Hey...at least you got 7.000 words together! I am still stuck at 500, and been so for over four hours while reading through this thread and killing Pagan Lithuanians in Medieval 2.

Nothing like a good execution to warm the heart.

See, that's why it takes me two days to do a chapter. I can't get much more than 4K done in one day.

So anything else on the agenda other than bad self confidence? It makes me feel uneasy.

Edit: Yes, I know I started it.

There's always dwarf kisses!

Fixed vanilla Zevran dwarf kiss.  No more nose kisses!  Gah, I really do need to learn how to use the cutscene editor beyond this!

Pfff, I've been conquering galaxies in my 20+ hours SP map in Sins of a Solar Empire, while reading the thread. Nothing like commanding a race made of space psychic females only (my favorite faction).

On what difficulty Knight? If you have done that on hardest level, then I am impressed.

And don't tell me about races made out of females... I still have Nightmares about Night Elves in multiplayer of Warcraft 3

I've been talking to my wives and other assorted creatures on IM, writing fanfic and resisting the urge to buy stuff online.

All go here.

Yea, hardest. 60+ planets. 8 factions, free for all. 3 factions remain (excluding myself), one of which is an ally for now.

What I dislike is how small the pop cap is. In a huge map like this, you can barely have 3 average sized fleets, which is not enough to defend all your planets / systems and conquer new ones at the same time. Not to mention cultural annoyance, but Advent can wipe away cultural dominance relatively easily compared to others.

Is Sins of a Solar Empire any good? I heard it was boring.

If you don't mind spending hours on a single game, then no it's not boring.
Even on the smallest maps, it would take you about 30 minutes to an hour minimum to finish and that's depending on difficulty.

I personally love it, managing economy, diplomacy, research / development, culture and the military at the same time (though it is still more military focused). But it depends on your taste. Some people might find it incredibly boring.

Oh and it's visually stunning.

Nothing quite beats rushing into a system with an entire fleet and just demolishing everything that stands in your way.

TIM approves +30.

So it's kind of like Civilisation?

I don't mind slow-paced but I don't want to spend hours not doing anything. I'm might buy it to see, it is really cheap at Gamestop.

There is quite much to do at any given time. And at the highest difficulty you get harried constantly by large groups of pirates and enemy factions. Then there is the political aspect, where you play cat and mouse with others.

So it's kind of like Civilisation?

In a way, yes.

No, I think civilisation is more culture / economy focused and battles are not done in RL. I think.

In Sins, it's massive epic battles with hundreds of ships in one screen and the engines handles it beautifully.
And its economy and diplomacy aspect are really just there to bolster your military and not there on their own.

Being able to zoom up close on tiniest of fighters, and then zoom out to the point you see the various star systems, all in real time, is simply put the greatest aspect of that game.

It's not like homeworld in terms of space battles, but it's still epic.

P.S. Knight ever heard of Nexus: The Jupiter Incident? Space Battle game, focusing more on tactics then others do.

Total War has a turn based campaign. Sins has a real time one, where EVERYTHING happens in real time.

You might have a massive scale battle on one corner of your empire, while in the other your just putting the basis of a colony. In another part a pirate raid might just be about to drop on your undefended colony.

Total War is turned based when not in battle. Sins is all Real time.

You can have several battles at once, in different star systems.
