Pondering whether to make a shamefully typical "I SUPPORT A DWARF LOVE INTEREST" sort of thread someplace on the boards.

I really want one, okay :/

Well, there's a glimmer of hope in an old post from David Gaider:

And I'm not sure why everyone is so concerned about dwarf romances. If
you're playing a dwarf and you think it's weird, then my suggestion
would be not to romance anyone. One day, however, we WILL do a
dwarf-specific romance. I swear it.

Maybe in DA2? Or maybe whatever they have planned for February? ^_^

My Surana has a thing for dwarves...I hope the romance isn't dwarf-exclusive (which would be silly/excessive)

Thank you for that ray of sunshine, Gilsa! <3

I think I'm the only person who actually doesn't mind romancing human women with a male dwarf. Sure, it looks a little bit funny in the sex scene, but that's only like 30 seconds of the whole game.

My dwarf wishlist is for better dwarven massive armor sets, because we're currently limited to Legion armor (whose stat bonuses outright suck compared to the better armor sets in the game), Blood Dragon armor (which is just plain ugly due to horrible tinting/texturing/whatever), and regular old mundane sets.

Okay, soignee...took me awhile to get through all the physical bits (that pairing...why?) but I'm done reading your two-shot. I liked it even though it was sad. And Sigrun! Why?!?! I don't even...

So even though it was pretty much just a story that focused on the relationship with Alistair, you liked it? Aaaaw yeah. *scroll quickly* past the sweaty bits, it's fine.

AND THE THING WITH SIGRUN I IKNOW. I KNWWWWW. I hate myself, don't worry. If I have the time of inclination I may add that nothing happened and they just woke up together as I CAN'T DO THAT TO SIGRUN. You know, work on that when I can't seem to work on Duster and vice verca. Multi tasking may make me procrastinate less and write more, you never know.

OK.

1. Alistair at 100 love. Hardened.
2. Arl Eamon has been revived. He wants to put Alistair in line for the throne.

I STILL cannot get the option to tell Gorim that I'm in love with the future king of Ferelden. I think these "I'm in love with so and so" lines are just toolset decorations and didn't actually make it into the game. Too bad. I had wanted to see his chuckle.

Edit: Now I'm wondering ... re: crowning Harrowmont and telling Gorim that they are now avenged, if that's just toolset fluff or if that actually triggers in the game.

you harden (hurrr durrrr) your Alistair if you're in love with him and what him off the throne? I don't. KEEP HIM INSECURE, BOY OH BOY.

I mean, uh. Tell him he has a family with you. Or something.

No, he's going to be king in this game. I always harden him anyway. I'm not a fan of the hardening system for both Al and Leliana (why single those two out?). I see no reason to hold their hands -- 1) nobody held my characters' hand and 2) my pc isn't always going to be around to protect them -- they need to be more self-sufficient.

I understand Alistair because big decisions depend on him being hardened but Leliana's is weird. But it is probably because they are the only real "innocent" characters. I wish that their were more opportunities reinforce their hardened attitude and then their personal quest just put their new personality into affect.

An Ode in Appreciation of the Dwarven Form
Ser Micchalotta di Antiva

Prologue: Antivan Single Ladies

Maker's breath.
Rebecca, observe her bottom.
It is so big.
She looks like a dwarven noble's mistress.
I cannot account for dwarvish tastes.
They only speak to her because she looks like a noble hunter (as they term it).
Her bottom, it is just so big
I cannot believe it is so round, it protrudes
It is utterly unseemly.
She is such a dwarf.

The Ode

I like dwarf girls and I can not lie
You gentlemen cannot deny
And when a lass walks in with a tiny slender waist
Her round hips shaking with such fine grace
You take notice

Oh fair ones,
When it comes to ladies
I abjure the common fashion
36-24-36
Only if she's 4'10"

I had to skip a bit of the first chapter do to all the physical proof of my least favorite pairing. The musings about Orzammar were really interestig, though. Harrowmont turning them away at the gate is just so much fail that I refuse to believe it happens if you're the DN (for why would he listen to the DC?) and head back to Orzammar immediately to convince him to let them in. Seriously, what possess him to think that's a good idea? Is he afraid of an invasion? They'll be in the city for all of five minutes on their way to the Deep Roads. That's IT. He could have them escorted or something if it really bothers him.

And the 'nothing happened' is what I choose to believe, too. I mean...Oghren. I mean, I love him (though Awakening really made that difficult) but I have difficulty understanding why Felsi would settle down with him much less Sigrun. And what made you decide on Sigrun/Anders? I have honestly never encountered that before.

I STILL cannot get the option to tell Gorim that I'm in love with the future king of Ferelden.

Is there the option to do either that or tell him you're in love with the king after the Landsmeet? I mean, if you leave to go find Goldanna two seconds after finding out Alistair is Maric's and before you even enter Redcliffe, you can still say 'well, you are going to be king' even though no one's said that at all.

But it is probably because they are the only real "innocent" characters.

Alistair, maybe, but Leliana the ex-Orlesian bard is in no way an 'innocent' character. Repentant, yes, and trying to be a good person but you can't regain lost innocence through sheer force of will.

I finally got around to reading soignee's Alistair/Aeducan story. Although Sigrun doesn't actually settle down with him, just possibly has drunken sex.

Corker, ILU. I just typed this all out on a whim. A crazy, coffee and sugar related whim. Mostly due to my boss telling me off for drawing a 'fat' woman today.

"I have a poem for you, my dear." Missa fixes Zevran with a look and goes on looking at the skyline of the Antivan city, scowling slightly.

"Oh really. a poem. This should be good. Because last time you read a poem to me it went down well, right?"

Zevran chuckled slightly. "As I recall, it got you into bed."

"Many things will get me into bed, Zev. Don't flatter yourself."

Her lover draped an arm around her shoulder and leered. "Such fine words you say to me..." She looked up at him with a quirked eyebrow and sighed.

"Go on then," she said, trying not to smile.

He cleared his throat once into his hands, a serious look on his face:

"An Ode in Appreciation of the Dwarven Form
Ser Micchalotta di Antiva

Prologue: Antivan Single Ladies

Maker's breath.

It is so big.
She looks like a dwarven noble's mistress.
I cannot account for dwarvish tastes.
They only speak to her because she looks like a noble hunter (as they term it).
Her bottom, it is just so big

At this, he got punched in the arm. Having been around Missa long enough he knew how to sidestep out of the hit when it came, but wasn't quick enough for the other hand clipping him around the ear. "My bum is not big!"

I cannot believe it is so round, it protrudes
It is utterly unseemly.
She is such a dwarf.

Missa scowled and Zevran backed away with a grin on his face, but still continued. "Start running," and she chased him along the rooftop of their palazzo, ducking from the semi-playful hits when they came. They would hurt if they landed, however.

The Ode

I like dwarf girls and I can not lie
You gentlemen cannot deny
And when a lass walks in with a tiny slender waist
Her round hips shaking with such fine grace
You take notice
Oh fair ones,
When it comes to ladies

."

Missa processed the words with a look of disbelief on her face, trying to fight his hold on her hands. When he released her she punched him on the arm again for good measure, to which he only reacted to by laughing evilly.

"What in stone was that? That's even worse about the one about the barrel and the fish wife. Where did you learn it?"

"A rather fine gentleman in the tavern earlier. The one that propositioned you, if you recall." Of course she could; she threatened to remove his balls through his nose for slapping her arse, which Zevran smoothly dismissed as 'cultural misunderstanding' before a fight broke out.

She put her face to her palm. "Seriously, you're bad. Bad."

"And when were we ever good? How dull."

Oh man that was lulzy fun! *goes back to tryinng to attempt work*

it's canon, even if you're a DN he'll turn them away. I may continue the fic actually, as I want to do the flipside to the Bhelen stuff I am working on now, as a DN pretty much has free reign and more strings to pull.

1) The Anders thing is merely a hook up in my head, but go read/listen to the banter again. Tooth achingly sweet. Sigrun is fascinated by magic and Anders would totally take advantage. Not sure how it's going, may suprise me may not.

2)Also I wrote is that Sigrun and my Aeducan have "surfacer guilt." It's similar to if you're a culture that's as far removed from your partner's, and you feel you're not a proper >insert race/religion here< for being with them despite the fact you love them. Also there's a part of you that your partner will never get, but some of >insert race/religion< would. That's what I was going with with the Oghren/Sigrun thing, and I hope it got across.

My epilogue card always bugs out so I've never personally encountered it, thus I have no reason to accept it.

I really don't think I want that epilogue fixed as then I might be forced to believe it...If it really makes a difference in DA2 then I do have a file with both kings.

@Sarah -- I'm still going to try talking to Gorim after Landsmeet when Alistair is king to see if that option comes up. Not holding my breath. I just got Zevran in my party so I need to lavish gifts on him and get the romance turned on to see if I can tell Gorim I'm in love with an elf. It's too late to test with Leliana as I already set her to friend status and I don't remember how far back that dialogue was or I'd have reloaded and retested.
