It shows that they look down on you? I've never managed to do it because, well, I hate House Dace. Do people actually say things or is it just the tone? And do they look down on how obvious and easily you can get bribed or the fact that you put your own wealth about that of your Houses should the vote pass? And if everyone's so against it how would your endorsement help? Or would some of the lesser Houses want it to go through so the main ones would lose money?Gilsa wrote...
@follis2 -- yay, welcome! I used to let DN be bribed to speak up for the surfacers for the easy 25g, but after reading toolset notes about all the other dwarves actually looked down on your character for doing as much, I became reluctant to get my money this way. (It's not as bad as taking Vaughn's bribe in the CE origin, but still.) If you get the shield giveaway from Alienware, you can get a shield that is worth 16g so I sell that in origins instead. =p

I will harvest the related lines from the toolset. It's partly VO notes and partly the kind of ambient lines that would trigger for doing this and partly because Trian brought it up as a point of embarrassment in the confrontation. =pSarah1281 wrote...

Dace: "I have a question. I seek to know the prospect better." (formal)
King Endrin: "Lord Dace, head of House Dace, speak." (formal)
(IF: PC lost Provings Honor) Dace: "Lords, ladies, you have seen the ancestors honor my house today. With their guidance, I bring a question concerning the plight of our lost surface kin." (a little smug -- his son just beat the player in a duel, he's pretty much got the player right where he wants him)
Dace: "Lords, ladies, my question concerns the plight of our wayward kin, the so-called surface caste." (formal, rehearsed)
Dace: "What does the commander prospect think is the proper place for these lost souls?" (formal, rehearsed)
1. They should be respected, but no more.
King Endrin: "Are you satisfied, Lord Dace? Do you feel you have learned something about the prospect?" (satisfied -- his child didn't embarass him by falling for Dace's scheme)
Dace: "Yes, my King." (trying to supress anger and humiliation. I imagine he says this through clenched teeth or something) (SET: Dace_Beaten)
2. The surface dwellers are less than men.
3. They are as we are and should have their rights returned.
Dace: "Thank you, my lady/lord. I am satisfied." (smug -- he just tricked the player into saying that his father should pay Dace's debts)
King Endrin: "Then if there are no other challenges..." (cold. he's going to have a word or two with the player later about letting himself get manipulated by Lord Dace.)
King Endrin: "I give you Orzammar's next commander!" (dramatic announcement)
(IF: PC lost Provings Honor) 4. In honor of your son's victory, I will hear you out. Later.
------------------------------------------------------
Ambient conversations in palace from random nobles:
(IF PC FAVORED DACE)
"Is it true Lord Dace is your real father?" (mocking)
"Just another one of Dace's puppets." (mocking)
"Well, it seems Lord Dace got what he wanted out of you." (disappointed)
(IF PC HUMILATED DACE)
"I'd watch my back if I were you. Dace will want revenge." (warning)
"Well-played for one so young." (congratulatory)
"Good to see Dace fall flat for once." (smug)
--------------------------------------------------------
When you talk to Dace after speaking up on his behalf:
PC: "Am I going to regret helping you?"
Dace: "I sincerely hope not." (slight amusement)
(IF: no_bribe_offered) Dace: "After all, you were only standing up for what you thought was right." (snide -- he knows he used the player's ideals to manipulate him/her.)
OR --
PC: "What about your part of the deal?"
Dace: "Blunt as ever, hmm? Very well, then." (sounds unimpressed)
Dace: "Here is the information I promised. There is a plot against your life. Something to do with tomorrow's battle." (there should be a note of warning in his voice.)
Dace: "Look to your own house, my friend. This plot is one of Aeducan design." (warning)
Dace: "Now, I must be off to prepare for tomorrow. Do excuse me." (businesslike, but polite)
----------------------------------------------------
During the Trian confrontation, he will mention what happened with Dace based on how it went down:
Trian: "And do they tell you I am weak and ripe to be displaced? That I will be easily moved aside so you can sit on Father's throne?"
PC: "How dare you accuse me."
Trian: "Just stop. You have gone too far this time."
(IF: bribed) Trian: "Selling your favor to Lord Dace, I could overlook." (scornful and sneering)
OR (IF: Dace_Beaten) Trian: "You showing off at the expense of elderly Lord Dace, I could overlook." (scornful, sneerint)
(Those are the only two Dace lines with Trian)

So....they kill Gorim in Darkspawn Chronicles...sigh.
This isn't doing anything for my faith in Alistair, let me tell you.
I wonder how long it will be before the 'People of Ferelden' codexes show up on the wiki.

The fangirls are in uproar over Alistair. Just further proves my point they are obsessed. Oh they can so easily overlook Alistair siding with Howe, but romancing Leliana? never...

I like the plot part far better than the mindless killing part and until I hear that that's worth it I'm not going to rush out and get it.Costin_Razvan wrote...
Your not getting it? Ah but it's so fun to kill him!

And I'm not an Alistair fangirl by any means but I'd rather him side with Howe then romance Leliana. Maybe it's just the part with a Leliana romance that bothers me? It always creeps me out. Besides, I don't think they have any chemistry whatsoever and it just makes it seem like Alistair's desperate for a GF. I would have liked it better had he and Morrigan had chronic hate-sex. And why not side with Howe? If he could get something out of it and needed the support since he couldn't be bothered to go to Haven then it makes sense.

Most of the Alistair fangirls are HN, HNF who hate Loghain for allowing Howe to do what he did to their family, for the slavery thing, for the assassination attempt etc.
Then suddenly Alistair sides with Howe? Oh the hypocrisy, It's not the fact he sides with Howe that makes my blood boil. Oh not, but that Alistair fangirls have defended him tooth and bone for the Landsmeet thing by stating Loghain is a criminal and should die, and now they suddenly ignore what Alistair does with the bigger criminal in the scene?!

Teagan might have been able to take up the mantle as Arl and call the Landsmeet but he hates politics and tries to stay out of it so there's no way he could have the same kind of support that Eamon did and Howe, despicable and unpopular though he was, was the Arl of Amaranthine and Denerim as well as the Teyrn of Highever. He's basically ruling half the country here and Alistair's supposed to just kill him out of principle? Of course, if he later insists that Loghain has to die for being a criminal than that's hypocrisy but we know Alistair's capable of that from his 'I could hate you more than anyone but Loghain but I would never just leave in the middle of a Blight...what? Loghain's not dead? I'm done.'

Loghain is dead in that story. If he was alive then yes I could agree with what you said...
You can pretty much understand that my blood is boiling at this point, especially since I can't get the DLC to chop his head of!

It doesn't make him a hypocrite. And I still don't know if he went to Howe's mansion, without that most of us would know zilch about him.
