They take her at her word when she says 'Of COURSE I'll support Alistair even though the whole reason I made contact with you is so I could be Queen' and get pissed when she sides with Loghain. I've never done that but I heard it's quite vicious. And I forgot that was you...that thread was a bit disturbing...

Heh, my PCs aren't that stupid.  Some are naive enough to think Anora will keep her word about making common cause to oust Loghain, though.  Don't expect her to support Alistair, though, Andraste's blood- it's obvious she's determined to be queen.  The Landsmeet is supposed to be able to decide, however, and sometimes my PCs underestimate what a cutthroat (bleep) she really is.  Some simply have too much integrity to lie to her about supporting her bid.  Either way, I prefer to go this route, because you get to see Anora's duplicity and Loghain's ruthlessness all in one tidy package.  Well, not so tidy, if you lose the vote and all hell breaks loose in the LM, but that is more fun anyway.  :wizard:

One of these days I will have to try that. Still, I've done the Landsmeet so many times that I'm now thouroughly sick of Eamon and Loghain's speeches but skipping too much means the dialogue just quits for awhile. Maybe I could try muting it?

If you want to change it up, just keep refusing the terms of the duel until Alistair takes over for you. =p

Like "Oh, for crying out loud! I'll kill duel him"? Does he do that unhardened? And do you have to refuse a lot? I wonder what the terms are if you refuse once. There don't really seem to be any terms at the start.

Elemena: "Alistair's claim is challenged. In the days before King Calenhad, such claims were settled by duels. Alistair against Loghain. Will the Landsmeet agree?"
Alfstanna:  "Yes, if it will avoid further bloodshed. But it must be fought according to tradition: by strength of arms only, in single combat, until one party yields."
Alfstanna: "Do you accept the terms?"
PC: "No. We refuse."
Eamon: "My friend, reconsider: Even if we defeat Loghain and all his allies here, we still cannot put Alistair on the throne. We cannot move the army against the Blight."
Eamon: "If we are to salvage anything from this Landsmeet, we must accept the duel."

1. After what he's done, Loghain will fight a fair duel?
Loghain: "Though you may count my honor as worth less than nothing, Warden, we are standing before the nobles of Ferelden. They will judge us both by our actions here."
(PC says OK or no. If no, then go to #3.)

2. The nobles will really let a fight decide Ferelden's future?

Wulff: "Why not? It's been done in the past. How do you think King Calenhad got his crown in the first place?"
(PC says OK or no. If no, then go to #3.)

3. No, this is crazy.
Alistair: "I don't think we have a choice. I'll accept the challenge."

Aye. Also if you lose Landsmeet and a duel gets proposed, you can volunteer Alistair. (This doesn't happen if you win Landsmeet as far as I can tell. Only when you lose.)

PC: "Alistair accepts."
Alistair: "You know, I could have said that." (Almost, but not quite, miffed that the player volunteered him for this.)

Yeah if you win you can make him your champion, but...I never let him fight my duels...lol. Even if my only PERSONAL problem with Loghain at that point is being called a Foreigner one to many danged times.

I only let him kill Loghain once. The rest of the time it ruins my plan of marrying him off to Anora and usually I like having Loghain in the party. It's for Alistair's own good, too, as this way he doesn't have to sleep with Morrigan and won't sacrifice himself. Posted Image

That's how my non-DN games tend to go. Sometimes you have to lose a friend to save them. I can deal with Alistair being pissed as long as he's not directly responsible for the god baby and as long as he's not falling on a sword for anyone. I just do not trust Morrigan. I know some people are best friends with her and stuff, but I ... just don't trust her, period. She even leaves the person she's in love with. That's hardcore. I was playing with the gate kisses and ESCing through all the companion chats and with Morrigan, I selected "I don't trust you" when she asks why she's not in my party and she responds with "what made you think you ever could?" She is definitely a force to be reckoned with. I just don't want to be her fool when I run into her again.

Just looked it up.

Morrigan: "After all that? I will not be going with you?" (a bit pissed off)
PC: "I cannot trust you now."
Morrigan: "And what made you think you ever could?" (enigmatic - "did you expect a snake to be anything other than a snake?")
Morrigan: "Let us part ways now. You go your way, to your destiny, and I go my way, to mine." (firm, but a bit sad to see it end.)

I only spared Loghain once, and Alistair went off to turn drunk. I just can't bring myself to do it. I have a HNF that did that, my CEF made him king solo. Or did she marry him to Anora...hmm now I can't remember. But I think all my best characters have pre-landsmeet saves so if I ever NEED to I can do it that way.

My canon Gilsa game has 127 saves. My last Brosca has 78 saves. It's amazingly easy for me to return at any point in the game to double check something. =p

Gilsa: It's obvious that line is made for those who are hostile or neutral towards Morrigan.

She saves the life of the one she loves, and wishes for him to live on gloriously. That tells me truckloads about her, as she even sends a message through her ring, a hint for you to follow her.

Besides....I do not mind having a little God Child.....perhaps I shall name him Mr. Wiggins?

I just can't bring myself to do it

Well, I can!

As much as I like Morrigan . . . "living gloriously" usually doesn't work out so well.

In fact, It would appear that large amounts of "glorious" can result in death by Ogre.

Morrigan is still a useless little witch and in 5 games I never used her. Also I am glad to tell her I would rather die then sleep with her and produce a monster. Also if you recruit Loghain, she says why should he die a hero! my only response is GTFO. Slept with her for the acheivement and besides that she is never used by me ever.

Just like how the DR itself is on the default for hostile/neutral and the plan for a more personable and friendly offer was scrapped.

To be fair, she probably never met Cailan and doesn't know she's jinxing you.

Like minutes/hours or days/weeks? Or just how long doing everything was taking. I still think 'okay, you have two days to get to the Anvil, find Branka, convince her to help, and come back' and have you actually show up before the vote FAILS. They should have had it been at least a week.
