I wrote one DN for a friend who wanted "alistair and aeducan older and married." She was all "but... ok... this wasn't what I thought I was getting. " I sort of tried to show the cracks in the marriage, lulz.
If you mean the ridiculously hot Masked party fic you wrote, then I sure as hell love that to bits. I found the conflict you depicted between married Aeducan and unhardened Alistair to be believable (something I see my own version of the pairing will have down the road too), but the love was still there, just more seasoned/mature and less puppies & rainbows.
A lot of written female Aeducans suffer from BUT I'M A PRINCESS ANDANDAND oh Alistair you are pretty as well, so it's not just Couslands.
>_>
Can't say I'm not guilty of this in my fancomics :B It was the initial reason I chose to play DNF after all :B *hangs head in shame*

Oh, I know. I honestly can't imagine why any DN who found out that
Alistair was the heir to the throne would pursue a relationship with
him. Regardless of what he say, it's clear that he is and so unless they
fell hopelessly in love before Redcliffe then it makes no sense. And a
DN agreeing to be a mistress? She's a freaking princess and the very
idea should deeply offend her.
As DNF, I did the Arl Eamon/Sacred Ashes quest 3rd in the list, so Aeducan was already a little far in to reconsider her feelings for Ferelden's future king. But in the end, she gave Anora the throne because a) She respected the woman for wanting the throne and actually being a good ruler prior to the cluster**** her daddy started, and
And if anyone suggested Aeducan the mistress option, she would punch them in the nads.

Initially I started as a F!Cousland as my very first game, but she quickly faded into the bg after I started my DNF. I do play a M!Cousland now however and is reflected in my fanarts of the origin, which seems to make a of number Cousland fans a tad unhappy

My brains hurts enough already from playing C&C. I don't need to have horrible images of Howe "invading" Bryce's castle while I try to concentrate.

Lady, you have made many people roll dwarves through your art. IT IS COMMUNITY SERVICE AND DAMN FINE PR. Hush now, you're excused! TBH we had similar epilogues- unhardened!Alistair/F!Aeducan off into grey warden paradise, so I cannot say anything. I will say that my Aeducan is not in my head as vividly as my Brosca, and I find it difficult writing her. Missa Brosca onnnn the other hand is there scowling at me to write, punching people in the face and

I think my DN lost all romantic sentiment somewhere between finding Trian's body and learning about Gorim's wife...

In fact, Alistair was such a sweetheart that when I found out he was heir, I naively thought we had a good ending coming because dwarf princess and human prince ... it could be the start of a happy marriage and two kingdoms coming together under one banner! Boy, was I wroooooong. I saw my dwarf as a commander and not really a princess so I was more focused on ending the Blight for the good of my people. I would ask myself what Duncan would do in my shoes. This was why I thought Loghain would be an asset when I spared him and I was floored at Alistair's anger when I couldn't reason with him.
I still feel bad about that ending, but I'm sticking to it. I just can't justify the dark ritual. Think about it. The darkspawn are amassing under my home and the archdemon is what gets them all in a frenzy. WHY would I give that Old God an extended warranty? He's just going to get older and the process would start again. How many more dwarves are going to die because I wanted to be selfish? Frankly, it's my dwarf's opinion that all the old gods need to die to end these cycles faster. Five old gods dead now, two more to go. Gave the finger to the architect, too.

Edit: I reserve the right to be weak and make a dwarf that has a surviving Alistair romance that I can import into other games. In the meantime, I will just live vicariously through Aimo's art.

The darkspawn have attacked the surface from the 2nd blight to 5th one, ignoring Orzammar and even laying the pressure off them. It forces the surface to fight the darkspawn, killing many of them and thus giving the dwarves a breather.
The darkspawn are not going to disappear just because the Old Gods will die, in fact without the old gods to call them it would probably even get worse for the dwarves.

As long as it doesn't overrun them because the dwarves would be even more alone in their fight against darkspawn (and they never have any help anyway unless a Blight is goinig on or the GW are bored). The darkspawn have attacked the surface from the 2nd blight to 5th one, ignoring Orzammar and even laying the pressure off them. It blows my mind how people can go so far regarding romance in a VIDEO GAME. Makes me lose my faith in humanity.
Hello, I am a girl. I like romance, and talking about it. I also like dwarves! Happily these two overspill into a handy flowbucket.

If there are no old gods left, won't that mean there's no more music to call the darkspawn?
And what do you think happens then, huh? I am going on a whim and say that the darkspawn would become a VERY grave danger for the dwarves, as without the music they would just focus solely on fighting.

It's not about talking of romance that frightens me, but that some people are OBSESED over the romance in video games. Take for example the Tali threads in ME2, well over 8 k posts for crying out loud.
They speak about video game characters as if they are real people. Urgh...
Now don't get me wrong, I like Leliana and I like Morrigan, but seriously there is a limit.

I would like to say that the Zevran thread is actually rather ok. Cause he is a deep character and that thread does discuss in detail about him.
However Alistair, Tali threads are just creepy. You got all these people saying how cute they are, how charming and bull****, as if they are in love with character. Urgh...makes me vomit.
Anyway to bring this topic back in line, I give you another expert !
Dragon Age : War of Shadows
Prologue: Origins
"You are an insult to our house!" Trian bellowed as he smashed his maul against Duran's shield. It broke to pieces upon impact, giving Duran a mere second to avoid Trian's next blow. He backed away, while drawning the old Aeducan shield from his back and catched his breath.
There was a lul in the fighting, all sounds of the battle around them forgotten as they circled around each other. Then Trian roared in anger and charged his younger brother, bringing his maul in downward swing to crush Duran. He expected it, and planned for it. Raising his shield in the last second, he blocked the blow, the old shield holding against the ferocity of Trian's attack.
There was surprise on Trian's face as his swing failed, he looked Duran in the eye while the younger dwarf used the opening to thrust his sword into his brother's neck, severing arteries. Pushing Trian down with his shield, he let his sword slide out.
He did not feel a stab of guilt. Endrin would die soon, and then he would take his place as the King of Orzammar.
Soon the fighting died, his small company of two dozen winning. Duran didn't even glance at his brother's body, he looked towards his troops. Many of them were dead, save for half a dozen warriors and two scouts, one of which was badly wounded, but they had won.
He knelled by the wounded scout, the man was grasping for his final breaths but he looked at Duran with respect.
"You shall be honored for your courage today. I will make sure of it." Duran said, placing a hand on the dying man's shoulder. His eyes light up and he tried speaking, only for a gurgle to come out. His head fell a second latter and his ragged breaths stopped.
"Milord, we should...." Gorim began, but didn't finish as the sound of armored footsteeps echoed in the cavern.
