I can see human players trying this out because they'd be interested in the exotic aspect. Back when I played EQ, half-elves were very popular. Some people liked being part human and part elf. They got to be a part of two cultures and had more freedom with their RP. Sure, they didn't fit in anywhere, but that's part of the angst. Half-dwarves would probably be the same height as elves so people would have less of an issue romancing a human or other elves.



And RP-wise, I can see the dwarves eventually accepting half-dwarves out of necessity. The only reason why noble hunters are welcomed into their ranks is because their wives can't breed fast enough to replenish the diminishing supply of Orzammar warriors. Casteless are getting a leg up this way and eventually this will extend to half-dwarves. Honestly, the way things are going -- doesn't matter if it's Bhelen or Harrowmont on the throne -- the dwarves are still alone in their fight in the Deep Roads and there are two archdemons left (three if you did the ritual). It's far from over. The dwarves are going to be the first race to fall unless something drastic happens like a birth implosion or the surfacers actually giving a damn. =p

That's why we need dwarf wardens: it's the only way to make the surfacers start giving a damn. When I played the other origins and Duncan started talking about darkspawn and you have the option to say 'Darkspawn? Isn't that a dwarven problem?' it really pissed me off because that's the kind of thinking that is going to get everybody eaten by darkspawn.

Incidentally, for half-dwarves the situation is a bit different. Dwarves aren't a very fertile race to begin with, and far less so when it comes to mating with humans and elves. In fact, it would be considered rare... rare enough that it's considered more of an oddity than a group of its own. The result is also less stigmatized... primarily because it's also less noticeable. You end up with what would appear to be a tall dwarf or a short human. That calls for a new model -- which we weren't going to get, even if we wanted to address such a rare case. Again, it's certainly something we could do in the future, though such a character would still be considered unusual.

Given the size differences between races in the game for the "tall dwarf or short human" they could've reused the elf model with some duct tape...

edit: although the alleged rarity makes me suspect playing such character would be largely limited to starring as attraction in a "donkey and half-dwarf" show.

I have noticed David Gaider did not mention longer arms on the half-dwarves. That's almost a proof

Well he is politically savvy, I'll give him that. At least during the election. Afterwards it's like all the insults and the anger he had kept within just exploded (if you watched the debate, you would laugh at how hypocritical this is).

I don't know. His badassery is a good quality. His being kind of an ****, which he also hid, is not a good quality. A useful one, perhaps, but not really 'good.'

Adding in Spirit Warrior, resisted appears even more, of course I love DPS Warrior so I always throw Templar in for knocking over enemies
