That should be interesting. Hopefully I'll be able to read through the rest of Orzammar without it overwhelming my mild angst allergy. Posted Image

well to be fair I need to explain her tattoos and the reason she doesn't drink, as I never have. Also I'm setting up for ro stick to fingers up at her old life, what with the crab bucket thing.

Well, the DC is one of the angstiest origins. Unlike some of the others which don't have to be prior to the events of the origins (DN, HN, DE, and possibly even mage) being the DC or the CE just sucks from the beginning.

Is her ol' mam a reason?

it sucks but you have the chance to better yourself. There's still years of abuse of YOU'RE NOTHING BUT DUST LOLOLOL to deal with, even if you're the goddamn hero. Race/poverty/gender issues don't magically disappear overnight, even if you're offered a hand up and not a boot down.

Besides! Return to Orzammar should break you at east in part, regardless of Origin. You'd have to be made of metal (or stone, hurrr durr) not to let it affect you, considering what happened if you're a Brosca or an Aeducan.

,,,,and then there's the Deep Roads! GLORIOUS.

True, there does have to be some angst. Fortunately, there are also plenty of walking dead people to inform of their fate in order to help deal with that. Maybe not the BEST coping mechanism but it does involve multi-tasking.

Yep. And Missa only escaped to angst quietly and rough up some dusters away from the others, stupid dog and Zevran followed. It's srsbznz now, even if she does tell Leliana to **** off. She is, after all, allegedly commanding under the Grey Warden banner.

That sounded just like Cailan....

In a part yes, it should affect you. Not break you however.

Well, dwarves are just as concerned with honor as Cailan is. The only difference is that they're a little more practical when it comes to facing down darkspawn. And it might break you depending on how bad your background was. Missa's background...pretty damn bad.

Just the way I write it though, some Broscas can be perky ladies and gents who can be cheerful sorts, despite background. "Never mind Rica! You don't wh*re,you fall in love. And that's Mammy's special juice that makes her happy! And Leske is so funny, isn't he funny?"

OH god I feel bad now

Leske's not funny. He's just sort of a low-key annoying. Gotta hand it to the Aeducans, Gorim is a thousand times better in every single way than Leske.

I think you can like Leske without failing as a DC (he's one of the few people to be civil to you, after all, and beggars can't be choosers) but those other things...thugs face the threat of head traumat every day, you know? Posted Image

Oh definitely. I Posted Image Gorim. I don't see Leske  offering to have people killed just for annoying you or standing up to the heir to the throne on your behalf. He's just all 'oh, we can't steal from Beraht!' and 'I would watch Everd to make sure he doesn't wake up but I want to see a Proving!'

Darkspawn Chronicles. I had an Ogre finish him off with a Grab. Man, I felt bad about doing it, but dammit, Ogre Grabs just look cool and I didn't want the poor sap to be ganked by some random Genlock.

Yeah, **** sensibility, lets steal from our boss that could have us and our families killed and recruit 8 people just like us in under half an hour. And what a bad gentleman, not killing people for annoying you. He has had an equally crappy upbringing as your DC, and he still manages to keep an positive outlook in most things.

He fails at watching Everd and then joining Jarvia. But that is the sum of his failures. Just because he doesn't try to jump your DC's bones *goes off into rambling incoherently*

Meh *walks off in annoyance*

I would probably not have been interested if he had, especially since he's clearly into Rica and kind of chicken****. Honestly, I only took ONE of the lyrium nuggets and Beraht got to keep the other one. Besides, he barely pressed the issue.

Edit: And Leske is a thug. He kills people. It's hs job. Yet he can't be bothered to kill anything for you? Fail.

I agree with this, despite Leske bias.

LESKE HAS NO CHOICE. As a Brosca, you do. Which is why Missa is as guilty as hell about her old salroka... What is there for Leske, what choice does he have? Go the surface? Would he even make it out alive...

(I still think he's a douche for hitting on Rica.)

Is it strange that I wouldn't care about killing Leliana, Morrigan, Wynne, Zevran, Alistair, or Oghren but I don't want to have to do that?

Hey, my dislike of Leske has nothing to do with him not wanting to jump my DC's bones, as I play straight male characters. It's more to do with his being weak and inept.

Leske's directly responsible for getting the DC caught, by first proposing the deal then failing utterly at keeping an eye on Everd.

He sets up an ambush on you when you return, which fails spectacularly and pathetically, revealing his sympathies to Jarvia far too soon.

I don't actually fault him for joining Jarvia. That's just plain survival, and you do what you gotta do in Dust Town. But after I have slaughtered my way through the entire carta and challenged Jarvia in her hideout (the same hideout I personally butchered Beraht in, I might add), he's still dumb enough to try to attack me.

It's actually kind of sad that Leske is better off without you. I mean, as a non-DC he gets locked up for a year but then he's free to go. As a DC he's Jarvia's boytoy for a year and then gets violently killed. Sure his year may have been marginally better if you're a DC but in the long-run...you being a Warden doesn't end well for him.
