Why would the mother change? Presumably given that noble hunters are relatively new and Endrin is a traditionalist the Queen was the mother of the three kids and she was likely either blonde or redheaded herself or else it's unlikely that Trian and Bhelen would be blonde.

Not to mention that Lady Helmi talks about her being ashamed that you got fooled by Lord Dace or else says she'd be proud of your commission so they were probably friends or close acquaintances.

Noble hunters are new? I figured that since the caste system has existed for basically forever and is extremely rigid, then so has the loophole, and as long as the loophole has existed, there have been desperate dwarves trying to take advantage of it.

In the days of yore (before darkspawn) there would be no need for it. It isn't there for the casteless, it's there because they need more nobles.

I don't remember if they explicitly state it in one of the dwarf origins (though I thought they did) but there doesn't appear to be anything strange about Gorim having to explain to you what they are and the nobles just sound so offended by their presence which, if noble hunters are part of tradition, they wouldn't be. Still, noble populations get lower all the time and eventually someone hit upon that solution.
