What is this "fanisim" of Wonder Woman? There are other comic book heros who are far more entertaining.

Like Deadpool.

Pick a female superhero and we might get on the same wavelength.

But . . . but . . . there are no female superheros like Deadpool.

She-Hulk broke the Fourth Wall before Deadpool did.

And JMS is starting a run on Wonder-Woman, which tempts me to pick it up just for that.

Does She-Hulk have Deadpool's . . . crazy awesomeness?

Hey, at least she didn't need buffed up SUPERPOWERS to kick SERIOUS ass. She only did that with the sword, chakram and whip she used in her hands and her wits and will. She was a cruel warlord hellbent on conquering the world until she decided to help it, and brought the end of Olympian Gods.

And she's all for the ladies. *ker-drool*

Xena was also a Cylon later in life, so she's got that going for her.

And She-Hulk's crazy awesomeness has sadly gone downhill. Like so many other comic book characters, she's at the whim of editorial mandates and creative teams.

so...was anyone else like "wtf is up with the lyrium veins" on their dwarf character?

My dwarf was my first, I had no idea how the lyrium veins were supposed to work. (I actually thought since dwarves were the only people able to mine lyrium, only dwarves would be able to use them/be unharmed by them, or be able to do stuff like split into four.)

Sarah1281: You have a nice idea that any of my wardens really give a **** about the laws of the land. None of them do.

Laws are useless when you have the power to break them, and no one can really stop you. What can Teagan do? Fight you? hah. I just slaughtered an entire castle of undead, and already fought him and his guards.

Why are people so quick to fall in line behind the laws and just accept them, even going so far as to defend them. I absolutely hate the fact Jowan either get's executed or killed by the templars if he helps you, and I always free him when I can.

The wardens are not going to be some errand boys ( like they are in the game ), but they are going to forge their own path, no matter who get's in their way.

The greatest people in history are those who have had the will to break any law that stood in their way. Caesar was ordered to disband his army by the senate. In stead he took it and marched on Rome and he created the Roman Empire.

Paragon Aeducan did not save Orzammar by following the laws. He ignored the Assembly and their laws and raised an army to fight the Darkspawn on his own.  Because of him does Orzammar still stand, and yet he was a criminal.

Hey ladies and gents.

I've just stumbled over this interesting article about Origins and computer roleplay games in general.

And the character it's about is a sexy dwarven commoner lady :)

Enjoy!

That's not quite the same. Aeducan didn't break the law just because he could; he did it because it was his only option. The Assembly was involved in a vicious inter-House war and if simply weren't dealing with the impending invasion. If he didn't appeal directly to the other castes Orzammar would have been destroyed.

It's not that I think the Wardens need to pedantically follow the laws but things like screwing everyone because you're the almighty warden seem likely to ****** off and alienate your allies. Sure, they might not be able to kill you if they attack but since when does that stop people from attacking? No one knows Wardens are necessary or why, not even your character or Alistair. If you go around imposing your will on everyone and making them hate you, why would they support you? The ancient treaties? None of them are willing to honor them without you dealing with their problems anyway. Eamon or Teagan have no obligation to help you and if they don't call a Landsmeet for you then nothing can be done about Loghain and you're missing a bulk of your troops. Not pointlessly pissing them off isn't being subservient, it's just common sense.

Of COURSE they don't want to free Jowan. Jowan poisoned and, as fas as they know, tried to kill Eamon. His actions inadvertently caused Connor to make a deal with a demon and turn into an abomination that killed half of Redcliffe. Yes, Isolde was also largely responsible but her actions were more of an 'I'm above the law and I'm worried about my son' variety than Jowan's 'Oh, this is a bad idea but I'm going to do it anyway despite the fact that if I just left the Templars would have no way of tracking me without my phylactery.'

In-game, you could probably end up slaughtering everyone that got in your way but there's no way the characters themselves are supposed to be that powerful. If your errant-allies attack you en masse, you're going to die regardless of whether your death dooms Ferelden. If you don't play nice, why would anyone help you? You're a murdering exile to the dwarves, you're not elven enough for the Dalish, the Circle Tower really does have their own problems, and Redcliffe has no idea who you even are. Not to mention Wardens are outlaws ever since Loghain took over. Maybe I'm just not getting how the philosophy to purposely ****** off people you're depending on for help and who don't realize they're depending on you to save them is a good idea?

You severely misunderstood my point. Not following the law of the land does not equal to being an unreasonable dick, but that does mean I will bend knee to Teagan or Eamon? Hell no.

I do not care that Jowan poisoned Eamon, after all he did it cause he thought he was serving the crown and that whole situation was because Isolde refused to send her boy to the Circle of Magi.

What do you think would have happened? Connor would have been possessed eventually, and it could have been far worse. Jowan genuinely seems to want to fix the situation, and even when he does he is given a death sentence? Sorry, but I don't agree to that.

Why do you need Eamon for anyway? The few hundred troops he has? Laughable. His vote to start the landsmeet? I have a HN who can do the exact same thing, without him. Besides you are seriously thinking he would refuse to support you at the Landsmeet because you demand Jowan be freed? I doubt that.

You can also be an unreasonable dick to everyone in the game ( and I mean everyone ) and still finish it. Oh sure you might have more companions and all that, but the end result is the same. A Blight defeated.

You do need Eamon to call the landsmeet. Your Cous-Cous has only walked around the castle, never even leaving the city prior to Howefest. You simply lack the influence of Eamon.

You are also an outlaw prior to the landsmeet.

Eamon's influence has nothing to do with his ability to call the Landsmeet. It plays a part in getting votes ( or none at all )

Loghain cannot simply refuse your call to a landsmeet when you have gathered armies under your command, especially when civil war still rages. ( As he cannot refuse Eamon, because he represents you )

None of those armies would fight Loghain. He would most certainly refuse the request of an outlawed GW.

A GW who was outlawed by only one side in the Civil War, and the only living son of the Teryn of Highever. By all means deny that. In fact it would benefit Loghain greatly if he allowed it, for when he defeats you he would have absolute control of Fereldan.

And how would those armies not fight Loghain? Eamon himself implies that they would, when says we cannot waste our forces fighting Loghain in the civil war. You are a general at the head of those armies, not some political puppet.

You would be surprised how easily those armies would follow you, considering what you have done to get them. Helped the templars/mages in retaking the tower. Killed the Dalish for the Werewolves, saved the Dalish from the Curse. Crowned the King of Orzammar.

No one really cares that much about the Blight, but more of their own personal issues. As the Steward puts it: "This is their world. It ended when Endrin died."

I wanted to comment on this but I buggered off to bed before I could and just remembered Some Thoughts.

Oh there is a reason for the codex stuff, namely why I choose to add that military thing.

First off, the Wardens are going to be generals ( not all of them of course but some ), in command of an ARMY of TENS of Thousands. This will revolve around war as much as it will revolve around the wardens themselves.

Fair enough! I'll see how the other chapters come along with it, then....

I always hate it how many fan fictions are centered around the warden and her/his lover, instead of the grander picture.

These are the most popular, too, I should mention. Sex sells, and is also very popular in this fandom. Out of all my chapters, the bits where Zevran/Missa have sweaty fun are apparently bookmarked and read often, according to the stats on ff.net.  Lulz.

Not going to lie, I've read some Aeducan/Alistair-centric stuff and it made me dawww. Even wrote it too. But my head is filled with DUSTERDUSTERDUSTER now and it's all I can write, so, meh. *looks at drawing/writing things I have to do for people and sighs*

Of course writing the smaller picture is important in any FF, but if you can't write the bigger picture then your FF is sorta weak.

Because people will fast foward to the parts they like when there's a bigger picture. Interestingly enough the last chapter I did I was quite proud of (previous ones were THIS IS NONSENSE WHAT WHY AM I PUBLISHING WHAT) and it didn't go down to well with the majority of my readers who I think read it for the party banter and the Zevran romance aspect. I know someone who likes their dwarf lore aspect liked it, but... Well, the last thing on Missa's mind was LET'S BANG LOL. For once.

The bigger the picture, the more plates to spin. Those warden/romance stuff is niched, despite popularity, and does what it says on the tin.

But don't expect this to follow the cannon story. There will be major changes along the way, and once the Blight ends...well then, things will just change.

aight! sounds infinately more interesting then Alistair/Couscous LET US RIDE UNICORNS HOLD ME MY LOVE fic this fandom is awash with, no?

The greatness of a book/movie is not determined by the numbers of people read/view it. In fact quite the opposite. Harry Potter will probably be the best sold book of all time, doesn't make it the greatest however, not by far.

If you want to write a fiction, don't do it to appease the masses, do it for yourself.

@ Soignee. That's why I quit my FF. I was planing for too much politics in it and little of what people want to see (I am not good at humour and romances).
