yeah, I vaguuuuuuuuuely recall being pounced on by someone there when I returned to Orzammar and trying to work out who they are. If you the male DN I think she's there to tell you about Mardy's pregnancy. On your DN it's more "oh, you. Returned have you? What fun!

Nereav (spelling) is the woman who ambushes you. She is in the commonor section, blocking a bridge, to encourage you to talk to her. She was to be Trians wife, which is how she knows you and acknowledges you.

I thought Jaylia Helmi was the girl Trian was going to marry? Or did his journal lie to me? Maybe Nerav is Jaylia's sister?

Maybe, I'm not sure. She really just assumes you (the player, not the character) knows her and It's really confusing. I think she's just Jaylias sister then.

Right, Nerav was going to be your sister-in-law as she says to you in conversation. She says she was a "potential match" but I guess Trian ended up picking her sister or something.

You never talk to her in the origin, but it is implied you two have spoken before that.

She says something about how 'if things had been different we would have been sisters-in-law' which initially lead me to believe that she was Trian's betrothed but checking his journal proved that that wasn't so. Then I just thought that the DN and Nerav were friends (she, at least, had the decency to acknowledge who you were without calling you an exile unlike pretty much everyone but Adal and seemed glad to see you) and if her close relative - sister? - Jaylia was marrying into the family they'd be considered sisters. If, however, Trian decided to maintain the traditional Aeducan-Helmi alliance by marrying one of them and she was a high-ranking member of the family you could be right about her being a possible bride for Trian. Ofcourse, then things would have needed to be REALLY different as not only would Trian have to be alive in the first place but he'd have needed to choose her.

So I just loaded up a save with a non-dwarf and went through the conversation with her again:

PC: Did you know Endrin?

Nerav: Only as a potential match for one of his sons.

I assumed she was talking about Trian, but it could of been Bhelen or the "other son".

I doubt it was for Bhelen since she seems to really hate him and since he doesn't have a wife or anyone lined up to be Queen if she were an option she'd be more supportive. He's really young, anyway, so I think they were worried about settling Trian and the DN before worrying about him.

Could be the DN as that's a guy in all non-DN playthroughs but the sister-in-law comment would point to Trian. Then you have to wonder why she didn't just SAY Trian was the son and if it were the exiled and presumed dead DN I can see why she wouldn't want to advertise. What does she say to a male DN? Of course, I would have liked to meet Jaylia. All we know about her is she could put up with Trian for long periods of time and she likes the color green.

Hey Gilsa, what does Nerav Helmi say to the DNM once he recognizes her?

Oh, yeah, how did you manage that? I completely forgot to ask. No worries if it's too complicated to answer. ;)

The DNM tree is as follows:

Nerav: "Who are... by the ancestors! You were exiled into the Deep Roads. How can you be standing here?"
DNM: "Nerav? Nerav Helmi? Is that you?"
Nerav: "After all, under different circumstances, we might have been married."
Nerav: "But you were supposed to be dead. How is it you live?"

Blah blah blah. I assume your question got answered. ;)

So for non-DN and the DNM she was his potetial match and for DNF she was either Bhelen's or (more likely) Trian's although he settled on Jaylia? And there's no extra dialogue (especially if you get reinstated) and your love interest doesn't notice, huh? I swear, what's the point of bringing these people if they never pay attention?

Has anyone given thought to what their Paragon-Heraldry would look like? Some of you draw fanart, so i'm curious.

My DN would rather stay with the Aeducans, especially if Bhelen's dead and she's the head. It's not like they can FORCE her to start her own house, after all, and she's not going to be having any heirs so she wouldn't weaken herself like that.

Gorim says something about how the Proving is partly being held because Harrowmont realizes you're not really into noble guys and thinks that if they impress you fighting you might be interested. Naturally, my DNF had to enter the Proving then as they'd only be interesting if they could beat her (which didn't happen). I think the DNF was putting off the whole marriage thing not only because of the possible romance she was already in but because if she were to get married she would be expected to have children right away, which would really ruin her prospects as a fighter right when her career was about to take off. Also, dwarven society - although the DNF doesn't really get confronted with it - seems pretty sexist when it comes to fighting. The only female fighters who are automatically taken seriously are the Silent Sisters who can't function without an interpreter and so aren't a threat or viable marriage prospects. If the DNF were to get married you just know there'd be some moron who she'd need to castrate for trying to 'put her in her place' (as the Proving Master so eloquently stated about Lady Helmi if you beat her as a male) and if he's not going to be able to have children and she doesn't love him, why marry him?

So Endrin might want her married off (though I'm not sure, it really depends on if he wants her or Trian to succeed him) but it would make it easier to dismiss her as just another noble's wife and when she's that close to the throne why would she?

Yeaaaah I noticed that about dwarven society. Doesn't one noble even say if you're a female... its 'interesting' that you've made Commander?

Ah well being a Warden is better, and my DN will most likely end up with Alistair- two exiled royals happily slaying darkspawn together

That's why my DN refuses to go back to Orzammar until she's wearing armor made from a dragon she killed herself. Hopefully the fact that the DNF is basically the most skilled fighter in Orzammar and didn't even need to mutilate herself first will help fight the stereotype.
Especially should they return to Orzammar and, I don't know, become Queen after Harrowmont gets himself poisoned. Posted Image

Just finished Orzammar last night with my DC. Crowned Bhelen. It went pretty much as I suspected, no real surprises.

PS Oh wait, one surprise, I didn't realize how kick-ass rogues get as they get up in levels. (My first rogue)

One thing, in the DN play, how come we don't see Rica at all, even though we see her in our Origin? It would have been nice to talk to her especially to get her perspective from the DN side.

Yeah, I think there;s only the "oh, pardon me lady/lord Aeducan" thing at the beginning where she's in Bhelen's room. That's it.

Well, given that Vartag gets pissed when Rica shows up at the Assembly (which he strangely enough says is because she's a woman and not because she's casteless even though at least a third of the Assembly appears to be female) and Harrowmont's criers kept talking about her, I'm guessing Bhelen employing a noble hunter is one of those controversial non-traditional things he's trying to keep low-key until he gets the throne. Besides, those who love her from the DC origin probably wouldn't want to see her as Bhelen's convinced her the DN is somehow responsible for all the problems he's been having.
