There are dozens of interesting, unique, and well rounded dwarf characters in the game. In fact, there are precisely two bitter, violent, anti-social alcholic dwarves to be found, an origin-specific NPC with entirely optional and skippable interaction . . . and the recruitable party member. Gah.

I didn't have an ulterior motive when I offered she was just a Paragon I wanted to bring back and that was before finding out I needed to get her support. Yeah, I wasn't really concerned with her personally but how could I have been when I either never met her or barely knew her given she was a noble for all of six months before leaving?

I don't think Oghren thought thought that hard about it, since your distinction of Grey Warden will obviously make your motives different from everyone elses...But he's just lumping you together with everyone else whos talked with him on the issue. It really doesnt make a lot of sense, but he's probably still smarting from the argument with the guard, and just wants to feel like a big-man no matter how stupid it is.

He also doesn't acknowledge you as a DN, does he?
when he sobers up, he doesnt seem to care what your motives are, just as long as you find Braka.
