Soignee, did you see that tmp's currently working on Alistair + dwarf scenes? YAAAAAY. I'll find his screenshots and edit them in here if they're not too far back.

You know, it's strange, Gilsa. All your DN pictures look adorable and your DC ones look like she desperately wants to kill someone. I'm not sure if that's intentional but it's sure apropos.

I noticed this, too! My DC would scowl if I jumped onto her and I realized that this was triggering her violent speech while she fought in combat. My DN has the smart voice so I've never seen her get angry, but my Brosca has the pissed-off look on her face quite often and she has the violent voice.

I'm pissed off guys . . . but also not really surprised. It WOULD take "the Mariner" from "Waterworld" to actually do something effective about the oil spill, wouldn't it?

Loilinar is an Ivo, too?!?! I knew there was a reason I couldn't stand him!

Edit: I must say that I can't see the resmeblance, though.

Though the wiki also says 'Loilinar Ivo is a haughty dwarven noble of the warrior caste' even though that's contradictory so who even knows if his House name is accurate.

The wiki is written by folks like ourselves . . . tack on the fact that info about Dwarf House names is spotty at best and there are going to be a bunch of mistakes.

I guess they mean that that's a warrior and from the noble caste. I'm going to look him up on the toolset and see if it says he's an Ivo. Because if he is...I really hate that House.

Edit: Okay, I changed it to 'dwarven warrior of the noble caste.'

He does say he's 'Lolinar Ivo, warrior. Which is more than I can say about that useless sod' which is really ironic given he complains that he's got a bad knee and can't go fight on the Surface once you've chosen a King. Seriously, everyone I've met from House Ivo just fails. Posted Image

Okay, so awhile back some people were wondering why Bhelen was so eager to deal with the Blight and the best answer we could come up with was that he knew that it was a risk to Orzammar as well. While that may be true, I have found another motivation for him. Tattle on Vartag to the Shaper and you get the chance to ask about some very interesting things.

PC: Can you tell me anything about Prince Bhelen?

Shaper: The prince consulted me before his father died. He wanted to know about King Bemot, the last King to rule during a Blight. (VO: emotionless) I told him Bemot made many changes during his rule. The Assembly was even disbanded for a two-year period. (VO: emotionless) Bemot declared that, in times of war, the Warrior Caste answered directly to the King and all voting was suspended. Bhelen seemed quite interested. (VO: carefully non-judgemental but a little worried)

Given that we know that Bemot was a commoner who became King and a Paragon in one move it doesn't surprise me that he wanted changes. And it's a clear indication of what Bhelen's ruling style was going to be.

I also found:

PC: Is it true you're related to Harrowmont?

Shaper: He is a kinsman, yes. If you count to the sixth degree of remove, I'm related to every noble lineage still represented in Orzammar. (VO: explaining something boring) I can even trace my descent directly to House Zygmunt, which lost its thaig to the darkspawn thirteen generations ago (VO: a dull recitation).

PC: Do you get to vote on the next King?

Shaper: The Shaperate do not vote. We simply record history as it happens. (VO: flat)

PC: But you have a preference for King?

Shaper: I cannot speak my opinions. History can be changed with a careless word (VO: careful, not answering)

Vartag, of course, made him sound quite a bit more biased than he appears to be (though you know he's pulling for Harrowmont) and I guess this answers the question of whether the Shapers are nobles.

And speaking of Vartag:

PC: What do you know about Vartag Gavorn?

Shaper: The Gavorn family is a minor one, founded when a daughter of the Forender House married down to a Warrior Caste man (VO: Explaining something boring) Her brother died, leaving her father heirless, so the Assembly granted him a new family name and allowed him to adopt his daughter's children as heirs (VO: Explaining something boring) Vartag Gavorn is on record asking the Assembly to bar Harrowmont from King Endrin's sickroom. He is a vocal supporter of Prince Bhelen (VO: carefully non-judgemental)

So Vartag is from a lesser family that descended from Dulin's. Odd. I'm not sure I understand the explanation of why House Gavorn was founded. If the father was the head of House Forender then why wasn't there anyone else to take up the title? And if he wasn't why did he need his own House? It's very strange.

Gilsa, is that Leliana and Alistair I see?

As for family. I trace my lineage to Hassan son of Ali son of Abi Talib. Ali is the cousin of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). So I am a Hashemite. My current family name is first traced to the 12th century and they were important hadith religious scholars. Oh and my great great uncle was a pioneer of independence against the Ottomans and then the French (they called him the Fox). And my other great uncle was the president of Syria. In fact, the very first Syrian president is my maternal great great grandfather too. And then people are surprised I want to study politics, pfff.

I'm related to one of the men who went over Niagra Falls in a barrell and survived. He later died after slipping on a banana.

I don't know a lot about my family, a lot of our family records were lost in a fire before my paternal great grandfather immigrated to America from Ireland. We also lost all of our family heirlooms and our (supposed) fortune in said fire. Beyond that, I'm a child of paupers. :P My family hasn't researched it's lineage too much.

We place great importance on family history. Sadly, mostly not on old history. I did a lot of research myself.

Well we have the family tree written, with stamps and witnesses certifying and all that. So it's most probably authentic. There, my name is written as Sayyed Ayman, aka Lord Ayman btw (that's because I am a Hashemite) Posted Image.

Anyways, there is a list of every single person in my direct lineage from now all the way to the 7th century. Prophet Muhammad being the top of the list (which means prior that, I come from Ishmael son of Abraham). So  I researched a few names, spoke to old people and read some books. also researched a bit on the net.
I found out that in the 12th century, we were very important religious scholars. Interesting.

Nothing really spectacular unfortunately.

Ha, we don't have a family tree. Americans are not known for being close to their extended family. I know about a third of my family and actually talk to less than that. Of course, I'm fairly certain that a lot of my paternal family may still be in Ireland.

I don't know a lot about my extended family either. Only up to second cousins. The family tree is only about our direct lineage. The family branched out a lot during all this time.
