2. I think there ARE male noble hunters because in talking with Zerlinda in Dust Town, she makes it clear that the father was hoping to elevate his status by getting her pregnant. This isn't a love match gone wrong or anything. It didn't work out so he left her and she was stuck with a casteless baby. And I think male noble hunters were not emphasized for the female origin because our wardens very well can't be pregnant during the story -- would make it awkward and overly complicated. So I think there are male hunters -- just not as obvious.
3. I think it's fear and misinformation about the surface that keeps them in Dust Town. They don't know things are better or they become equals with everyone else. They think they're going to fall in the sky. And Zerlinda was incredulous when asking the warden about the surface. Even the VO notes for one of her lines say something like "this is like someone from Nebraska asking if people in LA get shot all the time."
4. I thought they did a good job with adding that merchant in the castless origin where he's a surfacer with a fake tattooo. He had such a good argument for going to the surface that I was speechless. I honestly had no good reason to give him for my casteless wanting to stay in Dust Town. All I could do was threaten to beat him up. =p

again, but is damn hard to forget all that. And Missa sort of has when she returned. It's so easy to say "oh why don't you just leave," but never in theory. Beaten dog syndrome, really.

*likesloghainalotmorethanalistair*Loghain, too. I just know that he's happier not being regent and I'm happier with not having to run all over Ferelden finding replacement troops to save a land whose military is involved in petty squabbles and occasionally trying to kill me.
but alistair doesnt tend to help at all in most of my games lol
my standard party is
Zevran, Shale and Morrigan
with Sten and Oghren sometimes taking certain characters places

And I really like his humor.
What alternatives does my Brosca have? Zevran? Naaah!
And she's too straight for Leliana.

If he were an actual noble hunter he could have done better than miner caste. Remember, it's noble, warrior, smith, artisan, miner, merchant, servant. Actual noble hunters like Teli and Mardy won't go with a warrior so why would a male noble hunter settle for a miner?2. I think there ARE male noble hunters because in talking with Zerlinda in Dust Town, she makes it clear that the father was hoping to elevate his status by getting her pregnant. This isn't a love match gone wrong or anything. It didn't work out so he left her and she was stuck with a casteless baby. So I think there are male hunters -- just not as obvious.
Zerlinda also says that since she hasn't seen the father since the birth she suspects he was only using her to try and apply for citizenship. Noble hunters don't have to apply since they are raised up to their son's noble House already with presumably little to no paperwork involved and certainly nothing the noble hunter has to do. I think what happened was that she fell in love with him and since that kind of thing doesn't happen much for a brand (particularly a male one) he decided to take advantage of her unusual openmindedness and told her what she wanted to hear.

They could always stay single. There are more men on the surface than Zevran and Alistair, after all. For instance, in Awakenings you find Nathaniel and Anders and there are sure to be others if you don't mind the fact that they're a different species. What alternatives does my Brosca have? Zevran? Naaah!
And she's too straight for Leliana.

She's just too much of a goodnature for Zevran. I don't know where that comes from, tho. Not from her mother apparently
Nah, Allistair is just fine.

I know why. Allister isn't really gay. That's why. Could you pleasure a man if you're into women? I'm quite sure I couldn't.Cuddlezarro wrote...

That's a good plan. Mabari puppies and orlesian cake sounds like the life my Racalia would go for.
...at least as long as Allistair doesn't bake it. Have you heared his conversation with Leliana about Lamb Stew? Uh!

When Duster is over I'll go over my Aeducan and re-roll her, and see if I can find her voice. It's sort of been tainted (in the good way!) by Aimo and a few others, so I can think clearly what it is she is.
And besides, Missa is enough for anyone's head, no? I got Lina there too, scowling at me.

The casteless origin has significantly changed my attitude about Orzammar in a lot of ways. In my first game, I went out of my way to get Zerlinda's father to take her back. I was still reeling from Bhelen's betrayal and thought family was important. After the abuse I took as a casteless, I decided sod all that. Surface was the way to go! From then on, I tend to encourage Zerlinda to take the baby to the surface. I can't bring myself to talk her into giving up the child to the Chantry. I have a toddler myself and that just seems cruel to tear a woman away from her baby, especially when she was willing to give up her life to protect him. I didn't enjoy reading the rest of her notes in the toolset where she had been convinced to kill her baby. I'm on the laptop, atm so I can't check fast, but the vibe was get away from me, murderer!soignee wrote...

Edit: I do struggle with finding a RP reason for Gilsa to be in favor of the casteless. Her father is what keeps the status quo. Trian sees no problem with this. Bhelen doesn't give an indication he cares for casteless until later on. I have to lean on the Gorim romance and her desire to be with him without the unnecessary social structure that prevents them from being together openly. It gets easier when she's exiled to the surface and when she returns to the Deep Roads and sees how hard things have been. I love Kal Hirol driving home the point.
