You can do that? How? When I entered the Proving it automatically said I was Harrowmont's fighter. Is this is you just decide to do the Proving of your own initiative without talking to Dulin or agreeing to help him? And would telling Helmi and Dace about the forgeries require having the Shaper declare them forgeries and telling Dulin what Bhelen wants you to do?

You need to do Bhelen's quest first. Then you can enter in the name of the GW, yourself, Bhelen, Harrowmont and maybe something more.

The other one I haven't tried, so I don't know. But considering the first one, there ought to be something similar to please Harrowmont by anti-doing your quest.

So did you ever get anything from Bhelen besides Trian's maul?

Of course, it would have been much nicer if you played DN and he said 'oh, so here's your armor back.' That was some really nice armor...

When Harrowmont cast me into the Deep Roads and told me to look him in the eye and tell him I didn't kill Trian. I said "I did it and I enjoyed it" Then he called me a villain.

Well that explains that. Did you have an option of denying it?

You can always deny it. And he believes you (what a schmuck).

Well, in Harrowmont's defense (lol, this is fun!), he also has a "You're a terrible liar" response, but because there's no persuade check assigned to the I-believe-you line, the game goes to that one by default since it's the top response in the tree. If there was a persuade check added, it would have jumped down to Harrowmont not believing the PC and handing the accused the shield and sword before closing doors on the PC.

So if there was a persuade check would it just be for those lying to him or could you conceivably fail it and be accused of being a terrible liar even if you're not actually lying?

That conversation is flagged to only activate if your DN plotted with Bhelen.

Harrowmont: "Do you have anything to say before the sentence is carried out?"
PC: "Bhelen will destroy you, just as he did me."
Harrowmont: "I understand your anger. You should have been allowed to defend yourself. Had I the power to stop this, I would have."
Harrowmont: "Look me in the eye and tell me you didn't do this. For your father's sake."

The following lines come up as extra dialogue options if you triggered the Trian confrontation (i.e. the plotting).

1. I had to defend myself. He attacked first!
2. Bhelen convinced me I had to do it.
3. *Lie* I didn't kill Trian.
4. I did it and I enjoyed it.

If you didn't plot, the lines you should see are:

1. I didn't kill Trian.
2. Drop dead, old man.

Does that sound right? I'm just looking in toolkit and going by the coding. It's been a while since I played the origin without killing Trian so I don't remember exactly what Harrowmont said to me.

I think you only had those two options if you were framed. Does he care if you were defending yourself against Trian?

It just leads to the exact same lines from the "I didn't kill him" tree. I believe you, that means Bhelen was planning this from the start, blah blah blah.

Gilsa since you are better at poking toolset then me, could you post the Brosca!Mother stuff? I'm sure we all need cheering up (!) and reading a drunken sot claim we'll never do anything with our lives.

I know the companions react to her as well, so far I've only heard Morrigan.

Oh, sure, sure! I've been meaning to get around to the Brosca side of things. Just started with Aeducan first because of Gorim and all.  <3

LOL, almost tempted to make a Team Gorim sig. Hell, a Team Pearl sig to make fun of all the romantic sigs (myself included!), lol. =p

Edit: Everything cool, Soignee? Don't make me look in the Zev thread for the answer -- moves too fast!

Only Morrigan from what I remember. Don't worry. Gonna have lots of nice VOs from the drunk mom inc!

What I really want to do is sit down and go through the Orzammar dialogue. I swear, some of the VO notes have had me laughing out loud because of the instructions. The shopkeeper will say, "By the stone, (insert filler)" and the VO notes will say something like, "By the stone should be said like F'king Christ!!"

I can just see it. A guide to swearing like a dwarf on the forums and getting away with it since there's no censorship.

The DC origin would be much more epic if Gorim had some origin-specific lines in it.

Wow, that whole section was seriously convoluted -- had to break it down into multiple trees to keep it readable. I will do the drunk mom in the royal palace next.

MUMMY DEAREST!

Scripting comments: This conversation fires the first time the player tries to talk to Mother. Mother should be dirty and bleary as possible, and have a bottle in hand that she swigs from as soon as it's possible for us to have animations during dialogue.

Mother: "(Groan.) Whozzat? Why are you bothering me? Rica?" (VO: Really drunk, just waking up)

1. No, Mother, it's (FirstName). Your daughter/son?
Mother: "Don't you talk to me like I'm an idiot! You think I don't know my own kid?" (VO: Angry, defensive)
Mother: "What're you doing here, anyway? Rica said you were finally making something useful of yourself." (VO: annoyed, mean)
1a. If by useful you mean cracking skulls for a smuggler. *Go to tree 6*
1b. Doesn't it bother you that Rica has to **** herself out? *Go to tree 4*
1c. You have to stop this, Mother. You're killing yourself.
Mother: "You tell me, just what do I got that's worth living for?" (VO: Self pitying) *Go to tree 2*
1d. Never mind. Sleep it off. Again. *Go to tree 1, line 3*

2. It's the guardsmen. You're under arrest for drunkenness.
Mother: "Don't you sass me, you ungrateful brat! I made you and I can make another just like you." (VO: angry) *Go to tree 1*

3. It's the king of Orzammar. I heard you were single.
Mother: "Don't you sass me, you ungrateful brat! I made you and I can make another just like you." (VO: angry) *Go to tree 1*

4. "Never mind. Sleep it off. Again." *Go to tree 1, line 3*

TREE #1 - Don't you sass me
1. Please, Mother. I hate it when you get like this.
Mother: "'Please, Mother. I hate it when you get like this.'" (VO: Parroting what was just said to her and twisting it to sound horrible and mean.)
Mother: "What, am I embarrassing you? Don't want anyone to see that dear old mam's a lush, is that it?" (VO: taunting)
1a. You promised you wouldn't do this anymore. *Go to tree 5*
1b. Fine, yell at me because you've thrown your life away!
(IF: Female) Mother: "Don't you look at me like that, girl! I was beautiful once." (VO Ranting, upset)
Mother: "Before you were born, men would drop their tools and come running when they saw me. So take your pity and get out of my sight!" (VO: Regretful, wistful) *End dialogue*
--
(IF: Male) Mother: "Oh, did I scare you now? Big tough man's scared his mam's going to yell?" (VO: Ranting, upset)
Mother: "Don't you sodding tell me my life is over! I was crowned the Paragon of Beauty at my eighteenth name day!" (VO: Ranting, upset, drunk)
Mother: "Before you were born, men would drop their tools and come running when they saw me. So take your pity and get out of my sight!"
(VO: Regretful, wistful) *End dialogue*
1c. You have to stop this, Mother. You're killing yourself.
Mother: "You tell me, just what do I got that's worth living for?" (VO: Self pitying) *Go to tree 2*
1d. Doesn't it bother you that Rica has to **** herself out? *Go to tree 4*
1e. "Never mind. Sleep it off. Again." *Go to tree 1, line 3 *

2. I'm the only reason you're here and not dead in a gutter!
Mother: "Then you should've left me there. What've I got that's worth living for?" (VO: Lashing out, trying to be hurtful)
2a. What about me? What about Rica? *Go to tree 2, line 1*
2b. Oh, there's no talking to you when you get like this. *Go to tree 2, line 2*

Mother: "You think you'd be where you are now if I'd let you hide from a few slaps? Everything you are, I made you!" (VO: Self-pitying, justifying her abuse)
1a. Do you think that's something to be proud of?
Mother: "I tried my best! They treat us like dust, tell us we're cursed. How else are we supposed to live? We got nothing!" (VO: Upset, self-pitying)
Mother: "There's no way out. For any of us." *Go to tree 3*
1b. I stopped listening to you when I was six.
Mother: "You think it's that easy? You think you can just walk out of here?" (VO: Ranting, drunk)
Mother: "You'll always end up back in Dust Town." (VO: Mean, a dig) *Go to tree 3*
1c. I'm leaving now. You can drown in that thing for all I care. *Go to tree 3, line 2*
1d. I've got work to do. Try to dry out by the time I get home. *Go to tree 3, line 3*
2. Oh, there's no talking to you when you get like this.
Mother: "Well, who asked you? I don't need your pity. I got everything I need. Right here." (VO: Angry, rejecting player)
2a. Fine, yell at me because you've thrown your life away! *Go to tree 1, line 1b*

2. I'm leaving now. You can drown in that thing for all I care.
Mother: "Don't you talk to me that way! You're still living in my walls! My walls, do you hear me?!" (VO: Angry, drunk)
Mother: "Don't you walk away from me..." (VO: angry, drunk) *End dialogue*

3. I've got work to do. Try to dry out by the time I get home.

Mother: "I tried my best! They treat us like dust, tell us we're cursed. How else are we supposed to live?
We got nothing!" (VO: Upset, self-pitying)
Mother: "There's no way out. For any of us." (VO: self-pitying) *Go to tree 3*

2. Get upset! You said you'd try to remember better times.

Rica might be a noble hunter's child but apparently the DC father went to the surface and since they could be either gender the father has to be casteless. And it might be why she's so bitter that Rica had the heir to the throne on her first try.

Damn, DC and Rica have the same dad.

Not necessarily. If she had Rica by a noble, she'd still be casteless and if the father of the DC left, she would be alone with the two kids without him needing to be the father of both. And doesn't Rica refer to 'your father'?

Ah, I read your as plural. Damn English an it's non-specific pronouns.

Other uninteresting trivia, they seem to celebrate name-day instead of birthday. Well it happens in the real world too, but still. The Catholics got their way!

It would depend who says it. If the mom is saying it then it might refer to both (though she's just talking to the DC) but if Rica says it it implies that they have a different father.

Other uninteresting trivia, they seem to celebrate name-day instead of birthday.

Would those two be on different dates? I suppose Mardy doesn't name the DN son until he has a House but other Houses might already have names picked out. I'm willing to bet Bhelen had Endrin Jr. named the minute he knew it was a boy, for instance.
