This is an old post by David Gaider so take it for what it's worth, but I do think it's very possible that we may see a dwarf romance someday.

They probably didn't include a dwarf romance because no one expected dwarves to be as awesome as they are and thus gain enough popularity among the playerbase that there was a demand for it. After all, decades of cookie-cutter fantasy fiction have hammered into us that dwarves are supporting characters, who exist for two purposes: reaching your fantasy race quota during the world-building phase and supporting the main protagonist by selling him weapons, making him gizmos, or watching his back when he charges headlong into a horde of goblins/orcs/gnolls/orks/darkspawn. It goes all the way back to Papa Tolkien, who stuck a dwarf into LotR (apparently just to remind us that dwarves were important to the prequel even though they have no real relevance in this story) and then made him the most useless member of the Fellowship (seriously, is there a point to Gimli other than giving Legolas slashfic writers something to turn into horribly written, hilariously misinformed erotica?).

To be quite honest (sorry Gilsa ) this is the first time I've seen dwarves as sexyyyyyyyyyyy. (Ay mami!) And that includes the male dwarves! Gimme sum Gorim pls... Lord Helmi too! [zoolander] He's a cool guy. [/zoolander]

I played WoW where they were The Enemy (diiieeeeeee alliance scum) and something for my cows to punt over Lumber Mill with. I did, however, play sexy orcs, and there was thinly veiled LOLUGLY comments there.

I like Discworld dwarves, but they're played mainly for LOLZ there and the stereotype is turned on it's head with notable characters like Cassanunda, Cheery Littlebottom and Pepe, and the dwarves that own the printing press for the newspaper. And of course the current king -or should that be queen?- of the dwarves, who is amazing, but none of this is making me want to write happy fun times with and/or feel the urge to draw.

SOOOO. I had a point to this, and I'm not sure where it went.

Hmm, here is some interesting news.

LOTR Online Goes Free

So, we can play as a dwarf in Tolkien's world, reclaim Moria and battle along the fellowship for free. ( Well, you will have to pay to unlock some special features, or you can unlock them through points you gain in game )

Me too but in my defense this IS the first time I've gotten into a fandom that includes dwarves.

Chapter Ten is up! So I did manage to update today after all. And no thanks to the Zev thread and they're distractingly adorable pictures that made it take twice as long to get those last 2K this morning...

The previews made it clear for me. Then it was confirmed in the Character Creator.

Dialog tweaks adds kissing in public for Leliana and Zevran. Charsen makes some amazing pre tent kisses. I repaired the dwarf kiss while out and about so the dwarf kisses his mouth instead of his nose (nothing at all like the amazingness that Charsen has done, but that nose kiss drove me nuts and since I suck at the cutscene editor, I just did something at my level of expertise).

In other news...I recently started Fallout 3 and now I am stuck at making a call at Tempeny Tower....should I side with the Ghouls or Allistair ( the irony of it is not lost upon me ) Tenpenny....hmmm.

I dislike the ghouls. They kill my merchants after a while (IIRC).

I've done both -- one of them pissed me off more than it should have, but it was funny too.   Fallout 3.
