Does anyone else take it a litttttttttle too personal that their choice of avatar and what they like to draw/write in this fandom is seen as either fat/ugly/wrong? @soignee -- I've played dwarf in WoW for six years and a gnome prior to that for two years so these kind of snotty comments don't even register for me anymore. As my pa used to say, "Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder." Let me know who I need to beat up for you though.

See I played orcs (ilu, sexy orc butt) and tauren in WoW and I never got anything like it before. It's just been a smattering of annoyances todayyyyyyyy in various places of this fandom that escalated to me wanted to cut something. Biggest urge to go to the gym now and do a spin class, or something.

If I go back to WoW, I will definitely be rolling a goblin. They are soooo awesome. I saw a screenshot of their most recent model (can't find it again alas) and the female looks great. I laughed when I saw the arms went all the way to the ground. It does not bother me whatsoever, but I can see people staying with their pretty elves instead!

But yeah, that comic? Trufax. Dismissing my dwarven preferences certainly is not the best way to get me to draw what them haters want, is it? It's not rocket science =_=

Here's something I take comfort in doing though; Commission-wise, I do not discriminate against any character or pairing, all are welcome but I draw the line at drawing pr0n for dosh. But I'll draw 'em free Alistair-centric ones for the kmeme...only of him macking with the dwarf ladies. And only them.

DAO dwarves are sexy as hell. Tiny waists, big butts, slender legs. As a not-fragile woman, it's NICE being able to play a not-fragile character.

Edit: I don't care if the conversation has moved on or not -- it needs to be said with authority!

WoW graphics are much more cartoon-like and stylized, so it's much easier for the brain to glance over things like this. With goblins you have an extra factor too -- their faces are different enough from humans to drive point home they are something else.

It's his best side. And they're only supposed to be slightly ugly. Or maybe that is too harsh of a word.



Edit: He looks pretty different from my avatar pic in-game, he loves the mage hats too. All my magi do, except for a female elf.

I had specifically been not keeping up with the news of the expansion because it's like waiting for Christmas. I just didn't want to think about it. Every now and then my husband would show me something like the goblins getting a car as their mount (LOOKS FANTASTIC). Here's a video of the goblin female at that character creation screen -- I'm going crazy trying to imagine which hairstyle I'd pick:

Yes, absolutely. Of course, whenever I try to play an elf or a human they just look so freaking breakable that I have difficulty believing they can go out and slaughter their way through darkspawn hordes when they don't appear to be able to stand up to a strong breeze.

The first time I saw your disclaimer on dwarf/Alistair pairing on your DA artwork, I was stunned. It blew my mind the idea of people would even give you crap for drawing what you enjoyed about a game. It still irks me that people need that kind of hand-holding before they even view images of short people. I mean, the in-game dwarf comes up to Alistair's shoulders, ffs.

When I have more time I'm going to have to start writing DC/Alistair stuff. The Zevran thread doesn't seem to be big on 'OMG, it's a short, fat, ugly thing with gorilla arms! Keep it away from our object of gush!' like the Alistair thread sometimes is. Plus Missa's got that angle well-covered.

Not gorilla arms, orangutan arms. The males have gorilla arms.

There are a lot of pros and cons with both the Alistair and Zev threads. I like that the Zev thread is pro-dwarf, but I really like that the Alistair thread doesn't spend their time bashing Zevran. At least the Alistair thread confines their abuse to their LI, which is just mind-boggling how far it can go.
