sad in itself.....

-goes back to the debate of either playing her DC or DN-

When does he say that? When you decide to kill him? I just can't bring myself to do that since Bhelen is so obviously evil.

What does the toolset say about his dialog?

(UPON SEEING TRIAN)
Trian: "Greetings, my exiled sister/brother." (VO: Stern, solemn. With a bit of a sneer.)
Trian: "I would lament your fate, but why should I? You have been cast out to walk the surface, whereas I... hmph..." (VO: Sneering.)

(IF PC KILLED TRIAN)
Trian: "You allowed Bhelen to make you his lackey. Are you proud of what you've done?" (VO: Sneering, contemptuous, angry)

1. "Of course not."
Trian: "I know it has been hard for you. You were called kinslayer, exiled." (VO: Voice softens, sympathetic.)
1a. (IF PC SAID YES TO GUARDIAN)
Trian: "My sister/brother, I know you are haunted by shame and regret. Let the past stay in the past." (VO: A little sad, but kindly, forgiving.)
Trian: "Take this, and use it well. I give you this... and my blessing." (VO: A little sad, but kindly, forgiving.)
Trian: "Remember me." (VO: Sad, wistful.)
1b. (IF PC SAID NO TO GUARDIAN)
Trian: "But the betrayals of Orzammar do not weigh down your steps. You have not faltered, and I am proud of you." (VO: A little sad, but kindly, forgiving.)
Trian: "Take this, and use it well. I give you this... and my blessing." (VO: A little sad, but kindly, forgiving.)
Trian: "Remember me."  (VO: Sad, wistful.)
1c. (IF PC DID NOT ANSWER GUARDIAN)
Trian: "You said nothing to the Guardian. Do you feel nothing about your eldest brother's betrayal and death? Or about your own betrayal?" (VO: A little curious, but sounds a little hurt as well.)
Trian: "There is no shame in acknowledging the mistakes of the past. We must face them, before we move on." (VO: A little sad, but kindly, forgiving.)
Trian: "Ah, but I should not confuse you. You have a long path ahead of you. I hope you will be ready." (VO: A little sad, but kindly, forgiving.)
Trian: "Remember me."  (VO: Sad, wistful.)

2. "I don't have to answer you. You're not my brother."
Trian: "I am the brother you remember. The one you have seen in your dreams these past months." (VO: Voice softens. Sympathetic.)
(Rest of dialogue leads back to 1a or 1b or 1c depending on what you said to the guardian.)

3. "Are you trying to make me regret my actions, spirit?"
Trian: "Nay, you have made your feelings clear on the matter." (VO: Voice softens, sympathetic.)
(Rest of dialogue leads back to 1a or 1b or 1c, depending on if you said yes or no or nothing to guardian.)

(IF PC DID NOT KILL TRIAN)
Trian: "But I am too hard on you. Bhelen made fools of us both. Were I a spectator, I would applaud him for his clever manipulations." (VO: Sighing, sad, regretful.)
Trian: "However, I find it hard for me to remain... unbiased in this regard." (VO: Sighing, sad, regretful.)

1. "I am sorry for what I did."

Trian: "Ah, but I should not confuse you. You have a long path ahead of you. I hope you will be ready." (VO: A little sad, but kindly, forgiving.)
Trian: "Remember me." (VO: Sad, wistful.)

2. "I should never have trusted Bhelen."
(Answers the same as 1a, 1b, 1c, depending on what you said to guardian)

3." Bhelen betrayed us both. It was not my fault."
(Answers the same as 1a, 1b, 1c, depending on what you said to guardian)

4. "That is what you say, but you are not Trian."
Trian: "I am the brother you remember. The one you have seen in your dreams these past months." (VO: Voice softens. Sympathetic.)
(Rest of dialogue leads back to 1a, 1b, 1c depending on what you said to guardian)

Yes, he says it if you are about to kill him and engage him in a certain way.

DN: "where is your signet ring"

Trian: "I... uh.. I didnt wear it today. I didnt want to risk losing it in battle"

Dn: "likely story"

Trian: "Don't attempt to cast your dark shadows back on me! You have plotted to murder me so you could take my place as heir. You convinced Bhelen to help take me and my men by suprise! Do you deny it?"

DN: "You have no right to judge me"

Trian:" I have every right to judge you! I am your Prince and your Elder Brother! Every tradition-- everything that makes us who we are demands your loyalty to me"

Well, considering you're about to commit fratricide, you can't really blame him for taking it personally.

BTW, I liked Trian. I did not feel that he was an evil bastard when I argued with him in origins. It really felt natural butting heads with him because I have the same relationship with my siblings. We love each other, but we have no qualms about telling each other off and we forget about it five minutes later. Water off a duck's back. (Kind of like the father and the sons in American Choppers if you've seen that show.) I can see that I'm a burden to him and I'm making choices he doesn't agree with. I like getting snarky with him because I don't care for the way he treats my lover and telling him to kiss my ass.

Seeing Trian again in the gauntlet is one of my favorite moments in the DN origin and I always look forward to it. I get choked up. I prefer going the route where Bhelen makes a fool of my noble and misleads me into killing Trian. It humanizes my character and I can relate to Sten better when he reveals that he's slaughtered a family and is full of regret. Otherwise if Bhelen killed Trian himself and framed me for it, I'd go through the whole game being an eternal victim, wah wah. Y'know what I'm saying?

That's how I play too. Considering I plan on sending her back to Orzammar after the game, I doubt she'd want to go to a place that wrongly exiled her.
