So Samara actually says she wants to kill Renegade!Shepard? Why would he ever release her from her oath then?

She would be forced to do it by her code. Nothing personal.

That said. Mordin's dialogue confirms how he views the situation. You just destroyed one of the best means to advance humanity, GG!

Indeed, he isn't an idiot. He thinks humanity will be just like the Krogans if they advance, so he would rather avoid that. And I would rather avoid having humanity suffer a genophage, by making sure no other alien faction can stand against it.  Just Realpolitik, nothing personal, I like the aliens and I really like Mordin.

Samara, take down Shepard? "falls down laughing." "looks up and laughs some more."

After destroying three reapers, committing genocide upon the collectors, fighting Saren, killing Vido and hundreds from the toughest mercs in the galaxy, fighting a Tresher Maw on FOOT. What bloody chance does a single puny asari have against Terminator-Shepard?

These people just don't know who they are ****ing around with.

I like the aliens and I really like Mordin.

Me too, unlike that **** Ashley.

Argh, sorry, I was going to post both the "keep the base" and "don't keep the base" dialogue and couldn't find the "keep the base" screenshots. I forgot to change the header, sowwy! Editting my post now.

What does 'siha' mean, anyway? Beloved? He only called me that once. If Cerberus really is after you in ME3 then the only way to make that a reasonable use of resources would be to have the Alliance or somebody else after you if you don't destroy it.

It's a guardian angel for a goddess in his religion. That is what he calls you if you romance him (which I totally did).

I can't be pissed at Gorim if I'm going to do the same thing to Kaidan and he only has a year left, anyway. Why does he call you that before you romance him? Because he's happy you saved Kolyat?

It doesn't necessarily have romantic meaning, the guardian angel is supposed to be "fierce and protective" which is what Shepard is if she helps others.

Especially since Samara's code would probably demand that she NOT ambush you or kill you in your sleep which are the only ways I could see that happening.

Think of it this way: if you save the Council and sacrifice Ashley then she gets a bunch of Turian medals and won't that ****** her off given her rampant xenophobia?

Not to mention that with the exception of Zaeed, all human characters are non-badass boring. My favorite companions are Wrex and Garrus. And I really like the Turians, despite everything (I admit, I have some disliking towards the Asari, but seeing Illium changed it a bit. Just a tiny bit).

Me liking aliens and me seeking to make humanity the hegemonic power is not mutually exclusive, unlike what many seem to believe.

It is far more likely that Shepard would accidently kill someone in their sleep. I would hate to sleep beside Shepard lol

Isn't that what Cerberus is all about? Making humanity powerful at all cost? It would be stupid for them to be racist, given the fact that people like Mordin are very helpful, given their experience.

I don't think I can stress out even a fraction of how much I hate Ashley, after her little meeting in ME2...so let me just tell you what I did.

Finished current playthrough, deleted it. Installed Mass Effect 1 again, replayed the ENTIRE game ( which compared to ME 2 is utter bull**** btw ) just so I could kill her off on Virmire, and have Kaiden in ME2.

I was THAT bloody pissed at the ****.

Kaidan I can understand, since he doesn't believe the ends justify the means, and makes it clear he believes humanity should take it slow, instead of putting itself on top of others. For him to stick to his belief, now that I respect greatly.

all human characters are non-badass boring.

Kasumi is cool, as a companion.

How does the Ashley reunion play through? I can't stand male Shepard's voice so I haven't managed to see it. The Kaidan one could have been worse, I guess. And now I'm curious as to what Ashley's 'sorry for calling you a traitor' email is like...

Honestly, it's no difference, except Ashley pretty much says that she agrees with Cerberus's anti-alien message (which they don't have) but says she's an Alliance soldier above all else. Basically, neither of them listen to you and are not interested in giving you a chance.

One can argue that with the collector base and Reaper tech, humanity wouldnt' need anyone, though I believe it to be an exageration. Alleviate its dependency perhaps and that's a positive outcome in my books.

Byt yes, Cerberus is not racist and it's not in its benefit to be so. Cerberus has shown itself willing to learn from aliens and cooperate if need be.

The kind of future I have in mind for humanity is that of a benevolent hegemony. The same kind of hegemony the USA excercised after WW2, which I do believe was mostly benevolent (though not altruistic obviously). Humanity will need allies, especially allies that might counter balance the Turian / Asari / Salarian trio.

I didn't get an email from Ashley (pretty sure I didn't) so I'm guessing the emails might be only for those in romances. Unless someone has a platonic email from Kaidan -- I'd be interested in seeing that version, too!

Do you want me to type up Ashley/FemShep on Horizon?

Is that any different than maleShep on Horizen, besides the romance parts? I haven't seen any of it and if she really approves of Cerberus after what we saw in ME1...well, I can't blame Kaidan for storming off pissed and he soon tries to make up for it. That would probably be the only way I'd ever get to see it.

It plays off almost exactly like Kaidan's ....except that Ashley is far different then Kaidan is in her beliefs.

In the first game, she goes all about how humanity should be put first, and not the aliens. She is VERY vocal about that. ( She is the most vocal member about killing the Rachni Queen and the Council )

Then in the second game.....she refuses to join you because Cerberus is extremist in dealing with aliens?! Just what is that ****?! Instead she returns to the alliance, who is still run by idiots who prefer bending knee over to the aliens.

Anyone, here is the youtube link  .

Saving the Reaper base may not benefit humanity directly, but it has the potential to save the galaxy. And who salvaged it? A human organization. Who would use it to destroy the Reapers? A human organization. The humans would have shown how they handled that situation and would be given more power in the galaxy.

I haven't played a maleShep, but considering how similar the dialogue is with Kaidan and Ashley, the only real difference is their choice of words. You still get a hug, they're still mad you didn't contact them, they have plausible reasons for not trusting Cerebus, they both think you turned your back on everything they stood for, they both know where their loyalties lie -- they're alliance soldiers, gd it! =p So long and good luck, blah blah blah. ;)

Ashley is a Systems Alliance soldier. Cerberus is a rogue "terrorist" organisation, that deserted the Alliance (at least officially, if that was a sham which I doubt was the case, then Ashley has no way of knowing it).
So it's completely in-character for Ashley to be repulsed by Cerberus and it's for the simple reason that Cerberus is officially against the Alliance (unofficially, Cerberus has a lot of influence on it), which she is 100% loyal to, being a soldier.

@ Kryyptekh. Yea it's pretty clear regardless of decisions that humanity is doing most of the work. It was the Systems Alliance fleet that destroyed Sovereign. And it was Cerberus that contributed greatly in stopping the Collectors and Harbinger's plan.

But despite this, I do not expect all aliens to like humanity. They lose their power, humanity gains more. Relative power is key in international (inter-galactic) politics. No nation likes to be surpassed, especially not those who were in a position of power before.

I actually liked Kaidan more after he told off my Shepard. He was sticking to his values. I saw the parallels with Alistair sticking to his values at Landsmeet and leaving despite his heartbreak. Landsmeet and Horizon are completely different situations, I know, I know, but just saying that the love interests in both stories put their foot down instead of blindly following the PC like a puppy.
