Agronor Aeducan (Male dwarf noble) was my first run-through of the game, and I tend to consider my first run-throughs the most 'canon', because I'm making decisions without any idea at all how they turn out in the game. I was completely caught with my pants down when Bhelen said, "Oh no, I'm too late to stop him!"
I understand how some people might find getting into the romances difficult, but from the moment I saw the dialogue option to sleep with both noble hunters, I decided to RP him as a bit of a playa. (Really paid off in getting the last few +Approval from Oghren on a trip to the pearl....) Was originally leaning towards Leliana, but Morrigan won out. I knew it would end badly...but that was part of the fun! (Though Anora was tempting...quite the stone cold fox...)
And being named living Paragon at the end of DAO ranks as one of my most triumphant moments in video games. I like to think Agronor could go back to Orzammer and straighten out Harrowmont, who screwed everything up.

What Bhelen is doing will strengthen House Aeducan so when my girl gets her revenge it will be very sweet. They do say revenge is a dish best served cold don't they?
What I don't get is that my girls journal says she failed a quest - for a son she doesn't have! Does the game assume all dwarf nobles are male???

At least that's what the journal says.

Lots of origins randomly get that; it's a bug.Does the game assume all dwarf nobles are male???
And yeah, my DN didn't see how she could be both a GW and Queen of Orzammar but then Bhelen went and helped her out with that...

This actually bugs for male dwarf nobles, too, even if you've actually completed the quest.

Just another idea to consider -- wasn't Calian having an affair with the Empress of Orlais? She was a ruler in her own right and was able to keep him around her finger. Being Alistair's mistress doesn't mean you're a kitchen servant waiting to be summoned to his private quarters. It just means you've got the attention of the most powerful man in Ferelden.Sarah1281 wrote...
I'm also told that I'm 'missing out' by not romancing him as a non-HN but since him on the throne is non-negotiable for me, it will just end badly. I don't see the appeal of the 'tragic dumping for duty' and if anyone tries to suggest she be a mistress they will probably die painfully on the spot.
And furthermore, did you ever look down on Gorim because he could never be accepted as your mate, much less as a husband? No. If Gorim is good enough for you as a lover, why not have the same concept apply towards being Alistair's mistress? I don't think Anora is ever going to have a child and Alistair isn't likely to have one either. I don't think either of them will have a heir. So I would assume you'd still have Alistair all to yourself with him as sole king.
If Alistair is married to Anora, but is still in a romance with the warden, he has a line at the coronation ceremony that says, "Let her get her own conquering hero. I've got mine." I think that frames the relationship nicely. Alistair is king and the warden is a conquering hero and possibly a general of his armies. No way is she reduced to a mere mistress.
Seriously, some players get too hung up on titles such as "princess consort" or whatever the term they get in the epilogue based on whether or not they actually slept with Alistair. Who cares? It's a freaking index card! =p

Heh, I was dubious of a human romance until 1) Alistair told me how hard I've worked in the Grey Wardens without complaining (that line worked on me) and he sealed the deal with 2) telling me that being a dwarf wasn't an issue, that he was actually worried that he might be too tall for me (like he was the freak, not me since I was peeerfect).ComTrav wrote...
Late to the party, but I had to appreciate dwarves and dwarvenkind.

Paragon was one of the best moments in the game, aye. I have fantasies about returning with my Grey Warden army in tow and we're hacking and slashing our way in the Deep Roads to reclaim the lost dwarven empire, starting with the Aeducan Thiag. (Gorim is back in Orzammar keeping House Aeducan's affairs in order.) =p

Interesting way of putting it with Bhelen, heh.

you kind of have no choice but to go with Bhelen, to be honest-- if you're a DC, anyway. And Missa is going to not like the bastard, because well- he is oily, and she can see through duplicity. I always like to think Bhelen genuinely likes Rica, and/or appreciates her company. I think he's too narcassistic to love her though. Thanks for reading it though

I disagree. I think he loves her, but like a politician loves his wife in real life, he can't show it.
So that's why US politicians buy high class ****s.

see I got images of politicians with their wives on the front steps of their house in front of the press in a "public display" of support/love to showcase their relationship, especially during a scandal.
But yeah I agree with that you Bhelen can't show Rica affection due to her courtesan status. If she gets elevated to House Brosca thanks to her sibling's paragon status, however... It all changes.

it's true! Noble Hunters are like geishas and not your common or garden duster wh*re, obviously. Still, you're negotiating affection, but... Well.
Ah Dust Town; you sre so sh*teous. A woman's worth is measured by what's between your legs if you're there. Oh sureeeee you can collect garbage, clean vents... You don't have to wh*re. But Noble Hunting seems to be the only valid way out... Short of being a Grey Warden of course. >.>

Indeed. But that's leaving dwarf society, and we wouldn't want that, would we?

Btw. females have more hope for the future than the males. They can become thugs or chase nugs (tihi, it rhymes), or become one of the extraordinarily rare male noble hunters.

If they produce a male child that is. If they give birth to a daughter, they are still stuck and the father basically has to abandon his own daugther, because he can't elevate her to his rank.
A very idiotic system. I hope Bhelen crushes it under his heel.

Technically, even males can be noble hunters and if they produce a daughter with a noble woman, he and the daughter should be elevated.
Not suire that exists though.
