I really like your fic Sarah! I haven't written anything DAO yet

-points to her craptastic work in siggy-

Thanks. Posted Image

You should totally write something for DA. If nothing else, you have six different origins to choose from which makes for a lot more potential plots.

Oh I REALLY like that last fanart!

Yer welcome Sarah. Did you write anything else? -cough- would it be too much to ask if you looked at my work? -cough-

Write for DAO? Hmm. I could... but I'm afraid I'd be OOC and fail.....but writing dwarf does sound good

Did I write anything else...you could say that. Posted Image I've done one-shots for all the origins at this point (and even two with a male DN). And sure I can take a look at your work.

Your paintings are fabulous. You really should be putting those up on your zeviantart, too!

Edit: I meant deviantart, but that typo works very nicely, too, lol.

Oh, Cypher! I been meaning to write back -- I read some of your fanfic. I enjoyed the stories that I recognized like Mass Effect and some Harry Potter ones. The others are set in an universe I'm not familiar with like Twilight or Star Wars so it's hard for me to know where your character begins and which are from the books, etc. ;)

Heh. I've seen the first movie. Didn't read any of the books though. I have New Moon on my Netflix list, but it's way at the bottom. I just don't connect with the vampire fantasy. I stopped watching Vampire Diaries after a few episodes because it was so emo and cheesy (imo -- it IS a teen-angst show) although husband is watching it without me. I was pleasantly surprised by Tru Blood and really enjoyed that series because it was more adult-like.

Your real one or your dwarf one? Because I'd kill either dwarf one for a lot less...

I made it through the first Twilight movie under duress and couldn't make it through the second. Don't even ask how long the books took...And then when I went to go see movie with my mom for Mother's Day not only did we have to see a preview for Eclipse but she wou ldn't believe I didn't want to see it!

I'll put it like this: I'm a huge fan of contemporary fantasy, horror, and supernatural fiction, and when I first heard about Twilight, I thought they were making it up. I suffered through the steadily deteriorating quality of the Anita Blake books. I slogged my way through the increasingly abstract and messed up Vampire Chronicles. I've even dipped into Buffy fanfic, looking for quality stories, and found myself besieged on all sides with Spike/Xander slash written by twelve year old girls.

Only Twilight made me cry inside for the fate of the human race.

OK, I know Star Wars, but I saw the first movies when I was a kid. My husband facepalms when I tell him the ewoks were my favorite. I saw the recent movies, too, and liked them, but that's it. I saw them just once and it's been so long that I can't remember the names of most characters or who was fighting who.

Don't fret though. We have a little boy who will get old enough to sit down with his dad to have a Star War movie marathon in the living room and I will probably sit with them and get reacquainted with the movies. My husband also looks forward to the LoTR triology being viewed in the same manner. He says that the kid might end up watching the Harry Potter movies before he reads the books, but he does look forward to having the kid read the books all the same.

I actually didn't start reading Harry Potter until the third book came out. I was sort of sneering at them for some reason (I don't remember why), but the first HP movie was about to come out and my husband asked me to please read the first book before we saw the movie. So I did. And I was sucked in by it. And I had too much pride to tell him that he was absolutely right about how good these books were so I proceeded to read book #2 and #3 in private without telling him. He figured it out because he'd look at the bookshelf and see which version was missing at the time. (We take off the jacket sleeves as not to ruin them and put them on the bookshelf in their original position as a placeholder. That was my downfall!)

Ha that's cool... I'm only 22 but I remember having the orignal star wars movies on vhs and watching them a lot....its been my fav... lotr and narnia followed.... and I saw the first Potter movie on a class trip twas fun :)

my 14 year old cousin forced me to watch the Twilight movie... and I had a hard time knowing who was who, etc... so she let me borrow the books until I could get my own copies... currently reread the first three and saving up to buy Breaking Dawn

add all that in and a love for the classics- Jane Austen, Jack London, Walt Whitman, etc... I'm a certified history/bookworm

Okay, so I already hate The Gauntlet because it's just a bunch of emotional manipulation that has no bearing on whether you're worthy or not and doesn't make a lot of sense for most origins because they were pretty much powerless to prevent whatever bad thing happened to them. But The Gauntlet really doesn't make sense for a Dwarf Noble. Trian is the one who shows up? Trian is the one you're supposed to have "let down?"

I suppose it makes sense if you killed him, but what if you hated his guts and were glad he's dead? I've never killed him so far, but even on my first playthrough as DN I thought "Huh. Good riddance." when I saw his corpse.

Wouldn't it make more sense to have King Endrin show up? Did I miss something?

Trians ghost doesnt claim you failed him; he actually admits he would've been entertained by it all if he wasnt the subject. He just wants you to remember him; he also can say he's proud of you for not being burdened down by it all.
He does want to know if your are sorry for murdering him, which seems reasonable.

It would've been better if Guardian used different wording.

I think it actually makes a lot of sense. The HN--with the whole leaving their parents to die--makes the most sense with the DN second

None of the other origins really failed anyone, and its really awkward.

I don't think I would've enjoyed seeing Endrin there.

He does have slightly different dialogue if you killed him. Your exile is tied in directly with Trian's death since you are considered a kinslayer, true or no, so I guess this is why he's the stand-in for the Gauntlet. I remember the first time I saw him, I was a little confused with what he was saying because I didn't kill him, what did I have to regret? But one way to look at it is that in life, he was blaming you for everything, in death, he's still doing the same thing. =p

On my second DN game, I killed him and thought the gauntlet fit that scenario so much better. I was no longer a victim of circumstances, but someone that made a tactical error and was I suffering for it emotionally or not?

I just looked at the toolset and this is for when you refuse to answer the guardian's question. This applies whether or not you killed Trian so I think it was probably written with the PC actually killing Trian in mind and the "not killed Trian" scenario is sort of jammed in there, trying to make it fit overall.

1c. (IF PC DID NOT ANSWER GUARDIAN)
Trian: "You said nothing to the Guardian. Do you feel nothing about your eldest brother's betrayal and death? Or about your own betrayal?" (VO: A little curious, but sounds a little hurt as well.)
Trian: "There is no shame in acknowledging the mistakes of the past. We must face them, before we move on." (VO: A little sad, but kindly, forgiving.)
Trian: "Ah, but I should not confuse you. You have a long path ahead of you. I hope you will be ready." (VO: A little sad, but kindly, forgiving.)
Trian: "Remember me." (VO: Sad, wistful.)

I think everything makes much more sense if you kill him. Get to hear his cool speech; that funny insult Bhelen tells you, and some other stuff.

I wish he would still appear if you don't fully commit, but make it clear to Bhelen that you will kill Trian if he moves against you.

So killing Trian is more or less the canon version of the origin? I guess that makes sense.

Although I wish they would have made it a bit more likely that Trian was actually planning to have you killed; have Gorim deliver the message, instead of Bhelen. His constant MY DEAREST SISTER made him really suspicious, and I'd feel like an idiot if I believed him.

Yea I agree. Most Origins (except Mage that I can think of) have you be innocent and vitim to some unfortuante event. In the DN you can actually be responsable for your own misfortune. And it would also add guilt, if you want to RP it that way. And it would give you less reason to hate Bhelen (you killed your brother too).

More RP value in my opinion.

Actually Knight you can be responsible in the City Elf one as well. Should you accept Vaughn's deal.
