Challenger? Pfeh, it's the reigning champion.

Edit: Though dwarves give me more of an Aztec vibe. Splitting hairs <_<

Not champion yet. First, I need to see some "qunari" pyramids. THEN they're the champions. Speaking of qunari, I can't help that they're both "American" in some way(probably a mix of South and North). I've tried to pinpoint their accents. Both seem to have that, well, I don't know how to described. It's just that when you look at Armaas from Awakening, you can't associate his accent with any other European/Asian/African/Australian one. It sounds Northern American but more robust. The Dwarves also have that "hard to distinguish" accent as well. And I can't help but think that Oghren is your typical U.S. binge drinker...or something.

Dwarven accents sound pretty similiar to Midwestern or Southwestern American.

The Return to Korcari Wilds mod.

Oh, and I thought that was an official DLC.

Hah...that's laughable considering what DLCs we have for DA:O so far.

Check the trailer: Here.

I think I will rub it in my friend's face, who is a massive fan of Xbox.

Huh. I'm sorta leery of fan-made companions, voiced or not. Just don't see a need for them. And there are already more good sets of armor and powerful weapons in the game than I have people to use them.

But the armors look awesome. Seriously mods adds quite a lot to the game. It will be interesting for me to see how this Honor Guard and Human Commander agree/disagree with my choices.

I've got a few mods that I use, and more I've tried and discarded.

Quinn's Fixpatch is awesome, especially since it restores dwarf-origin-specific dialogue to the Ash Warrior in Ostagar, letting you hear the tale of Luthias Dwarfson. DCs and DNs get different comments during the tale.

I really want the dialogue-fix ones. And possibly some of the armor-appearance ones because their really isn't enough variety.

The problem with PC mods, especially dialogue fixes and bug fixes, is that there are at least a dozen different mods that fix various problems, but no mod that fixes them all. And most of them conflict with each other.

Why are they so incompatible?

Because modders work solo and, at this early point in the DA:O modding scene, rarely consider compatibility with other mods except as an afterthought. Also, a lot of modders aren't content with fixing bugs and glitches but also include custom content in the same mods, which only increases the incompatibility issue.

I was sort of thinking the same thing. I also see some other similiarities(sp?) between the Qunari and Dwarves, mainly that they're both technologically advanced. OK, maybe the Dwarves aren't what they were before but seeing the gate in the Deep Roads that led to Vigil's Keep seemed pretty advance. The Dwarves were clearly more ahead of their time. It's a pity lots of things were lost when the Darkspawn came. I'd actually like to discover more lost Thaigs in the next Dragon Age game.

I see the dwarves and qunari as two sides of the same coin. Both have highly restrictive social structures wherein everyone has a very specific place. Both are naturally strong and hardy races with a natural inclination to excel at warfare. Both are technologically advanced compared to other races/nations of Thedas. Both are inhibited, racially or culturally, from making use of magic.

The main difference, other than height, is that the dwarves are in decline, the last, crumbling remnants of what was once a mighty empire that rivalled the Imperium itself. The qunari, on the other hand, are in ascendance, waging moderately successful campaigns against other races/nations and already planning their next strike. The qunari may have been beaten back, but they haven't lost their glory, culturally or technologically, while the dwarves are mere remnants of what they once were.

I imagine that, had the dwarven kingdoms not fallen to darkspawn, they'd be one of the primary powers in Thedas, and certainly on par with the qunari in matters of technology and war.

I speak to a modder and he says the same--- no one works together, which is weird. He tries to, though.

How do you find out if two mods will work together? Trial and error?

Pretty much. Or, you could do it the hard way and go through the readmes and changelogs to compare every file changed with those affected by the other mod you want to check. Otherwise, install both and see if it causes horrible glitches or crashes.

Or, do what I do, and wait to check the comments on the mod and see if anyone else did it first. ;P

I try to.  And there are some others who also try.  But then there are problems with mods that just can never be compatible, and people get upset because of this.

Edit: As an example, there are two mods I can think of that add things to Alistair's romance.  Because they're both built on the same file, they will never be compatible.  They're different changes, and they had different goals in mind.  However, with one of them, it was very easy to make her mod compatible with mine, though yes, you WOULD have to read the readme to figure out how, or ask one of us.

I don't see why people get so upset. I switch my mods around alot depending on who I'm romancing. If I'm romancing Ali, I use the Alistair's Dialogue Patch, if I'm romancing Zev, I use your mod. The same with Morri. If you're not romancing someone then you probably won't see a lot of their dialogue anyway. But I don't mind a few lines being weird (Ali's in particular)

That's pretty much why I like the Dwarves better than Humans or Elves. Their past is so interesting and yet mysterious. Same goes for the Qunari although they're mysterious all around. I think the Dwarves actually make the Darkspawn seem more important because of how much they've devastated the Dwarven Kingdom(I could also add the Anderfels as an example). My observation is that surface-dwellers(I'm mainly referring to humans) don't take the Darkspawn as seriously enough. Sure Blights are devastating but I'm thinking that for them it's like, "Well, Blights only come once in while so I should we care?". Pretty much explains why the Grey Wardens are ignored. They're like the Watch from A Song of Ice and Fire series(if you've read the books). They're cause is pretty much miniscule to everybody else.

Fortunately, I don't get a lot of the same complaints.  But I know some others do, but unless someone is willing to release their B2Bs, there's just not much you can do.

Is that just for dialogue mods or do appearance-changing mods have the same sorts of problems?

I'd imagine that face/hair/skin/etc. mods are some of the worst, but I never use them so I couldn't say. I can only play on the lowest graphical setting, so I don't bother with cosmetic stuff that'll only make a difference on higher settings.

Oh, why not? Most of them are just one-shots anyway.

Hmm . . . I suppose that writing stories is a good way to pass the time.

Much better then how I pass the time anyway.
