You could always choose Harrowmont. I think that he meant it as a double entendre.

Yeah, you could if you hate your sister and every other dwarf you've ever known. And he better not have meant it like that...although there would be less of a chance of him deciding to have you killed...

Edit: Oh, you mean that kind of double entendre. Well, you're not a Paragon yet and if he thinks he needs to threaten you mere minutes after handing him the throne and he's giving you troops...well, he always was the paranoid one, huh? And it's not like the DC knows what he did with Trian and the DN (who I firmly believe winds up with the Legion) and, for Rica's sake, they may choose not to believe it so it wouldn't be a very effective insinuation.

Hey, when you're playing a male DN and have the opportunity to name your son, does anyone comment on what you choose as the name? The only options are Trian, Gorim, Duncan, Endrin, or yourself, right? Although it would be kind of...confusing for you and Bhelen to both have sons around the same age named Endrin.

"I hereby proclaim that Endrin Aeducan will be my heir to the throne."

"Umm . . . which one my lord?"

*closes his eyes and points at random*

"That one."

Just started me a new Dwarf Noble. Gona enjoy talking smack to the Humans and generally acting like an arse.

I had the same reaction when Alistair said it was strange to bury the dead. "STFU, kthnxbai." I almost didn't romance him because of that, but what kind of Ali-fangirl would I be if I didn't lol.:P

Oooo I just had my DN go with that Mardy person.... Gorim said I had a companion in my room....heh.... he'll probably name his kid Duncan.....or Gorim... both would have meant a lot to him....

Heeeey... a DN having a kid pre-joining is pretty important! Woow... think of all the political fallout.... both Behlen's kid and the DN's could be the next king....

Now, my FDC will probably totally fall for Zev, and drag Al kicking and screaming to Ferelden's throne :)

I also think the DN ends up in the Legion. Furthermore I think the DN is one of the  many Legionaires in Denerim, and dies there.

No one comments. Your Baby momma doesnt even have special dialouge for it.

DN: Dunacn would be a nice name
Mardy: (wistfully) Duncan.. thats a beautiful anme

DN: Name him Endrin, after my father

Mardy: Endrin.. thats a beautiful name

Only when you ask him to be a junoir, or tell her name it whatever she likes does she say something unique.

DN: Name him after me
Mardy: The no one ever forget you

DN: Name him whatever you like
Mardy: Thank you, my lord. I always thought he looked like your father. I'm going to call him young Endrin.

Gorim never asks, and you never have the opportunity to mention your son to him, if you are wondering.

You can only name him after the king is crowned, so, Bhelen or Harrowment never have oppertunity to say his name either since they shut down into "Shoo, I have kingly business"-mode at that exact point.

Really? Awwww man. Well at least Mardy gives some lines...

Is that all there is to it? Cuz RP wise, I was aiming for my DN/Leliana... but he would want to pursue a relationship with Mardy, especially if he found out she's got a kid....

To be honest, she probably wouldn't want to pursue you. I think Leliana would be overjoyed to be a step-mama, especially since you probably can't have your own children with her.

I'm probably going to make a noble that romances Leliana, so that's what I'm gonna do.

I kinda wish you having a child before you become a Grey Warden was a bigger thing (maybe even have a bastard child as other races), but I bet they have specific plans for that stuff and women would be kind of left out.

One of the options allows you to remember Mardys name, there is another one in the vein of "wha... did you say 'son"??!!" ; another that tells her to go away, and.. I forget the others

But, definitely, there is nothing you can say that ever conveys romantic affection for her; No wedlock; no marriage, or conflicting interests in regards to your LI. If you walk away, you are rejecting your son; its never about Mardy, its always about the boy.

I am not 100% sure, but your LI doesnt comment on it, or has an interjection in your convos with mardy. I'm not sure, though, since I never thought to try that.
I did see if Alistair had something to say, and no, I don't recall him reacting. would've been interesting.
.

Mardy says:
"I'll take him to the palace.
I can't wait for a proper bath, and for a nurse to watch over him for me" and that made me recoil a little bit, but I don't think shes shirking her responsibility to the baby.
I don't get the same level of afffection Rica feels for her son, though.

Well, once you get back to Orzammar (although that may not be on the cards if you're romacing Leliana) she could be your concubine but you couldn't really date her since she's casteless, even if she is technically part of a noble household.

Yeah, I think that she's isn't shirking responsibility as much as she's glad that he plan has been carried out. I mean, I doubt she wanted to get pregnant to actually have the baby. I bet concubines basically ignoring their children and leaving them to the nurses is not unheard of. But it's not like they can just have the baby and do whatever they want, y'know?

*Sigh*

Just got done with the Dwarf Noble origin (I play slow).

Dammit Gorim! How am I suppose to talk to people without you there to do it for me? Oh how difficult it is to be a magnificent bastard.

I guess this means I'll have to actually . . . *gulp* converse with the little people now. (THE HORROR!)

That's what I love about deliverng the notices of death to the widows for the Blackstone Irregulars: You can totally make other people tell them because you can't be bothere. That's definitely a major failing of Alistairs; you'll graciously agree to be in charge becaue he's having a nervous breakdown but he won't even serve as a buffer between you and the rest of the world. CAUTHRIEN did that when she didn't recognize you and you tried to talk to Loghain at Arl Eamon's estate so why can't Alistair?

I guess I could use Oghren as a semi-replacement. Better then nothing.
(They have the same voice actor, never would have guessed that if not for the credits)

also

Gorim = one of the best sidekicks ever.

I think that is because he is a candidate for kingship, so why would he be a buffer for you? At that point, I picture my characters as being his second, even if they are technically the leader. It's kind of weird, because my PCs are the ones making decisions, but he is the one is the candidate for king. It's kind of confusing.

He's not a candidate for King for most of the game and I think you still come across as more important. If he's going to be the King (not crowned) then he still follows you into battle - unless you spare Loghain in which case no one notices that he's gone - and if he feeds himself to the Archdemon only Wynne seems to notice but she doesn't care. If you die...instead of a party they have an epic funeral that everyone attends and there's good chance your love interest will go all emo forever.

Besides, ALISTAIR'S second? Really? He's just...so not leadership material. That would be like if Gorim told you where to go, what to do, and regularly ignored your input in the Origin. It would just be weird.

I don't really mean for any of the game except for during the Loghain/Howe/Cauthrian encounter. After that encounter, you are the most important person ever and if they could, they would just crown you and get it over with. Also, they way I see it may just be for the characters I play. Usually my characters want to put him on the throne (being usually Queen-Couslands and Mistress-mages) so they want it to seem like Alistair is too important to talk to Loghain. But....that's just the way I play the situation. So that's how I see it.

I tend to see it as Alistair still doesn't want to be King, has no idea what to say, and is trying to restrain himself from brutally murdering Loghain on the spot. Posted Image

Ha! I imagine he feels that way, but how is he supposed to be intimadating if he actually talks? So my character pretty much tells him to shut up and she'll do the talking lol

Hopefully in private or that would totally ruin the impression. Kind of like how ten minutes after Loghain calls you Alistair's puppeteer you can tell him what to tell the Landsmeet in his 'so I'm King now' speech.

Yeah, totally in private, lol. I also caught that and it seemed like Loghain and my characters were the only ones who actually had any say in the situation. I really liked that, to be honest. And it's the reason my character fights Loghain, because they don't want Alistair to be known as the murderer of the Hero of River Dane.

edit: Also, they want to be known as the people who had slain the guy who started a civil war during a Blight. Yeah, my characters are always that manipulative. Makes gaming a lot more interesting (and can sometimes justify meta-gaming lol)

But it was weird playing a dude who planned on sparing Loghain, marrying Anora and driving Alistair off. That entire scene played out differently for me, where my Male!Cousland was talking to keep Alistair from saying anything that would make him seem like a good candidate (he wasn't even there for the Loghain/Howe encounter).

I've finished 1 dwarf commoner run (both origins and awakening) and 1 dwarf noble (both origins and awakening).

Didn't do any romances on either of them. Until they introduce a romanceable dwarf character it will feel really weird and creepy.

Just stay single, it feels better that way.

@Radahldo -- I checked Mardy's tree out of curiousity and I can confirm that none of your companions will have a comment on the fact that you have a son. That's kind of stupid since love interests will react to the city elf's wedding in origins.

VO notes for Mardy say that she's angry, pointed, not at all flirtatious when you two run into each other again. Of course, she's overjoyed once you find a house for your son, blah blah.

I did find that you can donate ... a thousand gold if you have that much when you see her. Whoooaaah.

PC: "I'll try. In the meantime, here's some money to live on."
Mardy: "Thank you... I haven't had a solid meal in a week."

*Give 1 sovereign*
"Oh. One sovereign. Great. Very generous. It was nice knowing you." (VO: Flat, unhappy)

*Give 10 sovereigns*
"Thank you. It's good to see you haven't completely forgotten us." (VO: Neutral)

*Give 50 sovereigns*
"That's truly generous. I should be able to rent a room for that sort of coin." (VO: Happy)

*Give 1000 sovereigns*
"My lord! Your generosity shames me. I know now you never forgot us. And I have faith you will do all you can to ensure your son grows up an Aeducan." (VO: Extremely happy, flattering)
