Hah. In Awakening, I was cheering on Oghren when he stood up for the dwarven lasses (source):

Velanna: Tell me about your people, dwarf.
Oghren: Well, elf, for starters, we do not like being called "dwarf."
Velanna: I apologize. Please tell me about your people, Oghren.
Oghren: I'll tell you one thing -- you bony human and elven types have nothing on our women.
Velanna: You think I'm bony?
Oghren: Yeah. Look at that rump. You call that a rump? A man needs some cushion.

But dwarves are fun, and have very compelling origin stories. I prefer the DN origin, because I love Gorim. You get some pretty great dialogue with him. I think Orzammar is also much more fun as a dwarf.

Who doesn't love Gorim? Well, Oghren, apparently, but he's just jealous. And very lucky he never called Gorim the DN's bootlicker in a DN game.

LOL. The sweet irony is that both Gorim and Oghren are voiced by the same person (Steve Blum).

He also voices Irving, which is funny. He voices dwarves, who can't use magic and a very powerful enchanter:P

I really recommend playing Awakening with the Velanna/Sigrun/Oghren combination. I believe they're all written by the same person so they play off each other well. The ongoing chat isn't listed in the wiki for me to copy and paste, but the gist of it is that Oghren is deliberately screwing with Velanna's mind by telling her that dwarves are born from rocks. The grey rocks are boys and the pink rocks are girls and the parents have to dip the rocks in hot lava once per day before it cracks open and reveals a baby. Sucks for those who drop their rocks in the lava, etc. It goes on and on and then Velanna is checking the story with Sigrun to find out the truth and gets mad that she's been played. Oghren and Sigrun then have a private laugh over Velanna falling for it. I'm listening to this whole thing on my dwarf and I'm just laughing at all this. It really added a lot of flavor to the game.

Also accepts the one dwarf who wishes to study magic! Never sided with the templars, but I read that Greagor will say hell no when you ask if Dagna can study. =p

Steve Blum voiced The Wolverine. Everything else he does pales in comparison.

"This shield stands for everything the Aeducans are: The proud and tenacious defenders of Orzammar. I shall die before I lay my hand again on another shield that does not bear the Aeducan crest. " Paragon Duran.

No Aeducan would ever relenquish his shield for something else! Stats don't matter!

I like it. I was so glad that the Aeducan shield was one of the items that transferred over considering how many didn't. And keeping that promise is not hard given the heraldry system in Awakenings. If my party members thought it was weird that all their shields had the Aeducan crest on them, they didn't say anything. Then again, they tended to talk to each other more than me so...

You don't even need to ask him. Just tell Dagna that the Circle was destroyed and she'll show up anyway. Why doesn't Greagoir want her around, anyway?

Do eeet.

And I didn't realize I'd see Gorim again. I thought he was gone at that point. I knew who the four game romances were so I just went ahead with Alistair. Imagine my shock when I saw Gorim in Denerim. I SO BADLY wanted to say "you can be my second again!" to Gorim, but Alistair was standing right there. I was saving my game to the same file the whole way and didn't realize the value of having multiple saves. I had to wait until my second DN game just to find out what the hell happened when you pick the "you can be my second again!" option. I somehow thought maybe his wife wouldn't exist if I wanted him back, lol.

Dwarf commoner female was the first one I started and finished with. Also only charector that no matter the scenes her face didn't bother me.  I approved so much with the oghren conversations with Velanna and Sighrun.

Dwarves in DA are awesome! The Devs made a really nice job when they decided to make Dwarven society such a nightmare of inequality between the casteless and the members of castes. The idea of having groups such as the Legion of the Dead and the Silent Sisters (iirc) is incredibly cool as well.

The Provings also perfectly embody the spirit of warfare and honour that is the main characteristic of Dwarves in DAO (that and devious politicking).

I am very fond of my Dwarf Commoner who grew up to become a very interesting character in his own right. Dwarf Noble is really epic and bears the comparison. Playing a Noble Dwarf is not just playing a spoiled brat like in the Human Noble origin.

I'm very fond of the little guys.

Regarding romance, the Dwarf Noble gets enough action in the Origin and I don't believe a Dwarf Commoner would object from having a relationship with Morrigan or Leliana (although it does look a bit funny indeed).

My favourite character in Awakening is Sigrun by the way.
