Something a duster would have to remain defiant and it be a f*ck you, but slightly more poetic?

Something with "you'll what good your ancestors do you then/now".

*is surprisingly bad at coming up with cheesy lines*

Darkspawn might bite, but the Dust will strip you bare.

It's not my skill it's my interest. I figure if I abandon a character there long enough then sooner or later the darkspawn will show up and eat them.

Better hope none of them turn into Broodmothers.

You know...speaking of Broodmothers, it might provide an interesting argument as to why Dwarf women were not allowed to fight. I mean certainly losing men in battle is bad enough, but losing a woman might lead to her capture instead of death and increasing the Darkspawn numbers in the end.

I thought knowledge of Broodmothers existence was limited to the GW and a few others. It would explain why the old Dwarven Empire was overwhelmed so quickly when the Darkspawn started their genocide against the dwarves.

I'm not sure if the GW at large know about how broodmothers are created but the dwarves certainly don't. And how would they, anyway? If it hadn't been for Hespith would he have realized about Laryn?

Sigrun seems to know about the Broodmothers, how you explain that?

The legion and dwarves in general must have encountered them before.

Not so sure about that; the darkspawn would notice a huge battalion of dwarves heading towards a Broodmother and rally with their superior numbers. It took your GW forever to reach the Broodmother in the Deep Roads fighting an enemy whom most of them soldiers are on the surface. After the Blight, it would be near impossible for the dwarves to encounter a Broodmother unless they get lucky. When there is a Blight, almost everyone is fighting on the surface ignoring the darkspawn in the deep roads except for the Legion whose numbers are limited.

They had an empire, and have been fighting darkspawn for almost a millennium. Them not knowing about it would be outlandish.

Think of the Broodmothers as Queen Ants in a colony: they are going to be deep underground and heavily guarded by darkspawn. It is not an easy task, and even if they found one, how would they know the process of how a Broodmother is created?

I think that the dwarves haven't been completely defensive.

Imagine this scenario, darkspawn take a lightly guarded Thaig, then comes the army to reclaim it. They find surviving women that tell the tale.

That nothing like that would have ever happened would be really weird.

I thought the Darkspawn immediately drag the women down deeper into their territory to prevent that from happening. Like Flemeth said, they are far more cunning than they appear.

I take it back, I must have read something wrong if I am stating no one has seen a Broodmother before. It would be rare and hard to get through the darkspawn horde to find one, but it had to happen. Though I am not convinced the dwarves know how they are created, though it is possible.

Epic Failure on my part.

I think that the only way they would be able to tell how Broodmothers were created - no matter how many of them they saw - is if they saw a woman who was in the middle of transforming like Hespith who filled them in which seems highly unlikely.

If they just catapulted Dwarven berserkers into the horde, the whole Blight problem would be solved quickly.

But then I said it was unlikely they saw a Broodmother, which is far different than saying they know how they are created. It tend to make such mistakes when I type instead of thinking.

kay so dwarf thread come up with a hella cheesy phrase a dwarf might use in the place of "that what nourishes me kills me" or "I find strength in my weakness..." Something like Oghren's last words at the gate but punchy and kind of "do or die.".

Something about obsidian, shattering and sharpness.

"Nothing's sharper than shattered glass."

"You know how they make an obsidian blade, right? You gotta break the stone first."

"Know what happens when you break a bottle?"  *crash* *shatter* "It gets more dangerous."
