Yeah, I spare him because even though gameplay proves otherwise, at Landsmeet, I'm keenly aware that it's just me and Alistair and logic dictates that we need all the help we can get. You would think that in addition to recruiting a general of renown, you'd also get his loyal soldiers to join along with the three treaties. In my first game, I thought Anora would turn on me if I didn't spare Loghain and I felt that the soldiers he commanded would not be willing to follow me since I killed their general. I'd have fewer troops helping out in the Blight. The game obviously doesn't play out this way, but it's what I think about every time I go to Landsmeet. I think Loghain dying as a Grey Warden provides closure for those he left behind in Ostagar, that he met the same fate and finished the job they began.

David Gaider said that it was intentional in the writing that Alistair's hatred of Loghain corrupted him the same way Loghain's hatred of Orlais corrupted him. So it is my hope (probably a futile one) that Alistair gets a chance at redemption for walking out at Landsmeet the same way Loghain got his redemption at Landsmeet. I'd like to find drunk Alistair again and recruit him back. Why not? None of our companions were saints -- I don't think Alistair should be held to a higher standard.

Bhelen....... would be proud. I know I am for being in a thread with people who mostly spare Loghain. Dwarves are awesome like that, eh?

You know what really puts things into perspective? Trian says he's proud of you when you tell the Guardian that he got what he deserved. Dwarven nobility...they just don't think like normal people...

Yes that was a touching moment. It was then Dain decided to name his son Trian.

And I think Bhelen would be proud of you if you become Queen yes.

My fanfiction, remember that?

Gilsa: I spared him for somewhat similar reasons. But I also saw in him a man whom I respected for being a realistic about the whole situation, not an idealist like Cailan. ( And I really liked what I heard about him from Anora. )

Admittedly when I first heard of Dragon Age. I read about it on the wikipedia, and the basic plotline about given the option of sparring him. And that really peaked my interest, making the villain on your side was .....unexpected in a video game. Though of course I was neutral about it until I saw how it unfolded.

Character creator, print screen.
He looks exactly like the Dain I made on the Xbox.

Mine looks completely different as the character creator one serving as my avatar looks like Bhelen and my canon one looks like Trian.

And of course just imagine how your companions (especially Alistair) would react to that. "Wait...are you saying that you killed your brother? And it was your other brother's fault? And...and he's proud of you for it? And to think I asked you for advice about Goldanna..." His head would probably explode. Posted Image

Oh, Gilsa, you're back. So I was thinking about the commission and I figured on two. One of the Aeducan family (Endrin, Bhelen, Trian, and Aunn) and one of her and Gorim but I don't quite know anything more specific. What do you think?

I just woke the kid up, crap. Responding really fast -- Aeducan family would ROCK. Family portrait would PWN. You could just tell her "you and Gorim, anything goes." I do remember you talking about wanting to get the Aeducan shield from Gorim before you settle the matter of the Orzammar throne so you can always ask for the focus on him giving you the shield if you want. SHe is very easy to work with and she plays dwarves so she may have ideas of her own. Kid is demanding I go to bed with him. SEe you int he morning.

Edit: Huh, he crawled in bed with his dad and went to sleep on my side of the bed. I guess I have more time then.

Since we're talking about Aeducan RP, have mine!

My Aeducan's RP story:

  • Wanted to be a Commander and not a politician. Wanted to explore lost thaigs and reclaim glory in expeditions, not deal with deshyrs at court. Not much of a fighter, more built on speed and grace then brute force. Likes the thrill of the chase and used to steal for the fun of it out of boredom, but would always give the things back ...sometimes. Found her caste so very dull, prefered her friends from the lower castes... If she could call them that, anyway. Liked to hang out at the dwarven equivilent of The Factory... If she coudl escape her Father's reach first, however.
  • Had a fling with Gorim, did not romance him! They were friends and not lovers, and she respected him hugely. Almost had an affair with a member from the Artisan Caste when she was 16 and stupid, but was covered up when it appeared to be a ploy to bring disrespect and dishonour to her family. Said Artisan found himself at the bottom of the lava thanks to Gorim... The event, however, taught her to watch herself, but she still trusted her family implicitly despite it all.
  • Killed Trian, trusted Bhelen. Took her father's shame and regret to heart but took the Grey Wardens as the way out it was, seeing it as a chance to get even and clear her name.
  • Found it easy to lead. Alistair took the role of her Second and it made it easier for her. Sided with the Mages, destroyed the curse of the Dalish and became the shadowcat of Denerim as it amused her to steal from the nobility she was trying to gain support from for Land's Meet.
  • Shale, Wynne and Alistair were the companions she respected the most and trusted implicitly. Had a soft spot for Zevran but did not fully comprehend his misery. Had a grudging respect with Sten and Morrigan and was suprised when it was returned.
  • Bhelen was her arch nemesis and she was so very, very angry at what he did to her. There was no pretence at even helping him. He was going to die. His body bleeding out on the council floor did not bring the satisfaction she thought it was, however, or help her monumental Daddy issues.
  • Fell in love with Alistair. Even to her death she has no clue why. They fight like cat and dog, she is very aware of their cultural differences but somehow they can't quit each other.
  • Put Anora on the throne as her boyfriend told her time and time and time again he didn't want it. She could see he would be miserable and lonely, and understood that perticular brand of isolation well.
  • Took to her role as Commander and Arlessa of Amaranthine with gusto, but five years after the events of Awakenings she quit. (Gave the Architect the finger, by the way.) Used Gorim as a buffer between her and Orzammar, and her former Second was made temporary head of house while she dealt with life on the surface.
  • Headed 'home' to Orzammar and finally started to deal with the implications of putting Harrowmont on the throne. Over the next five years, she acted as go between for the surface and her people, trying to undo the damage Harrowmont was causing. Took back a couple of Thaigs for the glory and fun of it, too.
  • Married Alistair in the Chantry equivilent of going to Vegas -literally just them and the Chantry sister. How's that for a cultural anomaly? That really went down well at the Assembly, obviously. Was more for Alistair's political benefit at the time. Anora was pleased, anyhow, as it was the final nail in the coffin that Alistair would not try to overthrow her ruling.

Strange stuff...was dozing off for a bit and dreamed that I was in my HN's place in the final battle of Denerim. Creating a 3 stage defense of the gates when suddenly I meet a contingent of Orlesian Wardens which had just arrived...asking me about the Dark Ritual.

Leaving them behind...I lead the troops alone in clearing the Palace Quarter, and meet Cauthrien inside Fort Drakon, and a troop of Royal Honor Guard.

Then a flash, and see I my Dalish Elf berating Duncan for siding with Cailan at Ostagar, instead of arguing for retreating along with Loghain.

Guess that's what you get when you spend the whole night writing or going through fanfictions instead of sleeping.

I never remember my dreams, so boring :-/

But I practically daydream all the time and indulge my creative and/or surreal thing-er-me-jiggers daily, or something.

Yes, I'm that awesome.

Edit: Though I am fluent in making crappy amateur films.

1. Loved your Aeducan bio -- it's so similar to Gilsa's motivations! I really liked how you nicely explained away the lack of a Gorim romance, that was pretty cool and considerate for him.

2. AWESOME PICTURE!! I can see you wh0ring that one out! If that's on DA, link it so I can favorite and bump it up in popularity. See if you can dominate the Brosca search results like Aimo dominates the Aeducan search results.

Does no one else think Dain is hot in a Loghain sort of way? No one?
