I say food. It's either us or them, and nugs make formidable foes.

Wow, that's a big nug. And food. Definitely food. I just really wish Oghren had actually carried through with his threat to eat Schmooples that one playthrough Leliana had him.

I have a thought . . . How are they going to work Dwarfs into DA:2?

There are only 2 Dwarf cities. Orzammar and Kal-Sharok. I assume we are leaving Ferelden for the sequel.

Dwarf surfacer origin?

Kal-Sharok lies between Orlais, Tevinter and the Aderfells, so chances are we'll get to go there.

This Gaider quote makes me want to go there:

David Gaider wrote...

The other dwarven city is Kal-Sharok. It was thought to be lost to the darkspawn, but after centuries it was discovered to have survived-- although it had done so only at great cost, and with a great deal of resentment against the cousins in Orzammar who had sealed off the Deep Roads and given them up for dead.

Kal-Sharok is, if you prefer, the Pegasus to Orzammar's Galactica. Image IPB

A lot of eating on a nug. Mannnn our dwarves and Oghren must've been so homesick to see it out and squeaking when they ate their dried rations...

Dwarf surfacer origin?

Oh, I hope not. If I'm going to be a surfacer I might as well not even play as a dwarf (both do to the 'surfacers aren't real dwarves' stigma and because if you don't have the culture why bother playing as the species?) Orzammar seems to be on the very edge of Ferelden so part of it could be under a different nation (Orlais?). If Kal'Hirol is done being settled by the sequel then we know that is definitely in Ferelden as Amaranthine is pretty far in.

why thank you! Have you got to the 'hores yet?

I was aiming for Frank Milleresque dusters. What? It works in my head!

Your story is the kind of thing that my DN would be completely oblivious to until seeing a bit of it on the return to Orzammar and then have a crisis of faith about why they actually force people into that, which she's never had to think that much about having been sheltered from Dust Town her whole life.

And I see your DC seems to like Leske more than you do but they'll probably be an epic 'you're in my past' betrayal scene at some point.

God, I am predictable. Just writing the Orzammar scenes now, they're not pleasant.

Well, they weren't pleasant at the beginning, either. Maybe at the very least she'll be able to meet Endrin (under supervised conditions in the nursery) after Bhelen becomes King (because I can't imagine why a DC would ever choose Harrowmont). And it wouldn't be so obvious if I didn't know how much you can't stand Leske, which isn't actually in the story.

Actually what's giving me the bad mojo to write is the political parts, and Missa/Bhelen playing political cats paw with each other. If I am not careful it's going to be like 9000 (OVER 9k!) words on angstangstanstwoe and OH LOOK ZEVRAN YOU DO NOT HAVE CLOTHES ON AGAIN.

Which, you know, apparently all fanfiction is, according to what I've read at ff.net >.>

I tend to think the politics is the best part (and certainly what my DN cares about more than anything except making sure they don't get killed by darkspawn). How many problems could she and Bhelen have? They both want Bhelen to be King (if only for Rica) and Bhelen intends to help the casteless (if only to increase his own power). Does she just not like having to do the tasks or something?

Not that, in some way Missa does actually want to do the job right and prove people wrong, despite the brand. She doesn't trust him, and worries about Rica. And she's trying to work out if her sister is OK, her guilt that she's less of a dwarf for hating being in the city again. As well us Dust Town itself showing itself to be the rank little crab bucket it is and that she has changed, but things haven't.

And does anyone like the tasks? Well, apart from the proving. That's always fun.

I have saves from right before talking to Vartag, right before Vartag lets you see Bhelen, right before Bhelen fills you in on Branka, and right before Oghren takes you back to the Assembly for both my DN and my DC should I ever want to relive those conversation and for the rest of the times I side with Bhelen I do it at the last second because I hate his first task just that much. I do feel a little bad about Harrowmont's cousin who Bhelen's going to kill because I convinced him to support Harrowmont in the Proving but, well, politics. Similarly, Lord Helmi and Lady Dace had their chance to choose the winning side.

Ah yes, Couslands. A supposed noble family that rules Highever in the land of Ferelden.

We have dismissed that claim as being terribly cliche.

it's usually cousland/alistair too on ff.net, too. I... Just don't read it, and scroll on by on the internets. It's sad, as is has kinda soured the origin for me. Oh well.

jesuschristallthesepeoplearereadingmy****what >.>

Man I need to start actually writiing the other chapter instead of dicking about on the internets watching Heather Parisi videos...

That is one reason I can't stand to play a Cousland now. There are just to many of them, which is sad because I liked the origin at first.

I've done, what, three stories with that pairing but only one of them actually as Alistair in it, one story where Leske isn't a suicidal moron, one with a CE, and ten involving the DN. Seriously, we need more dwarven fanfiction on that site because I have a third of the DN ones.

I wrote one DN for a friend who wanted "alistair and aeducan older and married." She was all "but... ok... this wasn't what I thought I was getting. " I sort of tried to show the cracks in the marriage, lulz.

A lot of written female Aeducans suffer from BUT I'M A PRINCESS ANDANDAND oh Alistair you are pretty as well, so it's not just Couslands.

And no one writes about Brosca! I can count on one hand the Brosca fics. Lulz.

Oh, I know. I honestly can't imagine why any DN who found out that Alistair was the heir to the throne would pursue a relationship with him. Regardless of what he say, it's clear that he is and so unless they fell hopelessly in love before Redcliffe then it makes no sense. And a DN agreeing to be a mistress? She's a freaking princess and the very idea should deeply offend her.

Not to mention that most of the ones on ff.net are poor innocent victims who seem to understand that dwarven politics is NOT NICE...it's really a wonder that Bhelen even bothered trying to kill those characters...

There's three Aeducan fics I read. One is pure fluff, and I know it's fluff, but I read anyway. One is essentially porn with a plot and is pretty much "and then Aeducan had lots of sex with Alistair and Zevran," and one is pretty much abandoned and featured a returning blight. I think the writer got scared and ran off.

On the other side of dorfies there's an amazing Brosca fic called "cake," and her Brosca is lot nicer then mine... and the things the writer does with words is amazing; better writer then me, to be honest. Her descriptions are amazing. I also read something out of either masochism or spite about a male Brosca that is ...special.

*eta* I read yours too! God I am such an awkwardly socially inept idiot sometimes, please kick me in the shins.
