Do any of your DN's fight in the proving?? I do and get the helm... but what's the point? You can't wear it right away and don't you lose it regardless??

I always fight in the Proving. It makes you look awesome, you get to meet Adal Helmi, and it's a good way to get experience at the beginning. Not to mention you have to fend off those pesky not-Gorim suitors somehow, right? Can you sell the helm? If you then you can just do what I do and send it to Ivo since it makes you look magnanimous and hopefully makes him feel like a douche for what he does later.

But why would they just reenact their history for all eternity? Trying to impress the visitors? And that warrior guy appeared at least twice.

Edit: Plus, don't darkspawn appear too? They have no souls.

If they're "an echo in the Stone" then it makes some vague sense for them to act this way. After all that's very much what an echo does -- repeats.

Ooooo I haven't thought about selling the helm....yeah... how come if you're royal you're broke at the start of the game? You have like.. no money......O.o

I was nice to that Ivo until the bastard was one of the betrayers....

Either Ivo or that archer dwarf gets the knife.... you're exiled anyways so take one of those ****** down with you I say

You can't kill Ivo since he's a noble and you have no reason to before the betrayal (but I'm totally hunting him down post-game). You might be royal but that doesn't mean you need to carry around a lot of money with you. You're just browsing the merchant wares on your wy to the Proving before the feast in your honor. It's not like it's a day that you'd need to do any heavy-duty shopping, after all.

You're broke at the start of the game because you don't actually need money. As not only a Noble, but also the favored child of the King, you've been surrounded your whole life by people whose entire job is to provide for your every need and desire. If you want a sword, it is provided by the royal smiths. If you want some surface silk, you don't lower yourself to buying it from a merchant. You either send a servant to do so, or you recieve it as a gift from those currying your favor.

that's true... I just like having lots of gold on me... unlike in Mass Effect when Shepard has almost an unspendable credit account.....yeesh.

Has anyone gotten that dagger from the merchant yet? Great starting weapon...with the magical enchantment on it...

I just really wish Trian's reaction to it triggered properly. I mean, they even set him up to react by having the merchant mention Trian threw the messenger out and Trian wrote about it in his journal. I usually end up trying to turn it down because it's just a dagger and I don't need to make my life harder by pissing Trian off over something so stupid when he's already up in arms about the commander thing but I get persuaded to at least look at it and it's just so pretty...Posted Image

Does it not trigger right? I've never actually had it equipped, even when I accepted it, when meeting Trian.

Vidar had absolutely no patience for the merchant's stammering and left in disgust.

Well, I finally finished my Dain Aeducan playthrough. I must say I am quite pleased and the game never fails to get me misty eyed at the end (sensitive me). I like how Bhelen restored Dain to House Aeducan, without him asking that. And how the Assembly unanimously agreed to make him a Paragon, which is effectively breaking a record (there was one absentee in the original Aeducan's paragonship). I like to think that Paragon Chancellor Dain goes to Orzammar for the celebration a few months after Origins (and before Awakening).

The thing however is that Dain now has his own House, while he is being a Chancellor in Ferelden and apparently that House attracts lots of followers. I am not sure what Dain would do with it. Either he brings them all the surface, to consolidate his rule, or more likely keep them in Orzammar to make sure he has influence in the city, and also to help Bhelen (and pressure if needed). Dain and Bhelen are now real allies, and Bhelen will return the favor in Awakening, when he sends Dworkin and his bro. House Aeducan now rules both Orzammar and Ferelden. I love the ending.

And while it was not an option sadly, I like to think Paragon Chancellor Aeducan named his son Trian, after he realised what he had truly done after meeting Trian's "ghost".

No, it does not.

whether that is because of a bug or they cut it out of the game I can't say.

No, it doesn't trigger unfortunately.

What do you mean it's not an option? Don't you get to choose between Trian, Endrin, Gorim, Duncan, DN Jr, or letting Mardy name the kid (she picks Endrin)? Of course, this is when you tell her he's a noble now. Did you just no talk to her again after Bhelen let her into the House?

Hmn. Might post it to Qwinn. If it's a bug, he may be able to fix it in the next release of his Fixpack. If it was cut, it may not be restorable, depending on voicing and scripting.

I did, but Trian was not on the list. Maybe he only shows up as an option if you don't kill him. Which is stupid. I think it would have been great for Dain to name his son Trian, out of regret for what he did.

I find it sad that moders are fixing the various bugs the game has and yet the console version of the game will likely never see such a fix.

Meh.

Meh.

That's why I had to go buy a PC version, too. That and Gilsa kept posting reasons for me to do so...

I admit that I would buy a PC version as well . . . though a lack of money and a usable computer are two major problems.

Qwinn's Fixpack is hands-down the best mod I've found. It's a pure bug-fix mod with some restored content (I got it purely for the restored dwarf dialogue with the Ash Warrior Leader in Ostagar), and his latest release is tweaked to prevent mod compatibility issues by making other mods take higher priority and override his if they change the same thing.

It is summer so I have access to my nice home computer and my parents wanted to get me a 'you've just finished your first year at college' present. Posted Image

ha....finished another semester yesterday and now its get your job back time.... great...but I do need money...

Sooo what do your DN's/DC's do Post-Archedemon?

I'm sorely tempting to travel....or stay at court....

despite paragonship my DN is wary of returning to Orzzamar

My DN stayed in Denerim just long enough to finish up surface business and then went running back home but then, that was her goal since she'd been exiled so it wasn't exactly a hard decision. Some people decide to make their exile self-imposed when they do something so amazing that the people tha rejected them wantthem back and others feel that it is about damn time.

My DC didn't really feel like travelling (hadn't she done enough of that already? She was supposed to do it for FUN now?) but she was willing to stay at cout and visit Orzammar on occassion, mostly for Rica's sake.

Ok what's the lure of returning to Orzzamar. A non-dwarf can't really fit in there- plus I'd go mental undergrond....all the time...

For either a DC/DN nothing but death, betrayal, poverty in the DC's case.... either king brings a new set of problems....

soooo... why so anxious to return home?
