Your father is a wise man then.

I'll PM you if you're that desperate to find out why and how what happens, Costin

Please do, oh and review my latest chapter, if you care that is :P

That is true. I was looking at the larger picture (and partly reacting out of protectiveness). A common thief is one thing, but this was a woman who had Leliana framed, tortured, and left for dead along with sending assassins after her while pretending it was just a singing telegram. My decision to kill her is my way of making sure she doesn't come back for Leliana again after we all part ways in the end.

Out of curiousity, do you prefer hardened Leliana or default Leliana?

Personally? I prefer the characters the way they are when you meet them. It's a combination of things, i dislike the whole concept of pushing people to change since it's something imo that --should it happen at all-- ought to stem out of person's own conviction and soul-searching. Plus, their genuine concerns about others are adorable and i think precious in the grey DA settings. Stripping them off it... that feels kind of like strangling a puppy, sure one can tell themselves they're only doing it for the puppy's own good so it doesn't get hurt by someone else, but, well.

Of course, as far as the played characters are concerned that's going to differ -- my CE didn't feel it's her place to mess with anyone, my snotty HN thought Alistair should wake up and smell the coffee, and my mage is likely to try to corrupt anyone they can precisely because he's a sick pervert and gets a kick out of screwing with people like that. I got sick of hearing all about Leliana plans to go help with the Ashes so I started hardening her so she could actually do something useful in the Deep Roads. That may not be the BEST reason but...oh well.

You can always just leave the dragon alive too so it keeps guarding the Urn. Leliana then shows up at the end in regular clothing and either goes after Marjolaine or i dunno, but either way there's no Chantry business even if she's unhardened.

@tmp -- *nods* Thanks for sharing that perspective. And I agree with your stance that characters should decide for themselves rather than have us be in the position to change their personality. I suspect this might be limited to origins since trying to write separate dialogue for both hardened and unhardened versions is twice as much work and time is not on their side for expansions/sequels. ;)

Was poking around on DANexus and found some changes related to dwarves. What do you guys think of these improvements to the NPCs in the dwarf commoner origins? These are from VirusCats Lore-friendly NPC remake project v3_0.

I think the changes are nice and subtle. Rica still looks like Rica, y'know? Jarvia is not as masculine looking.

So the DN origin does have a few continuity issues with the return to Orzammar. For instance, the Proving Master has brown hair in the origin but in the DC origin and the rest of the game he has grey hair. Also, they call Lord Dace the head of House Dace and his son the heir to House Dace when in the game Lady Dace is the deshyr and either the head of House Dace who lets her father influence her like Lord Helmi lets his mother or her father is the head although since she's the deshyr I'm leaning towards the former.

So how would that work, exactly, since it's only been a year (assuming, of course, that they didn't just mess up)? I suppose it could be canon that either the DN killed Mandar or someone else did and Lord Dace was disgraced enough/distraught enough/dead enough to not be the head anymore and he had no other children. Does Lady Dace being his sister that took over after he was no longer up for the task fit in with the lore? Her father seems like he's been long-used to running things and making deals even without being head and that might very well be the norm when the previous head retires instead of dying and their children take over.

Probably, yes. Though I'm the only non-dwarf person who thinks Bhelen is sort of attractive, so it could be worst

Meh the whole "I will wear your pretty, pretty teeth as a braclet" line is kinda a turn off for me.

I actually think girls trying so hard to be badasses and intimidating to be cute, even if they fail miserably.

In fact, Morrigan is one of the rare few who can pull the badass / intimidating factor so subtly Posted Image

My canon, Gilsa. (The one in the commission with Gorim.) I actually miss her, but I've already played out her story! I still have to redo her Awakening game so I'm looking forward to that. Bothers me that I didn't know about Sigrun's personal quest being bugged and I just have this thing about doing right by all my dwarf homies so definitely redoing that one.

I was a little bored with my current DN, but since I've picked her up again in the last few days, I am really digging her. I really like how she's different from Gilsa. I just crowned Bhelen and he gave me Trian's maul, which thrilled me. I had forgotten that I made her a 2H warrior specifically so I could use a different family weapon (Gilsa is already using the family shield).

Gonna turn in a few quests in Orzammar and then head back to Redcliffe so I can finally get Landsmeet started and talk to GORIM AT LONGGG LAST.

Edit: It's funny, but when I romance Alistair on this DN, I sometimes mourn Gilsa's loss since their relationship is over and I feel Alistair belongs with her the most. I know this is weird, but it makes sense to me in my head! But on the bright side, if there's a dwarf romance available, Gilsa will be a free agent at that point and be my first dwarf to do the romance.

Oh, if it turns out that we have to play brand new characters in DA2, I am still reusing Gilsa's face and playing with the same mindset she had. =p

I miss my Canon, Arcturus, too. I might actually redo the game with him. I also miss it because that's the only playthrough where I romance Morrigan. The others are not worthy of romancing her lol

That's exactly how I feel about Alistair. I won't romance him on anyone, but my dwarf noble. I did romance him on a DC as my second character, but that's because I wasn't sure which dwarf origin I would like better. I ended up deleting that playthrough once I decided Alistair + DN felt most right. The only reason why I am even romancing him on a second DN is that if Alistair ever returns in a sequel and the story keeps going, I don't want to have my face pressed against the window watching the parade go by. I don't want to change Gilsa's ending with sparing Loghain because that is the core of who she is. It would cheapen that game. So hence second DN to keep things different, sort of like a parellel universe. =p (If that makes sense!)

BTW, still a good opportunity to get the PC game if you're thinking of redoing your game. There are mods to make your last night with Morrigan special and the Morrigan mod helps to clear some bugs. Charsen has improved kisses for Morrigan, too. Just saying!

I would have to upgrade my PC a lot, since I can't stand playing on medium quality. But yea I am considering it. Having the PC version might also allow me to have the black executioner helm that my canon always wears (which I found randomly). That's one reason why I am hesitating playing him again. I might not be so lucky and find the same helm :(
