Beraht says something odious about how Rica is a "peach" that he's already tasted, and he offers her to the thugs and that "she's all yours."

I guess I was too busy getting pissed that he was going to go after her to actually listen to what he was saying...It kind of makes you wonder, doesn't it? When you're playing as a girl and Beraht and your mom both mention Rica saved you from being a noble hunter? Is that how she managed to do that?

She is very good at it. I believe that is part of it, yes.

You think Bhelen would be tired of that sorta atttiude, with having to grow up with Trian. By having Vartag around his son he exposes him to that same sort of haughtiness.

Chances are Vartag acts with him like Trian acted towards their father but yeah, he really shouldn't expose Endrin to that. Maybe he'll find another way to make up for Vartag spending his youth with the Aeducans? That kind of deal would have been made by his father, presumably, and so he may seek an alternative means of repaying that.

Post-Bhelen could turn out to be a disaster, we really don't know, and Harrowmont's largely irrelevant since he's around for so short a time. What matters is his successor which, unless it's the DN, is probably going to be like him. That's why I always go with Bhelen if I'm not a DN. We may not know how Bhelen's rule will end but it looks more promising than 'we're still refusing to change even though it's goint to kill us.'

Just started a new DC playthrough (no cheats or powerful item mods), and even though I know I'm gonna support Bhelen, I'm still gonna kill Vartag. They might not let you do it in the game, but if you return to Orzammar as a Paragon, well, you have almost as much autonomy in dwarven politics as the King. And I just happen to know a very skilled, loyal assassin looking for work.

Just like how I always track Frandlin Ivo down and kill him either during the game or upon my return.

I wonder if Bhelen has him killed. Assuming you're framed and Ivo knows it (no one cares about the scout and you can kill him anyway), he's a huge loose end and after people start speculting about what really happened does he really want to just leave Ivo around?

How does Bhelen handle it if you were framed and side with him? Do you ever get to clear your name, or do you remain officially a kinslayer?

As for Ivo, my DN (who -still- hasn't gotten back to Orzammar) doesn't even consider him worth noticing. He's an ambitious social climber from a weak house, and did exactly what you'd expect him to do if approached by a prince and promised support in exchange for establishing him as heir apparent. I still always give him the proving helm, though. It's not like you can take it with you, anyway.

The only dialogue difference from what I can tell is if you ask him why, he explains about Endrin convincing his brother to enter a Proving against a convicted murderer and then either asks who you think gave the murderer the poison to put on his blade or says 'like you killed Trian the moment he became a threat to you.' Then the follow-up line is either that he's wrong and you never plotted against him or Trian (in which case he says then you would fail as King and he did you a favor) or that you only killed Trian because he told you to (and he makes fun of you because it wasn't dfficult to convince you).

Bhelen reinstates you into House Aeducan regardless and Bhelen will probably either ignore the issue or claim to have found evidence that Harrowmont was behind Trian's death to further hurt that House and because Harrowmont would never have been King candidate if it hadn't been for Trian's death and your exile. Since people already are starting to doubt you did it since you got exiled as well and feel Harrowmont was overstepping himself, why not blame him? And how would it look if he reinstated the man who killed his brother? He's supposedly upset about this, remember.

And it'snot like I found Ivo's actions strange or not understandable but if he hadn't claimed he saw me kill Trian for the lulz and admitted what really happened it wouldn't have even come to an Assembly vote so Bhelen's bribes would be worthless. He was ultimately key witness that damned you and if I'm going to be killing Vartag for annoying me then Ivo is definitely going down.

I forgot what does Behlen say to the DC upon returning to Orzzamar? I mean... loosely through Rica etc you're sorta family now... and being a GW makes you equal if not above him....

He greets you as a brother/sister, but he's kinda smarmy about it. If you get right down to business, he says something like "we may not have to like each other, but we have to work together".

How do you get him to say that? I've never gotten that dialogue even when I was trying to annoy him (then agan I was playing a DN at the time hence my motivation to do so and it was almost a completely different conversation then everyone else gets).

I don't remember the exact dialogue options. It's been a while, and I've played an elf and human since that character. It was when he sends you after Jarvia. I think I started off with "If you're talking about killing Jarvia, I want in!" He tells you that he likes how you get right to the point, then says the bit about not having to like each other.

I just remember that my DCM was kinda brusque, not having any patience to do the usual political dance, and got right down to business. The whole conversation, he's outwardly polite but subtly mocking you throughout. Typical Bhelen, really.

ROFL.

Funny enough that it's actually just a temporary icon. I got inspired when you were trying to upload a new TiM avatar and I wanted to see how much trouble it would be to create my own. Now that tmp has uploaded these new hair styles, I shall spend the morning playing with character customizations!

Inspired by Jhosephine, who is a goddess of manipulation. This is her current avatar:

I took screenshots of both characters separately, cut their heads out and placed them next to each other. And then after I changed the overall color, I just cropped it down to 146x146 and saved it as a .png image. Made a new character in dragon age and overwrote the default avatar by replacing it with the photoshopped image and waited for it to upload to Bioware.

A bit OT, but this is the dwarf thread, so . . has anyone else gotten the Aeducan Mace from Bhelen instead of Trian's Maul? I was just reading the wiki, and it appears that you're supposed to get the maul as reward for crowning him. My old DC got the Aeducan Mace, even though he'd already gotten the same (or similiar) one from Duncan early on.

I've never gotten it. The mace Duncan gives you is from an Aeducan that was a GW. What did you do to help Bhelen in that playthrough? Something more than just delivering the forgerees to Dace and Helmi, killing the carta, and finding a Paragon?

This is what Gilsa posted from the toolset on the subject awhile back.

IF: BHELEN_SUPPORT 8+

SET: ORZ_END_REWARD_AEDUCAN_MACE

ACTION: The player gets a mace that is enchanted against darkspawn.

Bhelen: "This is an ancient mace of House Aeducan. It's said to be enchanted against darkspawn. I think you need it more than I do."

IF: BHELEN_SUPPORT 5+

SET: ORZ_END_REWARD_TRIANS_MAUL

ACTION: The player gets a nice maul.

Bhelen: "This was a maul favored by my brother Trian. Take it with you as a reminder of your ties to Orzammar."

(IF: Dwarf Noble) Bhelen: "You may recognize this. Trian used it to crack skulls when he was showing off for Father. I'm sure he'd want you to have it."

DEFAULT (There are no conditions and no reward assigned -- looks like if player has less than 5, then this dialogue is supposed to fire instead.)

Bhelen: "Now, I have much to do. If there is nothing else..."
