What's even stranger is that Rica is the one calling her practical. It's amazing how quickly she's been brainwashed. People should, at best, put their House concerns directly below making sure the darkspawn don't kill them all. well of course... The Assembly is sort of the Tories in the 80s, imo. Minus the fratricide...

Tell that to the banns who thought that a blight was the perfect time to start a civil war against Loghain.

A government made of two or more parties in a coalition?

I'm not sure they realized it was a Blight when the civil war started. This was directly after Ostagar and in response to the rumors about Cailan's death and Loghain's avoiding the Landsmeet by declaring himself regent. Even at the Landsmeet, the nobles all give the indication that the only reason they believe it to be a Blight is because there is now proof. The South has fallen and refugees are pouring in everywhere. Even Loghain can't deny it anymore and we know just how much he wants to.KnightofPhoenix wrote...

Even still, the banns rebelling against Loghain was not a prudent decision. Of course, Loghain failing miserably to keep them in line is also a problem. But he didn't want civil war, the banns did. Like Ignacio said, the civil war brought old grudges to boil.
Compare his performance to Bhelen however, who so easily disbanded the Assembly, despite being in existence for a millenium.

THOUGH. I will say a hung parliament is like the Assembly and what the player walks into as a Grey Warden in Orzammar. Seriously.

I am very interested in the French presidential elections of 2011.
It's clear Sarkozy's poll rating diminished substantially, but I am pretty sure he is the UMP candidate. There is no way Segolene Royale is the Socialist candidate, so I wonder who will take her place. Francois Bayroux is probably the UDF candidate though I don't see him winning.
Jean Marie Le Pen is probably the Front National candidate, like he's been for 40 years.

Loghain had the right sense of mind to declare himself reagent, regroup his armed forces and strike at the darkspawn. Anora simply could not have remained sole ruler unless there was much debating, debating they simply did not have time to do with 24 Divisions of Chevaliers Massing to their west and a Blight to their south.
I am inclined to believe there would have been Civil War regardless. We all know what happened when a Fereldan king died without a heir ( Sophia Dryden war ).

It's okay, he'll just get his missus to take more clothes off on the beach and get photographed, will bet hard money on it. *cynical snort*

Idk, I read that she might be running again but... Hmm. She seems to be stronger now against Sarkozy, though.

Tell you what...before the elections started, the Parliment dissolved the government after a vote of no confidence....and after the elections started he was AGAIN put as Prime Minister...
I think Emil Boc has already led four, or wait FIVE governments already, each of them failing harder then before...
Right now they just pissed off the teachers in my country by refusing to raise their salaries by 40%, as promised last year, and are even going to cut them further by 25%. Apparently the teachers are going to boycott the school year right now before exams.
Lovely.

Yeah, Loghain had to make himself regent to ensure Anora was kept on the throne but if that's not what happened it would hardly be a disaster. The Chevaliers seem content to just wait at the border when they aren't allowed in and I don't think they're really mentioned after Loghain complains to Cailan. If they're not allowed in and Celene believes it to be a Blight why would they invade? They'd need to deal with the darkspawn and the Fereldens when if they were invited once the Fereldens got desperate they could just focus on one at a time and then do what they did after the Third Blight and not leave.Costin_Razvan wrote...
The civil war did not start as soon as Loghain marched from Ostagar. In fact Howe tells Loghain during a cutscene that it only starts once you recruit one army, the same one where Zevran is sent after you.

I thought the Dryden affair was more a rebellion than a war and put down easily enough when they laid siege to Vigil's Keep. Dryden's support wouldn't have even been as strong as it was without Avernus' blood magic to nudge the nobles and there were accusations flying around that Arland was a tyrant. Sure, Avernus could be lying but the demon confirms that Sophia believed it, even if they were obviously biased.

As for the Chevaliers, perhaps so, but you cannot ignore them as Fereldan and just focus on the darkspawn.
