I really like the lighter shade of blonde, too, and I'm thinking my next DN will have that color (same hairstyle as that really is the only one I feel looks noble enough). What's interesting about the two blonde options is you can look more like Bhelen's sister or like Trian's. The light blonde is prettier, though.Gilsa wrote...
My new DN. The blonde hair, especially that shade, is going to take some getting used to, but I wanted the same hair, skin, and eye color as Trian so she'd look like his sister. Plus it helps the character to feel different from my canon DN so I don't play the same. In Mass Effect, I had to give my character black lipstick to remind myself to go for the renegade choices more. LOL.Sarah1281 wrote...
But a noble would be looking to gain power over him. Not to mention that his prospects won't be as good as they are once he' king and lots of nobles use noble hunters.Well, she is useful to him, but a noble would be even more useful. So I say that there at least is a semblance of love.
Gilsa, is your new avatar Orlesian or DN?

I was *this* close to making her have black hair because I already had a blonde dwarf, but I knew it would grate on me after a while since I like to RP the dwarves as much as I can. Maybe black for my next Brosca. Can pretend she's going emo or something.
Or that dad had black hair with recessive redhead genes.

Heh, I don't know how you put up with so much girl talk with all the threads you participate in -- Zev, Al, this one, etc. Want to paint our toenails for us? =p

She doesn't even need to dye her hair. She can just be Rica's half-sister (which some of the dialouge suggests anyway) and have dark hair. Red is recessive, after all. Or maybe they can be full siblings but the dark-haired father still had the recessive genes for red hair.Gilsa wrote...

It does? I thought their father left for the surface. I didn't see a reference to another father.Sarah1281 wrote...

I thought that when you were posting the Rica and DC Mother dialogue you and soignee were speculating because Rica said "your father." I don't know, though, I still can't bring myself to play through the DC origin again. It's just too depressing.Gilsa wrote...

More gals than guys. I am terribly used to the "not seeing you that way" line. Girls do make good wingmen though.

Wow, you're right. It says "your father" in a few places in Rica's dialogue. I'll check out the mother's dialogue to see if she contradicts this.

It doesn't. I remember going over this ways back in this thread. *shakes fist at English and it's nonspecific pronouns*

yup, which is why Missa looks the way she does. I speculated that Mammy Dearest picked on her the most due to the fact she looked like the man that walked out on her and left her to rot in Dust Town.

Which is why the DC has more freedom in what they can look like realistically than the DN since they have an older and younger brother so unless Endrin had three Queens it stands to reason she'd look like one of them.soignee wrote...

Of course, the Orlesian probably has the most freedom in how they look since they aren't shown with any relatives.

Yeah, I regret not making my orlesian a lot darker overall for that reason, but the real problem is that I secretly want the male cornrow hairstyle to use on a female character. I have no problem redoing my orlesian at a later date.Sarah1281 wrote...

If you kill the Dace heir in the honor proving during the DN origin, then do Bhelen's first task when you get back to Orzammar, does he or his daughter ever acknowledge that?

I don't think so. But then again, Lady Dace makes it clear that she's pretending not to know you because your House rejected you and I'm not sure you can even tell Lord Dace who you are.BigBad wrote...

What do you think of Trian, anyway? Annoying obstacle standing in your and Bhelen's way?Less points for Trian for being extremily bossy and tradtionalist (which wouldn't go well with Bhelen and his castless mistress).

No, just a not so competent jealous brother, that Orzammar can do without. In Dain's mind at the very beginning, he though he was what Orzammar needs and not a blind traditionalist. He then found out that Bhelen is also what Orzammar needs.
He didn't think much of Trian no. But he didn't really hate him. And was ok to kill him if Trian tried to do so himself. But he preferred to assume the throne via the support of the Assembly and not via bloodshed, unless absolutely necessary.

Just want to confirm -- once you leave the home and talk to Leske for the first time, Rica's gone at that point, right? You don't see her if you come back with the wine for the mom?
I've not done it myself, but I've seen stuff in the Toolset where Leske is all HEY BB HOW YOU DOING to Rica and Rica tells him to politely go away, which is lulzy.

I'm planning on starting Brosca 3.0 eventually and will try to remember to come back and see if it's possible. The conversations just keep shedding more light on Orzammar's attitudes and supersitions. Kind of helps explain why casteless don't all just up and go to the surface already.soignee wrote...

PC: Have you ever met a surfacer named Oskias?
Rica: "I don't think so. Beraht doesn't like us spending time with anyone from the surface." (doubtful)
Rica: "It's bad luck if you're trying to get pregnant. Too much air, too far from the Stone. The baby wont take." (earnestly. completely believes the supersition.)
Rica: "You could try Tapsters, though. Beraht never lets us go there because too many traders come in." (trying to be helpful)
