PC: "A royal concubine? To who?"
Rica: "Prince Bhelen! Can you believe it? Now you see why I didn't tell you. It just seems so amazing."
Rica: "My son is an Aeducan. The future king of Orzammar spends his nights in my bed."
Rica: "Beraht was a toad, but I have to thank him for teaching me to read, dance, massage, and whatever else Bhelen sees in me."
PC: "Then, are you going to be queen?"
Rica: "Of course not. His wife will be queen. But my son is a prince. Your nephew could sit on the throne of Orzammar."
So Anora's response to Rica in the Ultimate Sacrifice ending about Rica being married to Bhelen is either a plot-hole, sloppy writing, or just Anora being dumb.

It's a shame you can't meet your son, that would have been pretty awesome. But I can't blame Bioware for not wanting to make an entirely knew model just for, like, 3 people who have babies in the game.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the Bhelen crier talk about Bhelen marrying a castless? Or was that the Harrowmont one saying that to get people to sway to Harrowmont? But I could have sworn there was some ambient dialogue that said that Bhelen had a child by a casteless woman and was going to marry her.

I think it's Harrowmount's crier. Of course that doesn't mean it's true. After all, the same guy asserts that Grey Wardens are demon worshippers. Which is only true if the PC is a blood mage, maybe.

Yeah, I don't think I've ever gotten that much money in a game (high 600s, yes. 1000?)It's retarded that it jumps from 50 to 1000. I'd happily give 100 gold because I usually end up with a lot of money, but 1000 is just ridiculous. I'd probably cheat to get that much money because I'm weird about things like that.
That was before Rica became a noble and thus not really a scandal aside from the fact that she used to be casteless. Of course, it would help if we had any idea what Bhelen felt about her.So Anora's response to Rica in the Ultimate Sacrifice ending about Rica being married to Bhelen is either a plot-hole, sloppy writing, or just Anora being dumb.

Conversation between Bhelen and DC upon first meeting:
Bhelen: "Welcome to your new house, little brother. My Rica tells me you worked yourself all the way up from Dust Town to the Grey Wardens."
Bhelen: "Vartag says you've been a great help in my campaign to regain the throne."
DC: "Does that put my nephew in line for the throne?"
Bhelen: "I haven't exactly picked an heir yet. But he is my son and a son of House Aeducan. He has the same rights as any sons of my wife's body."
Bhelen: "Assuming he grows up as strong and as wise as his uncle."

Now that's kind of laying it on thick. Or maybe he's reminiscing about his poor, murdered brother? New Theory: Bheln really does love Rica and is already plotting to make the DC a Paragon for ending the Blight so he can marry her.Bhelen: "I haven't exactly picked an heir yet. Well, I think he loves Rica to some degree, but the latter seems very farfetched. A paragon is rare, so counting on the DC becoming that seems to flimsy for our machiavellian dwarf.

I'm not saying he makes wedding plans then, but I don't think it's unreasonable for him to assume that should the DC (one of only two Grey Wardens in Ferelden and clearly the one in charge) manage to save everyone by ending the Blight he won't be able to take advantage of that to make them a Paragon? I mean, they've made people Paragons for excellent rhyming ability and being really good servants, after all.Well, I think he loves Rica to some degree, but the latter seems very farfetched. A paragon is rare, so counting on the DC becoming that seems to flimsy for our machiavellian dwarf.
If he becomes bored of her it will hurt her but she'll be fine as she'll still be a part of the house to look after her son and when he's an adult and she's no longer needed then he won't let her just be castout. What will happen to Rica when Bhelen is bored of her?

I don't see Bhelen getting off at killing someone, he does it because he sees it as efficient (as opposed to Howe).

I think he is just speaking of the PC.

Edit: But you are right, he is laying it on thick. The VO says "mock flattery." Funny you used that term because once you crown Bhelen as a Brosca, he says, "Now I can embrace you as a brother." The VO notes say, "Sounds warm and welcoming, but you can tell he's not that sincere. Laying it on a little thick."

So does that mean that Behlen's wife didn't give him a son fast enoguh over Rica?
Or perhaps Rica may become his second wife? Does dwarven culture allow that? Most kings in the past had 3+ wives and things like that....
Also.... would that make the PC from a Brosca to an Aeducan due to Rica's new status?

It doesn't matter who the mother is because the status of the sons come directly from the father. So any of his sons are eligible for the throne. Bhelen only has to pick who his favorite is. I haven't seen anything that indicates that dwarves support polygamy so looks like it's just the one wife so far.
Well, it's polygamy with one "head" wife. The eldest son is the one who is usually considered the heir, but considering Bhelen's way of acting towards his elders, I don't see it as that important to him though.

I'm pretty sure Bhelen's not married. He's very young (considered a child when Branka disappeared) and wouldn't have gotten as good of prosects as, say, Trian might have prior to actually becoming Queen. Besides, if he had a wife then those two gossiping girls in the Diamond Quarter wouldn't have been looking to become his Queen. So does that mean that Behlen's wife didn't give him a son fast enoguh over Rica?

Totally inspired and thanks for posting that or I probably never would have gotten around to do it...Happy to dig through toolkit. I love talking about dwarves. Plus I can see that this helps to inspire ideas for those who like to write fanfic!

Nope. I'm not sure why because dwarf noble is my favourite origin but I always run out of enthusiasm for my dwarf characters by Lothering, I guess it's because I have a hard time justifying a do-gooder dwarf, which is how I always seem to play, I can't seem to help it.
had this problem at first with my femDN then i restarted and RPed her as a bit of a **** at first who after shewas betrayed leans during the blight quest what it was to be a leader and a ruler
I still wold have liked the option of punching out Bhalen but knowing he was going to have me as a Paragon (thus in some ways being more powerful then even a king) gave me a warm feeling. I romanced Liliana but only becasue I really dont see the point of romancing Alister only to lose him to that 8itch Anora.

--Are there male noble hunters?
--How do dwarves mark the passage of time/routine? Do they use the surfacer method of sun/moon? Is Orzammar really the city that never sleeps?
--Dwarven language- is it dead, like the Elven? Because I don't get why there's only a few words spoken. The shaperate surely has records better then the Dalish about the language of the dwarva, surely...

Orzammar never sleeps.
The language probably disappeared from common usage with their kingdom, the dwarves became more dependent on humans and thus used more human lingo. And it has been a while since the first blight.

I know Orzammar never sleeppppps, but I was wondering if there's a routine people work around, how time is measured. IDK, I can see dwarves being very good at industrial things like clocks/etc way before humanity even thinks about it, so perhaps that route.
I'm going to stick my neck out and say there is still a dwarve language, but wasn't used in game due to the mechanics of inventing a language/voice overs. *handwave* wizard did it.
